Carla Anger reacted on thisCarla Anger reacted on thisI'm honoured to share that I've been appointed General Manager leading the Canadian business unit of KDP future independent coffee company, Global Coffee Co. At this time last year, KDP announced its acquisition of JDE Peet’s, bringing together two complementary coffee businesses to create the world’s #1 pure-play coffee company. Couldn’t be prouder to join the Canadian organization as we help shape what comes next. Canada has a vibrant coffee culture, an exceptional portfolio of brands and a talented team behind them. I look forward to listening, learning and working alongside our people, customers and partners to build on this strong foundation. To everyone who has welcomed me so warmly: thank you. I’m excited to begin this next chapter together.

Carla Anger reacted on thisCarla Anger reacted on thisI may have retired, but my concern and passion for the safety of retail and service employees and keeping our streets safe for all continues: As co-founder of Save Our Streets (SOS) , SOS URGES VOTERS TO SEEK PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITMENT FROM PARTIES AND CANDIDATES in the upcoming BC elections. With provincial and municipal elections underway in B.C., Save Our Streets (SOS) says now is the perfect time for British Columbians to share their concerns with the candidates who want their vote and to ask them and their parties to say how they plan to address the public safety issues in their communities. In the weeks ahead, candidates for both levels of government will be participating in all-candidates forums, appearing on talk radio shows and reaching out to voters through email and door-to-door visits. Each of these activities presents an opportunity for residents to make candidates aware of just how serious an issue public safety. The latest Save Our Streets poll on public safety showed: 48% of British Columbians said they fear for the safety of their families in their own community; 43% said the level of criminal activity in their community has increased; 37% said they’ve been the victim of a recent crime; 53% said there are areas in their own community they actively avoid for fear of their own safety; and 87% said addiction and mental illnesses are to blame for many public safety issues. “The heightened level of interaction between British Columbians and the men and women who want to be their next municipal and provincial leaders makes elections unique opportunities for B.C. residents to make themselves heard,” says Jess Ketchum, Co-founder, SOS. “At the recent Union of BC Municipalities convention, we asked mayors and councillors to sign on to a “Contract with Communities”, which called on the provincial government to carry out five critical actions that can make a measurable difference on key issues affecting public safety. Now, we’re urging British Columbians to ask their local candidates where they stand on these critical issues and how they plan to address public safety if they’re elected.” The Save Our Streets “Contract With Communities” included: Ensure Safe Public Spaces with provincial policy that stipulates homeless encampments CANNOT become established in communities that have adequate shelter options. Immediately Move Beyond Harm Reduction with detoxification beds within Health Ministry facilities in ALL BC communities. Addictions and Mental Health Services Must Be a 2026 Priority with government-operated addiction and mental illness treatment and recovery to be established on a regional basis throughout the province NOW. Properly Locate Public-Facing, Low-Barrier Services to ensure NO negative impact to surrounding neighbourhoods. Justice Services Must Be Funded to Serve the Public Good with enough judges, sheriffs, Crown prosecutors and correctional staff to adequately hold people ACCOUNTABLE for criminal acts. On the Save Our Streets elections webpage, SOS has provided a handy reference pdf with the recent SOS poll results, provincial parties contact information, and the Contract with Communities critical actions for B.C. residents to print and share. About Save Our Streets Save Our Streets is a non partisan coalition of 120-plus community and business organizations representing every corner of British Columbia. SOS members are committed to seeing governments bring order and public safety back to communities across British Columbia. Concerned citizen groups, and B.C. businesses interested in joining or supporting SOS are invited to submit online at SaveOurStreets.ca or contact info@saveourstreets.ca.

Nathan has always been a huge supporter of new and local brands. If one of his brands has an event in store, Nathan is there, helping set up, making sure the shelves are well stocked, and the staff are educated on the benefits of the products. Congratulations on this acknowledgement, Nathan. We can't think of anyone more deserving!

Carla Anger liked thisGroupe Marcelle has been part of my family’s story for three generations. While a lot has changed over 75 years, our commitment to building and growing this company in Canada has never wavered. Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting CTV News' Genevieve Beauchemin at our new office and manufacturing facility to show what that commitment looks like in practice with R&D, formulation and production, all happening in the city where it started. This community has given us the talent, the partners and the foundation to continue to grow and remain competive. Staying rooted here is a decision we’re proud to make every day. Thank you to Genevieve and the CTV team for joining us to take a closer look at what we’ve built here. Carla Anger liked thisCarla Anger liked thisOrange Shirt Day began in 2013, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was implemented in 2021, and it has been encouraging to see our country acknowledging some uncomfortable realities about our history in recent years. I will always champion moving beyond the performative and towards authentic, results-based actions. Wearing an orange shirt once a year is a great way to grow community and awareness, and lets all also look at what we can be doing each and every day to bridge the gap between communities and move towards a more just and equitable future. The 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission provide a great starting point for us all to examine the ways in which we can take tangible action and create real change - https://lnkd.in/gVcJ8D4j

Sometimes, the simplest #beer is the hardest one to get right. For Kevin Wong, Co-founder of Hidden Gem Beer and BJCP beer judge, a perfectly executed Pilsner or Helles can be far more impressive than something deliberately complex. There’s nowhere to hide: balance, precision and drinkability have to do the work. In our latest conversation, Kevin shares what makes a beer stand out in judging, why innovation alone doesn’t guarantee commercial potential, and where breweries can sometimes lose sight of what ultimately matters: whether consumers want to order that beer again. A useful perspective for brewers thinking about both the judging table and the commercial market. 8 in 10 coffee servings now include sugar, syrup, or milk, making personalization a baseline expectation. Canadian consumers are moving beyond the classics, seeking bold, indulgent flavours that deliver both comfort and novelty. This presents a strategic opportunity for operators to innovate without adding operational complexity. Visually appealing drinks can drive engagement and social traction, but busy service hours often make execution challenging. We recommend pumpable syrups and sauces for consistent flavour and reduced prep time, along with shelf-stable ingredients from trusted suppliers to minimize waste. This a concerning number, more than 4000 restaurant closures (after taking into account 3000 openings in Canada) - so, 7000 closures...... How can we help our restauranteurs keep their doors open and our industry healthy? Next is to understand why the closures???
