Naupactus xanthographus is a weevil that goes by the common name South American fruit tree weevil. Here is a photo:

My question is about the specific name xanthographus. It seems to be formed by Greek roots ξανθός, yellow, and γράφος. Looking at the photo, one immediately thinks that the name means something like yellow striped, or with yellow drawings, but,

Is that meaning correct? Is it well formed, grammatically speaking?

And, finally, would flavolineatus be a fair translation to Latin? Or can you suggest anything more accurate?
