According to a Meta Stack Exchange post by Berthold, a Community Manager, Stack Exchange has been conducting an experiment involving AI-generated answers on select sites. In the post, Berthold shared the following:

Which Stack Exchange sites are participating in the experiment?

Arts & Crafts, Raspberry Pi, and User Experience (UX) are currently participating in the experiment. Web Apps was a participant in an earlier stage.

This raises the question: Why was Web Apps SE removed from the current stage of the AI "Answer Bot" experiment?

For more context, see these relevant meta posts:

Regarding the duplicate close vote(s): The meta post We've a "question" problem; AI has an "answer" problem: My assessment of the Answer Bot experiment does not address why SE removed Web Apps SE from the current stage of the experiment.

SE is still rolling out the AI bot experiment across other sites, even making the bot's answers visible to their communities—something they didn't do on Web Apps SE. Was Web Apps SE removed solely because of Blindspots' (a moderator's) feedback, or was there another reason?

We didn't withdraw from the experiment. We were not asked to participate in the next stage. Presumably we were not good candidates: We've a "question" problem. AI an "answer" problem: My assessment of the Answer Bot experiment Commented Feb 6, 2025 at 6:47
  • @Blindspots Ah, I see. I might have phrased my post poorly—thanks for clarifying. I’ll reword it to ask why Web Apps SE was excluded from participating in the experiment. Commented Feb 8, 2025 at 3:17

Why would they continue the experiment after a mod said AI was a bad fit? Did you want/expect some other outcome? Commented Feb 10, 2025 at 20:36
  • @Laurel Many users have pointed out that the AI answer bot isn’t a great fit for the SE Network. The votes on the Meta SE announcement post also reflect that. Yet SE is still rolling out the AI bot experiment on other sites, even making the bot's answers visible to the community—something they didn’t do in Web Apps SE. So why was Web Apps SE singled out to be removed from the experiment? Was it solely because of the mod’s feedback, or was there another reason? Commented Feb 11, 2025 at 7:10
