Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity

The work has begun in Kenya! Today marked the first day on site for our Global Village trip in Laikipia County, Kenya, where a group of 12 participants from Indianapolis, including Habitat staff, board members, Tiger Team members, and volunteers, began a week of service, learning, and partnership. Throughout the week, the team will be building alongside homeowner Peninah, a mother of two. On day one, the team got right to work, mixing and pouring the entire floor of the home. We're excited for the week ahead as the team learns more about the community, the local housing challenges, and the impact of Habitat's work around the world. Throughout October, our Young Professionals have been turning awareness into action through Haunted for Habitat. 👻 While highlighting the frightening housing challenges many families face on the path to homeownership, they're raising funds to sponsor a 2027 panel build. Those wall panels will become the foundation of a future Habitat home and the start of a journey toward greater stability, independence, and opportunity for a local family. This weekend, we cherished the opportunity to build together with faith communities from across our region during our annual Multifaith Build. Hosted by our partners at Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, 121 volunteers representing 20 faith groups and denominations came together to build the wall panels for two future Habitat homes. It was inspiring to see homebuyers supporting one another and to witness each group putting their faith into action through our shared mission of affordable homeownership. Last week's dedication was a special celebration for neighbors Chadasi and Moawia and Ikhlass as they officially purchased their first homes and began a new chapter as homeowners. 🏡🔑 We're grateful to Carrier HVAC and the CEO leaders who participated in our CEO Build and helped make this moment possible. Rain or shine, we're building together! Our friends at the City of Fishers joined us for a panel build, constructing the interior and exterior walls that will soon become home for a Habitat buyer. We're always grateful for opportunities to deepen our partnerships in Hamilton County and can't wait to see what more we can accomplish together.
