  • At @Mars, our position has always been clear: if it is not safe, it is not food. Securing food safety across a global supply chain is not a challenge any single company can solve on its own. It requires common standards, open collaboration and continuous capability building across the entire value chain. That shared commitment was the focus of the 2026 @Mars and @Danone Supplier Quality Seminar, held at Huairou Science City in Beijing. Jointly organized by Mars (including @Mars Global Food Safety Center, @Mars Snacking SQA, @Royal Canin SQA) and Danone, the event brought together 286 supplier representatives from 200 supplier companies across Mars Snacking, Royal Canin and Danone. Over three days and across four technical learning tracks, participants tackled critical and emerging food safety priorities: • Advanced risk management, including microbiological controls, mycotoxin management, foreign material prevention, food fraud mitigation and crisis readiness. • Practical quality systems, covering regulatory compliance, quality culture, quality management soft skills and change management. • Future-focused approaches, including the role of artificial intelligence in food safety, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), new product validation and AI application. The focus throughout was on practical application. The seminar concluded with an average satisfaction rating of 4.9 out of 5 and generated 581 specific supplier action plans to be implemented directly in day-to-day operations. Leadership from Mars and Danone, including @Ketty Wang, @Yang Ming, @Janette Zhou, @Claudia Cavaleiro and @Yueju Zhao, reinforced the vital importance of turning insights into operational excellence on the factory floor. STEMM plays a critical role in anticipating and managing food safety risks, and diverse teams, including women in STEMM, are central to this work at 玛氏食品 . As the head of Mars Global Food Safety Center , one of my focus areas is managing mycotoxin risk in agricultural raw materials, one of the most critical safety challenges facing global food systems today. Mycotoxins can threaten both animal and human health and disrupt supply continuity across regions. That is where we can leverage smart applications of science and technology building on Mars’ existing material quality risk management framework to predict, prevent and control risk. One example of impact is a mycotoxin risk prediction model with forecasting capability, currently in pilot in Europe. It supports earlier, risk-based decision making by helping teams anticipate potential risks and respond proactively. What excites me most is helping shift food safety risk management from reactive to proactive, strengthening supply chains and helping ensure safe food for all. Science moves forward when we stay curious, support one another and make space for different perspectives. Supporting women and girls in STEMM is not just about opportunity. It strengthens the science that shapes our future, and today we celebrate their contributions on International Day of Women and Girls in Science. What has helped spark your interest in science or supported your path in STEMM? #SparkTheFuture #WomenInSTEM #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience #ProudlyMars
