I plugged another SSD into my M.2_1 port on my desktop (My OS is installed on my M2_2 port), and file explorer doesn't show it, although device manager and my motherboard BIOS detect it just fine. It's a Predator GM7000-1TB, my motherboard is an MSI X370 gaming pro carbon (old yeah I know), and I'm running Windows 10.

Tried swapping out the ports and the M2_2 port can't even DETECT my OS SSD, so that ain't gonna work. I assume that there is something obvious I have missed here.

To clarify: The other SSD is in the M2_2 slot and is detected just fine. I just tried swapping them out earlier to see how it worked. The 250GB Crucial SSD works just fine, as it has for the last 8 years. I just though it was interesting that plugging my OS drive (not the new 1tb drive) into the M1_1 slot caused the OS not to boot at all. But that isn't the issue at hand.

Uninstalling the new drive does not cause any problems.

The only other PCIe devices I have installed are my graphics card and a wifi card that I do not use. Should I remove the wifi card? Will that free things up some how?

The 1TB Predator SSD in question is not formatted, as I cannot get drive manager to detect it.

Still not sure why 4.0 NVMe would work on SOME ssd ports but not others.

No, I have nothing in the bottom PCIe slot. Besides, the SSD is question is in the m2_1, not the m2_2, which does NOT share a lane with the bottom PCIe.

I just looked it up, and NVMe 4.0 Should work on my specific motherboard.
