Considering I'm using Astral Perception, I understand that my character becomes Dual Nature, which means I can interact with astral entities, like Spirits, etc. Can I "punch" them (or use any unarmed attack) during that without using any spell or effect, just bare hands? What would be the attack test and damage?

\$\begingroup\$ I am also interested the answer. Although I have never played SR but in other games like WoD usually you cannot do it only with magic or entering into the umbra/astral real physically to harm them. \$\endgroup\$ Commented yesterday

\$\begingroup\$ @NESRockman1987 SR's Astral is different from the WoD Umbra. In the WoD, you are either there or here but in SR one can be on both at the same time. \$\endgroup\$ Commented 10 hours ago

Yes you can

This is on p. 312 under Astral Perception

When astrally perceiving, you become dual-natured (meaning you have presence in both the physical and astral planes simultaneously) and can interact with astral objects, including through combat.

There are no further qualifications on this for unarmed combat, so the normal unarmed combat rules should apply.

\$\begingroup\$ This was true all the way back to 2e. I can't vouch for SR1 from memory, though. Also, fighting in the meatsack against astral entities is dangerous. Some things in there have a nasty sting. \$\endgroup\$ Commented 10 hours ago

\$\begingroup\$ Also, back then, astral initiative was way higher than physical one, making astral perception more dangerous (as the astral entity would have more actions per turn than a meatbag) \$\endgroup\$ Commented 10 hours ago

\$\begingroup\$ @MindwinRememberMonica Not to mention the fact that all astral combat is melee combat, and in earlier editions, it was a directly opposed test. You could get injured on your own turn by attacking a superior close combatant and losing. \$\endgroup\$ Commented 6 hours ago
