I just tried the Beta version of the "Questions" page, and have a few subjective reactions:

  1. Having quick links to other communities is a good thing. However it's my impression that most question that get closed as "off topic" for belonging elsewhere on the network actually should have been asked at Super User -- so I'd add a link to that community.

  2. I notice you have removed our current reputation from the header line. I miss it that because it served as a cue as to whether I was logged in to that specific network site or not. Additionally, it had a somewhat hidden use related to keyboard navigation. Specifically, it afforded a fairly quick, backdoor way to access out inboxes via keyboard navigation:

If you're going to remove this trick please introduce some other way to quickly access the inbox via keyboard navigation.

  3. I can't even hazard a guess as to what that Q*bert-looking icon in the upper right is supposed to mean:

    Q*bert-looking icon

Even after clicking on it I still can't guess. Maybe you need to give the drop-down menu a title, or implement a tooltip.

  • It's a stack of boxes :) That icon actually makes sense for a change. I've been making a lot of controversial guesses as to where the site will be going and I have another one regarding superuser... I feel it in my gut that Stack Overflow and superuser will be merged at some point. Because non-programming tech questions might actually become or already are more of a money maker than programming questions. But "Stack Overflow" is the known brand. Commented yesterday
  • I would like to have next and jump to page 1,2,3,4,5 at the top of the Newest Questions page as well at the bottom and I can live without jump to page 464795 button which seems totally arbitrary and utterly useless. It isn't the last page in the system either - that is 483386 at present. 483387 fails gracefully "no questions found" but 483388 and higher fails 404 which isn't at all professional :( Commented 11 hours ago
