- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2025The Cutluxe meat cleaver arrived well-packaged and feels premium right out of the box. The blade is extremely sharp and cuts through meat and bone effortlessly. The handle is comfortable and provides a good grip, even during extended use. I’ve been using it regularly and it still holds its edge well. Great value for the quality — highly recommended for home cooks and pros alike.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025This meat cleaver knife is a 7 inch Chinese meat cleaver. This is a butchering knife and is made from a high carbon stainless steel that has a full tang and a wooden handle. This is a high quality knife and is very sharp. This knife is nicely made and has a good weight to it. This is not a cheap knife. This knife has a hanging hole in the top and comes with a point guard attached to it. This is a high end cutlery knife that is meant to be used for deboning or chopping meats.
In use this meat cleaver is very sharp. This has a heavy weight to it and will give you a good swing. This is a knife you want to be careful with. This knife comes in a very attractive presentation with a foam casing in a box and is very shiny and has a branded cleaning cloth. This knife would make a very great gift to somebody who loves to do cooking. This is a chef quality knife. It has been a great addition to my kitchen and is very functional.
The value on this meat cleaver is very good. The cost of this knife is not expensive for the quality. I feel like this would cost a lot more. I am very familiar with good cutlery and own several high end cutlery knife sets prior to this one. The cost of this knife is nowhere close to the quality of this knife giving this a very good value at the time of this review and in my opinion.
Overall this meat cleaver looks and feels like a high end piece of cutlery. Something a chef would carry around. This knife is very impressive and if you want a nice meat cleaver at an affordable rate I would have no problem recommending this one to you. I also really like the wood grain on the handle.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2025This 7" cleaver knife is an excellent addition to any kitchen. The high-carbon stainless steel blade is sharp, durable, and holds its edge well. The pakkawood handle feels sturdy and provides a comfortable grip. It's versatile enough for chopping meat, vegetables, and various cooking tasks, making it a great all-around tool. The full tang design offers great balance and control. My only minor complaint is that the knife is a bit heavier than expected, but overall, it’s a solid choice and a great gift for anyone who loves cooking!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2025Very sharp and sturdy. It's a good knife for cutting meat and prepping your food for cooking. It was nicely presenting in the box, which is also what I'm using to store it when not in use, just to keep safe. The handle is a good weight and overall this knife seems to be good quality.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2025This is my first cleaver and I mostly wanted to use it like a knife and scoop for rock hard frozen vegetables to avoid dulling my nicer knives. However I find that it's really nice for a lot more cutting. Knives are all about purpose and this is my first cleaver not in a cheap set. I haven't tried to cut through bone because I just don't make soup like that, but I have no doubt that if it can cut through frozen food (basically ice), then it'd do just as well with bones. It has a nice feel and balance that makes chopping extra fun. However, it's almost too nice because I feel like if I really went the cleave something, than I'd be damaging it. But that's what it is for! I also like the packaging. Very good gift to impress.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2025I've been looking for a good cleaver for a while now. This one is super sharp, well made, and works great. The blade is sharp. The handle is well attached and fits in my hand well. The weight is balanced and it isn't too heavy to use. It feels like it's made to last. And frankly, it just looks nice. This is a great knife that won't break the bank and I'm very pleased to have it in my kitchen.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2025Excellent meat cleaver. It's durable and does the job! Very well made.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2025Wicked sharp, light yet durable. Needed a cleaver and prefer to cut and slice vegetables with a cleaver. It has to be thin enough to do the job and this one has that balance. The handle is well secured and well made with no visible. The tang of the knife is full and is very straight. The edge is very sharp and even. The angle of the edge is around a 20 degree angle. I put this on a strop after heaving use with cooking a large banquet style meal of Tri Tip, mixed salads and greens. The knife was washed with ease and no staining of the blade. Great value with this blade and also a cool name... Definately a high grade budget option of us culinary experts/chefs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid and extremely sharp, band aides should be included in the box...
This is the second knife I've ordered from this company. I have used knives made by various companies, some big brand names as well, and how good they always end up at one basic point - how good is the steel at keeping an edge? All knives can be sharpened, but there is a lot of variance in how well they hold an edge when doing basic kitchen chores. While not the best at keeping an edge, these are not as expensive as some options I've used they were much more expensive.
🚩 👀 Right up front, this company's knives come SHARP. I've had a few encounters where things like a wee bit of skin on a joint just above the fingernail and the nail itself got shaved off. I'm very careful with things this sharp, but while slicing a section of sweet pepper, it rolled under the pressure of me holding it down just as I brought the cleave down. On the upside, it was a clean slice and small enough to not need stitches. The only real damage was having to listen to my wife for five minutes after she found out about what happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the last three weeks, I've had a few opportunities to use this. As with any product that will only show weakness after repeated use, I prefer to use something like this for a decent amount of time before writing a review. Only through repeated use, wash cycles, and sharpening is it possible to make a real assessment of the quality.
► In addition to this particular knife, I also have a couple of other knives and a set they offer. In all cases, I find the quality to be excellent.
► Each knife comes with a user manual wherein it states the best setting when using knife sharpeners- 15 to 18 degrees. This is not the case with every brand. Many of the newest knife sharpeners allow for setting the angle at various degrees.
► So far I have not noticed any corrosion happening. Some have sat in the sink wet for a couple of days and they washed up completely and look great.
Some full tang knives (where the steel from the blade runs through the handle) are made such that the flattened blade extends as a flat section and then has two wood halves attached, one to each side and then these are held in place with rivets. These knives are different. The steel from the blade is moulded such that at the handle,e it is a rounded (oval when looking at the end) extension of the blade that passes through a round wood section. At the handles end is a steel cap which is attached to the "tang," and then all three pieces are finished off such that there are no edges. Everything is smooth and comfortable to hold onto.
This has a very strong, wide, blade that allows me to apply a lot of pressure when needed. I won't go so far as to say I can chop fire logs with the thing, but it can handle a lot. Sideways pressure while doing things like tearing a turkey apart has zero impact on the blade; it stays straight.
I like the Cutluxe handles. They are a comfortable size, and with the full tang running through them, it helps equalize the weight, which also makes using them comfortable. Like so many other knives with wood handles, it always offers a nice contrast to the stark steel.
Based on my experience with the various knives I now have made by this company, I would have no problem ordering more of their products.
This is a very nice set that comes boxed so that it could easily be gifted. The selling price as I write this review is $39.99, which is very good considering the quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute beast
This is my first cleaver ever and I'm impressed. This thing is a beast. The blade is ridiculously sharp, like, it cuts through meat and even bone (with a bit of force) without any struggle. The weight distribution feels spot on to me, so it feels really balanced and natural to use.
I find myself reaching for it way more than I expected. It's not just my go-to for meat; I've been using it for chopping veggies, too, and it makes quick work of pretty much everything. Plus, it just looks incredible; feels premium and definitely has that "wow" factor.
If you're on the fence about getting it, just do it. You won’t regret it. This cleaver is an absolute workhorse, and the build quality makes me confident it'll last a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Cleaver for Everyday Use
I never owned a cleaver knife before, so I picked up this one to go with my Shinobi knife set, and it’s been a great addition. The weight and balance feel just right, giving enough heft for chopping through meat and tough vegetables without feeling too heavy. The high-carbon stainless steel blade is just as sharp as the other knives in the set—effortlessly slicing through whatever I throw at it.
The pakkawood handle is comfortable to hold, and the full tang design gives it a sturdy, well-made feel. It also looks great in my kitchen alongside the rest of the set. If you’re looking for a versatile cleaver that’s as good for meat prep as it is for chopping veggies, this one is definitely worth considering!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice and quality meat cleaver for the price
While this isn't a high-end cleaver, it has a lot of decent features.
The full tang (that means the blade continues all the way through the handle meaning that it is almost impossible for the handle to ever break away from the blade)
The handle, while not real wood, has a decent look to it and is quite comfortable.
The knife is reasonably well balanced which makes a huge difference in how tired and sore your hand and wrist will get when using it for a bit of time. The balance on this cleaver should allow you to use it for a full meal prep and not feel discomfort or soreness. That said, there is some good heft to this cleaver allowing you to do some heavier jobs like splitting chickens, cutting / dicing meat, and cutting hard vegetables.
The carbon steel of the blade means that you can get a very sharp edge if you sharpen it properly, and it will hold that edge for a long time (in knife terms - carbon steel holds edges longer than other steels) if you take care of it and hone it from time to time. Unfortunately, carbon steel does rust so make sure to dry it off well after using and washing it.
For the price, this cleaver is a great deal and looks not bad too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good cleaver, solid, hefty, albeit some imperfections
Overall, for the price of $39.99 Canadian this is a pretty good value meat cleaver. It’s plenty sharp right out of the box, has nice heft and wait to it and it’s easy to use.
I’m a bit less a fan of the handle as well. It looks like wood in pictures up close and in hand feels more like painted or printed on plastic.
I can live with the handle given the relatively low price point and I realize that this isn’t a $100 plus made in Japan or Germany cleaver but made in China. Where it loses a star for me is in fact that it arrived out out of the box with a couple of imperfections unfortunately. The back of the blade (the side facing upward) has some small pitting which is only visible up close, but should not be present on a brand new knife. Also, it looks like it might’ve been dropped prior to being packaged than the box as the back of the handle has a pretty deep indentation and scratch on it.
