Simple request, when I click on the Inbox, for example, and move my mouse to the right, I'd like the Achievements to open automatically instead of needing a reclick.

We could do the same for the "Explore our sites" & "help" section too.shad0w_wa1k3r– shad0w_wa1k3r2013-12-05 12:49:51 +00:00Commented Dec 5, 2013 at 12:49

Also, the "User" strip (avatar, rep, badges) could have some similar functionality showing the old topbar drop-down stats.shad0w_wa1k3r– shad0w_wa1k3r2013-12-05 12:51:45 +00:00Commented Dec 5, 2013 at 12:51

This means moving the mouse makes the menu go away. I hate that, it turns using the mouse into a precision exercise.Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'– Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'2013-12-05 16:39:12 +00:00Commented Dec 5, 2013 at 16:39

2@Gilles Not necessarily, think of computer programs with menus that don't need reclicks.ike– ike2013-12-05 16:41:13 +00:00Commented Dec 5, 2013 at 16:41

1My question will probably get closed as a duplicate of this one. But it's more detailed and answers @Gilles objection (before I even read it). So feel free to salvage whatever I wrote there and put it here. Unless that's not what you want, then please reopen as soon as needed ;)Mołot– Mołot2013-12-06 08:47:41 +00:00Commented Dec 6, 2013 at 8:47

1@Mołot No auto-expand please. Your question is IMHO not a duplicate, I just hope in won't get accepted. And auto-hide is one of the most disturbing features ever.yo'– yo'2013-12-06 16:04:06 +00:00Commented Dec 6, 2013 at 16:04

1This change seems to be causing problems for touch screen users who cannot hover on other menus, and clicking weirdly closes all menus. I proposed the following fix to take care of that: meta.stackexchange.com/a/211627/201738ADTC– ADTC2013-12-15 08:55:38 +00:00Commented Dec 15, 2013 at 8:55

I like this idea, and it will also address the concern that the click targets aren't big enough.

Hello. Isn't it status-completed now?Mołot– Mołot2013-12-09 09:27:06 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2013 at 9:27

1Yes, still going to tweak it a bit to make sure you don't accidentally get the menu you're not looking for.2013-12-09 16:06:11 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2013 at 16:06

4Nooooo! Now I've accidentally moved the mouse onto the achievements tag when trying to reach for my inbox and the counter is bugging me again :( The solution to bigger click targets is BIGGER CLICK TARGETS, not making clicking one target also click its neighbor.Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'– Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'2013-12-09 18:05:22 +00:00Commented Dec 9, 2013 at 18:05

1If you're going to do that, please at least make it consistent. The moderator inbox now lives in its realm, separated from the other three.Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'– Gilles 'SO- stop being evil'2013-12-11 00:51:28 +00:00Commented Dec 11, 2013 at 0:51
