Celeste Rivas Parents Push For Death Penalty If D4vd Found Guilty
Unbranded - unbranded - Newsworthy
The parents of Celeste Rivas Hernandez have urged Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman to seek the death penalty against D4vd if he’s convicted. The family made the request in a rare public statement following criminal proceedings against the singer, who has pleaded not guilty. “If the death penalty were activated, it would be perfect for this kind of human being, devoid of feelings and emptiness inside,” they said in a statement to the California Post. The family added that D4vd has “caused pain to our daughter, our family, and the world that supports our precious daughter.” Hochman has delayed his decision on whether to seek the death penalty while awaiting a mitigation packet from D4vd’s new public defender. D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, recently dismissed his legal team to be represented by a public defender. At his rearraignment, Burke pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually abusing Celeste, killing her, dismembering her, and concealing her remains.

Celeste Rivas’s Parents Sue D4vd For Wrongful Death
Unbranded - unbranded - Newsworthy
The parents of Celeste Rivas Hernandez are suing singer D4vd for wrongful death and accusing his mother and managers of negligence. This civil action is separate from D4vd’s criminal murder trial, although both cases address the teenager's sexual abuse and death. Her parents claim D4vd began sexually abusing their 13-year-old daughter in 2023 and that the pair exchanged texts “concerning an abortion of a pregnancy.” D4vd allegedly exercised control by “providing her a concealed cellular telephone” and paying for travel to isolate her from her family. The suit states that D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, hired an Uber for Rivas Hernandez to reach his mansion before fatally stabbing her to cover up the abuse. Her remains were found months later in Burke’s Tesla in a “severely decomposed condition, with portions never recovered.” Burke is facing wrongful death, battery, and human trafficking charges for providing “money, food, shelter, designer gifts, travel, a ring, and a promise.” The singer's managers, security guard, and mother have been named in the lawsuit over claims that they facilitated the logistics “that enabled Burke to isolate (Rivas Hernandez) from her family.”
