His sharpest line: the brand exposes the coherence of the strategy — you can't credibly be premium while relying on constant discounting. James Kindred posted thisTo mark Surrey Street market's 750th birthday, female-led practice Bob Design handed the visual identity to Croydon School of Art students — running participatory workshops that turned collaged cut-outs into a flexible kit of pictograms, wonky wayfinding arrows and a typeface drawn from signage unearthed in the archives. A lovely argument for grassroots, hand-made randomness over polish, and Bob liked the student work enough to offer seven of them internships afterwards. https://lnkd.in/ezCqrFpg

My Husband went "What did you say?" I responded "On the Huh" which he'd never heard of before so I explained it to him saying it's a Suffolk thing! So today when an email from Ipswich.love popped up selling T-shirts with this exact phrase, I had to buy it plus a "No Hate Here" one. My social feeds are full of people telling me that I can automate everything in my business with the help of AI....and that automating the answers to frequently asked questions is a quick win. Meanwhile my inbox is groaning with AI generated sales emails. They're super easy to spot.....using words like 'circling back' and 'Do you have a few minutes to chat about what's available?'. And it might be really old fashioned.. but every single personal email that lands at Breckland Orchard gets a personal reply back. Sarah who emailed on Tuesday ask 'My boyfriend hasn’t stopped talking about the cola posh pop and I need to find him some locally to restock him some for home'. Personal email back - noting her boyfriend has excellent taste! But it all went wrong last night when I was emailing Sue and she replied 'Could you please inform Breckland' - and I had to say the emails were being written live by the owner/founder! That kind of floored her. And all this AI email stuff is making my resolve even stronger - personal ALWAYS x

I know I only play a small part, but making sure he’s fuelled properly, getting him to training, and getting him to competitions on time is my contribution to the journey. Since I was little, I have been fascinated by all things space and astronomy so I was delighted to see this on my doorstep. Admission is free and in a beautifully cool air conditioned room. But the best part for this particular space geek? Learning about the people from Suffolk who have contributed to astronomy over the years including Basil Brown, he of Sutton Hoo fame and Alice Grace Cook. James Kindred liked thisWhat an inspiring and thought-provoking event at the University of Suffolk — Community Unlocked: Engaging in Impactful Community-Led Engagement. I was honoured to be part of conversations that centred around community, collaboration, research, lived experience, and the importance of ensuring that people’s voices are not just heard, but genuinely included in shaping change. One of the strongest messages from the day was the need to move from consultation to collaboration — working with communities rather than simply doing things to communities. The discussions around representation, co-production, trust, and valuing lived experience as expertise were powerful reminders that meaningful change happens when different forms of knowledge come together. It was wonderful to connect with so many inspiring people, hear different perspectives, and share stories that have the potential to create a ripple effect beyond the room. A huge thank you to the University of Suffolk Research and Knowledge Exchange team for creating such an important space, to the speakers and panel members for sharing their insights, and to everyone who contributed to the conversations. A special mention to Rebecca Osborne-Live Illustration / Animation for the incredible live illustrations, which captured the energy, key messages, and spirit of the day so beautifully. As Ellisha Soanes (She/Her) beautifully highlighted, Shirley Chisholm’s words still resonate today: “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” A powerful reminder that creating meaningful change requires making space for Community voices, experiences, and perspectives that may not always have been heard. Here’s to continuing the conversations, strengthening partnerships, and creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and help shape change. Most businesses accumulate websites the same way they accumulate kitchen drawers full of stuff they don’t need: because nobody ever stopped to question whether they should. The Base in Derby had ended up with two separate websites on two different systems, two sets of messaging and two different places for customers to land and wonder if they were in the right place. It sounds like a small thing until you realise it’s quietly costing you trust every single day. So we stripped it right back with a brand refresh, collapsed both sites into one with subdomains, and integrated their ePOS system directly into the website so the in-venue experience and the online experience can talk to each other instead of pretending the other one doesn’t exist. The best brand and web projects aren’t really about adding things, they’re about having the nerve to take things away and make what’s left work properly. Anyone can bolt more on, but the real value is in simplifying something that’s grown messy over time into something that actually makes sense for the customer.
