I recently came across a version of this image on a LinkedIn post about software development. After googling the image I found it in a few articles about telecommunications in Greece and advertisement material for mobility companies. The image can be downloaded here and it says it's from 11/01 2017. However, no further information is provided.

I imagine that if you are from or has been this city in the background you could easily tell us where it is:

If the date is correct, an analysis of the stars will give you a good guess as to the location. Commented Jun 17 at 9:52

A reverse image search (via TinEye) reveals the original photo to be published on Unsplash. The author notes the location is Boulder, Colorado, USA.

Boulder is a city that sits on the foothills of the east side of the Rocky Mountains. This means the mountains are to the west of the city. The photo features a hairpin turn which is a common type of corner on mountain roads. Looking at a map of Boulder, there seems to be four roads of significance that go between the city and the mountains:

  • Linden Drive
  • Sunshine Canyon Drive
  • Boulder Canyon Drive (State Highway 119)
  • Flagstaff Road

From the map, only Flagstaff Road has hairpin turns. The turn features only a short straight until the next turn when going up the road (in elevation) and the city appears to the right when looking down both entry/exit at the apex. Only one corner has these features, which places the location to be on Flagstaff Road with the following decimal coordinates: 40.001048, -105.294817 (Google Maps, Google Street View).

  • Thanks. I wander why google images didn't show me Unsplash. Which search engine did you use for reverse image search? Commented Jun 17 at 11:29

@André: I used TinEye, with filter by stock photos enabled (enabling this filter helps find the original, as opposed to all the places that use the photo). I've edited the answer with a link to the search results. Commented Jun 17 at 11:38
  • Unfortunately, the link to the search results is not permanent. As a result, it's now been removed. Commented Jul 2 at 20:56
