YouTube is an American social media and online video sharing platform owned by Google.
This website is used by both independent content creators such as LDShadowLady, DanTDM, and Element Animation, or by professional corporations like Mojang Studios to share or promote their creations.
Collaborations
[edit | edit source]One Trillion Views
[edit | edit source]In 2021, the Minecraft community on YouTube had reached approximately one trillion views. To celebrate, several projects were created, including two videos, a skin pack, and a web page.[1][2]
YouTube originals
[edit | edit source]Cinematics
[edit | edit source]To promote various updates and projects, several Mojang cinematics have been released, typically featuring characters such as Sunny, Efe, and Noor going on various adventures. Similar shorts have also been released for spin-off projects, including Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Earth.
Machinimas
[edit | edit source]Prior to the introduction of cinematics, the majority of trailers produced for the franchise consisted of machinima animations, a style where video games are manipulated and staged for animation purposes instead of a formal software. Many of these were created by the YouTubers Hat Films.
Shorts
[edit | edit source]Beginning in 2020, YouTube added a special section of their website to finding "short form" content, in response to political tensions over TikTok. Several Mojang shorts have been released on the platform, as well as additional Marketplace shorts.
