Meghan Telpner posted thisIn the latest episode of The Courageous Pivot, I’ve explored the parts of the entrepreneurial path we don’t talk about honestly enough: the gap between the dream of ‘freedom’ we’ve been sold and the reality of what it actually takes—and costs. This isn’t about tearing down entrepreneurship. I don’t regret a single year of the 15 years I spent building my business and my life. But I do think we’ve created a culture where: → We celebrate gross revenue without talking about actual profit or quality of life → We conflate “building your own thing” with freedom, even when we’re chained to our phones and computers → We measure success by metrics that don’t actually align with what we want our lives to feel like What we don’t talk about in the most meaningful work often happens quietly. Sustainably. Aligned. Link to the full episode in comments.

Meghan Telpner shared thisThank you for including me in this Toronto Metropolitan University — such an important topic that is too often navigated in isolation and with a sense of shame or failure. “Letting go can involve grief, particularly when a professional identity has been built over many years, but that process can also support deeper alignment with who you are now.”Meghan Telpner shared thisThinking about a career pivot? 🌟TMU alumni Meghan Telpner, Danica Nelson and Mike Rudolph, CHRP share the mindset, financial strategies, and insider HR insights you need to navigate change with clarity and confidence. Meghan Telpner shared thisIt's been an interesting process- moving on from what what I did and who I was publicly for 15 years. I address this in this episode of my podcast and I imagine I will resonate for a lot of you, too. Its the challenges that come when you outgrow the life you worked so hard to build. The grief of releasing a successful career that no longer fits. Of saying goodbye to accomplished versions of yourself that others could easily understand. Of mourning dreams you actually achieved—but that now feel complete. If you've ever felt this—that strange, tender ache of growing beyond what once served you—this episode is for you. https://lnkd.in/e-T5hK39Episode 018: The Silent Grief of Growth: Letting Go of the Life You BuiltEpisode 018: The Silent Grief of Growth: Letting Go of the Life You Built

Meghan Telpner shared this18 episodes deep on my current project: The Couragous Pivot Podcast. What if the next right move is to slow down, let go, or completely change course? In real time, through this podcast I’m working to develop a framework to help you determine what to do when you don’t know what to do. The Courageous Pivot explores what it really means to honour your truth—even when it challenges everything you’ve built. Through personal stories, guest interviews and practical tools, the show aims to share the challenges of big changes in mid-life (that often make no sense to anyone but you). With my guests, we’re exploring how to navigate fear, trust your intuition, and redefine success on your own terms.

Meghan Telpner shared this“…access to healthy food should be a right and there are less people making truly healthy food in cpg.” Support the small businesses doing their due diligence to make quality food. Some insights from the wise and tenacious Julia Kirouac, CNP, founder of Nud FudMeghan Telpner shared thisDepressing post ahead... Happy 2024! (this is not the depressing part) Like many of my fellow #cpg founders, I think we are all optimistically hoping for a better year but, I sadly think the punches will just keep on coming. Things I have seen continually worsen in CPG: 🏪 Retailers are increasingly more expensive to sell to and to sell within. 🛒 There continues to be consolidation among retail and distribution. From the supplier side, it tends to make your leverage (what leverage?!) vastly diminished and CODB higher. Generally, less retail support for Canadian businesses, or health foods. Many independents that the natural food community depended on to seed small companies have tried to stay competitive themselves with chains and unfortunately are implementing many expensive practices and charge backs to the suppliers, acting just like big retail. 🏭 Since suppliers are at the end of the line when it comes to chargebacks, they have nowhere to charge their material suppliers back to make up the difference. So, you just keep digging into your margin until you can't anymore. I believe this is one of worst practices that keeps higher quality foods off shelves (as something has got to give and it is usually the food quality itself, or you go out of business). 💰 We all know funding overall has dried up in comparison to the 2010's. Looking forward to seeing a return to common sense in food and less ridiculous funding from tech bros that never really had any business getting in to food. (sorry, not sorry) i) My main concern with this fickle cpg funding environment, is in the interim as we wait for this period to pass, those who typically have less access to capital may be increasingly left behind and left out of being able to survive. ii) On that note... at every opportunity to speak to gov officials at various levels, I tell them there is not enough support going to food and food manufacturing. If we don't invest in food sovereignty, and diversity of ideas in food, what will our domestic food environment look like in 5-10 years? 🔬 I see true innovation taking a pause and the progress in natural foods being reversed. Consumers are less willing to invest in nutrition and many still do not correlate health/illness with their diet. This is sadly by design I believe, as there is so much incentive for the processed food industry to obfuscate nutrition information. (seen the tik tok sponsorship of dieticians that take industry money to say aspartame is healthy?) On the plus side: -We expect interest rates to be lowered in 2024. -Maybe some small suppliers will come up with some innovative survival tactics in order to survive ;p Marie Amazan, MBA, Ag. Engineer I truly don't know what to expect but, I do know access to healthy food should be a right and there are less people making truly healthy food in cpg. My passion stays unwavering over the past years of constant punches. Keep getting up when you are punched down.

Meghan Telpner reacted on thisMeghan Telpner reacted on thisOne of my favourite things to do in my spare time is creating recipes, so over the past little while I’ve been working on a side project that’s very close to my heart—Some Good Healthy Comforts. This cookbook has been so much more than putting recipes on paper. It’s been a chance to share the meals that have brought comfort to my own table—recipes that are nourishing, approachable, and meant to be enjoyed with the people you love. My hope is that this cookbook shows healthy, gluten-free, and dairy-free comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated or feel like you’re missing out. It can be full of flavour, satisfying, and become part of your everyday life. I’m so excited to share this project with you. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way. I can’t wait for you to cook from these pages. Some Good Healthy Comforts arrives this August. ❤️ #cookbook #glutenfree #dairyfree #comfortfood #healthyrecipes #SomeGood

Meghan Telpner reacted on thisMeghan Telpner reacted on thisA different kind of book launch party. Most book launches are designed to celebrate the author. I wanted mine to drive value. Both for the people in the room, and for the book. Community Made is built on one idea: self-made is a myth. Every success carries other people's fingerprints. So a launch where I stand at the front, soak up the congratulations, and read a chapter out loud would have wasted the brilliance in the room. In attendance were people who'd helped with the book's creation. The least I could do was let them put their hands on where the book goes next. Here was the flow. (And I think it worked out brilliantly, which I rarely say.) 3:30pm - We opened with a remix. 80% of the room knew each other well. 20% didn't. I didn't need them to break the ice, I needed to break people up. Everyone lined up by birthday, which got energy and small talk going fast. I then grouped them in threes with whoever was beside them, and gave them two questions: "What's the last book you couldn't stop talking about? Why?" "What are you working on creatively right now? And if nothing's active, what are you itching to start?" The second one got people saying their creative dream out loud. Some for the first time. 4:00pm — The talk. This was almost entirely about the why behind the book and the work that went into it. At the end, I didn't run a Q&A. I made an ask. 4:30pm — The book shower. I took the idea straight from page 213 of the book. Treat a new venture the way you'd treat a new baby. Bring everyone who cares about together to come support it. I told the room the three things I actually need help with. Selling the book. Spreading the word. Getting copies into the right hands. Then I put them in small groups for ten minutes. Across 40 people, we ended up with 103 ideas and possible connections. We closed the night with a series of Mastermind Dinners — curated tables of six, each with its own conversation starters. I wrote a book about how nobody does it alone. So it felt right to launch it the same way. P.S. This worked well enough that I'm adding the full format to my Kickstarter 1000 Hour Author package. Visit CommunityMade.com to take advantage of it before it closes in 5 days.

Meghan Telpner reacted on thisMeghan Telpner reacted on thisThis past season, my body made the decision for me that I needed some deep rest. A flare-up of my chronic illness, then a pinched nerve that had me flat on my back for weeks. My body made the decision my calendar wouldn't. And somewhere in that stillness, something clarified. As others set goals or moved forward with the New Year push. I hibernated and realized, this year isn't about a goal. It's about a theme: Regenerative Possibilities. Why Regenerative Possibilities? Because what if the way we work, build, and live together could actually replenish us by design? Not relentless growth. Not hustle dressed up as strategy. But systems that give more than they take. Rhythms that hold you on the days when you have nothing left. Enough, defined on your own terms. I've been designing my business around my needs for a while. This season forced me to look harder at where the gaps still are. Four areas I'm placing my attention on: - Enoughness: What do I actually need vs. what society says I should want? - Rhythms: Systems that flex with my capacity, not against it - Adventure: Making room for curiosity, play, and wonder as non-negotiables, especially now - Connection: Building a village rooted in reciprocity, not performance In a world built on extraction and speed, regeneration is resistance. So I am leaning in and imagining another way. If any of this resonates, I write about it in more depth in my newsletter, Regeneration in Practice. The link to sign up is in the comments. Where are you placing your attention this season?

The Culinary Uncanny Valley: Why AI Food Photos Don’t Make Us Hungry Odds are, you’ve tried generating an image with whatever LLM you favour right now. And you probably said, “Hey, that’s not bad!” But have you tried it with food? Turns out, lots of brands have, and they’re running with it. Why not? It’s fast, it’s free, and, as you’ve observed, “it’s not bad.” But there’s a huge gap between “not bad” and “that looks delicious.” This month, we explore how and why AI food images can actually damage your brand’s reputation. https://lnkd.in/dYh5-8zc #FoodMarketing #AIFood #FoodPhotography #ConsumerInsights #BrandStrategy #CPGMarketing #NourishTrendReport
