A very overdue update, but after 6 years and 9 months, I’ve left Amazon for a new chapter with Adyen!
My time at Amazon has been “濃い” to say the least (no perfect English translation, but let’s just say A LOT happened haha). So many “firsts”, challenges, learnings, and friendships that I know will last a lifetime (you know who you are!)
From my first time living and working in Japan, to entering into payments, becoming a PdM, hiring and building my own team from scratch, and figuring out how to lead…. there was never a shortage of new things to learn. On the personal front, I also returned to work as a mom, navigating 保育園の洗礼 and pure survival mode 😂
Looking back on my time at Amazon, I learned what it means to be truly “customer obsessed”, dive deep (then dive deeper and some more), and insist on the highest standards - all while writing A LOT of docs, debating mental models and tenets, and somehow turning the smallest details into very serious discussions. And somewhere along the way, I learned that even the most well-written six-pager can’t solve everything without great people around you.
A HUGE thank you to the my managers who took a chance on me, trusted me, and gave me room to grow:
Drew Hatton,
Neal Rothfuss,
Brynn Hoover,
Jonathan Gen Nagao,
Megan Bramlette. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you.
To the many mentors I turned to (often at random hours 🙃), thank you for giving me the advice I needed to hear. And to my teams in Japan and around the world- thank you for making even the toughest challenges fun!
So, what’s next? I’ve joined Adyen as Head of Account Management in Japan. I’ve known Adyen since my early days at Amazon, so it’s exciting to be on the other side and start a new chapter in an industry I love. Still getting settled in, but already feeling very welcomed by amazing team members! Onto the next 🚀
