💙 This morning reminded me why this work matters. igniteXL Ventures and Capital F brought together a room of high-caliber female executives, tech leaders, operators, entrepreneurs, legal minds not just to network, but to have a real conversation about capital allocation, wealth creation, and what it means to have a say in what gets funded and what comes to market. Because that's what this is really about. 💰 When women control more capital, the questions in the room change. The companies that get backed change. The problems that get prioritized change. What gets built for all of us changes. 🤔 What struck me most was the talent in that room. Pinterest. Google. M&A. Legal. Decades of experience building, scaling, and advising some of the world's most important companies. And yet for many, this was their first real conversation about fund investing as a vehicle for wealth creation and influence. 🧩 That gap shouldn't exist. And closing it is exactly why we keep building this community. 📣 We talked about what we're backing: → Capital F: where women spend their time, money, and energy and where they're overlooked. Women's health, digital commerce, AI safety. 70% female LPs vs. 6% industry standard. → igniteXL: consumer health and wellness through the consumer lens. Beauty, skin health, functional food, early health screening including the latest investment in Linda Life Tech - a breakthrough in breast cancer screening. 🔁 We talked about vintage years. About why female GP funds have historically outperformed. About why only 2% of VC firms are founded by women and why 17% of checks written by women is both a problem and an enormous opportunity. ✅ Most of all, we talked about agency. The idea that investing in a fund isn't just a financial decision, it's a vote for what gets built. 👏 A huge thank you to Marie Oh Huber for hosting and so generously opening her network of women leaders to this conversation. The quality of the room started with you. 🙏 🤲 And to Dawn Dobras at Capital F — always better together. 🙏 Thank you to every woman who showed up ready to learn, engage, and step into that power. #IgniteXL #CapitalF #FemaleInvestors #VentureCapital #WomenInFinance #LPInvesting #ConsumerHealth #WealthCreation Catharina Min Susan Kim Jean Lee Emily Hansen Jill McNay Molly Finn Soo Kim Venkatesan Sabrina Chueh Ellis Loni Austin L. • A very special and energising way to close out six intense weeks of #K2G 🔥 We celebrated with our founders in Seoul this week at Playa Lounge, co-hosted with Nurihaus Inc., who were a fantastic partner in bringing the evening together. The energy in the room said everything: founders arriving after six demanding weeks still full of momentum, warmth, and real excitement for one another’s progress. Over the course of the program, this cohort collectively put in 665 founder hours, including 17 hours on Zoom, 25 hours in person, and conversations with 33 speakers across operators, investors, founders, and industry leaders. A huge amount of work went into these six weeks — and you could feel that shared sense of pride in the room. What made this cohort special was not just the ambition, but how supportive they became of one another along the way. A strong finish, but very much just the beginning. Excited for what comes next!! 🚀✨ Aram Baek Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나) #KBeautyToGlobal #K2G #igniteXLVentures

  • A very fun and intimate conversation around what beauty founders often underestimate as they prepare for growth-stage capital at K-Beauty to Global with Presca Ahn, Tracey Amara Thompson, and Odile Roujol — sharing what Series A investors actually look for once a beauty brand moves beyond early momentum. A few points that stayed with the cohort: • Korean heritage can be an advantage, but it cannot be the whole story. Global investors ultimately evaluate whether a brand can win beyond geography.
• Brand story still matters deeply at growth stage — not just founder story, but why the brand deserves to exist long term and what world it creates for customers.
• Metrics matter, but so does how founders explain them: LTV/CAC, repeat purchase behavior, margin structure, and the thinking behind the numbers often reveal more than the numbers alone. There was also honest discussion around what makes investors hesitate: defensiveness, weak command of financials, unclear positioning, and entering retail before the economics are ready. Very grateful to Presca, Tracey, and Odile for being direct, generous, and thoughtful with our founders. Sessions like this are especially valuable because they help founders hear how investors really think before they are sitting inside the fundraise itself. ✨🤍 #KBeautyToGlobal #K2G #BeautyInvesting #BeautyFounders #SeriesA #ConsumerVC #igniteXL Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • One session clearly wasn’t enough — we were already talking about a follow-up before this one ended ✨ Very grateful to have Randi Christiansen join #K2G virtually and share the thinking behind building Nécessaire, Inc. — from identifying white space early to knowing when credibility matters more than scale. A few points that stayed with our founders: • Great brands often begin by noticing where consumer behavior is already shifting — and seeing which category has not caught up yet. For Nécessaire, that meant recognizing that wellness had already changed food, fitness, and supplements, but body care was still behind. • Her framework stayed simple: be clear on where you play and how you win. If people say no, often the opportunity is not yet being articulated clearly enough. • She also reminded founders that premium pricing only works when the full system supports it — product, design, story, and customer understanding. Thank you Randi for being so candid — especially on mistakes, discipline, and what it really takes to build with conviction 🤍 #KBeautyToGlobal #K2G #igniteXLVentures #BeautyFounders #ConsumerBrandBuilding #KBeauty Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • A very warm thank you to Deborah Benton and Josh Dau from Willow Growth Partners for taking time during their first trip to Seoul to spend the afternoon with our K-Beauty to Global founders!! A few reminders: • Growth alone is not enough — founders need to know exactly how their margins work, including packaging, shipping, and what repeat purchase behavior looks like underneath revenue. • Repeat matters early: for non-subscription brands, investors want to see signs that customers are coming back because that says far more than one strong acquisition month. • In a crowded U.S. market, having a strong product is only part of the work — founders need to explain quickly why their brand is different, why now, and why they are the team to build it. We’re very grateful for how open the conversation was, and for the time and thought Deborah gave to our founders while in Seoul 🙏🏻 #KBeautyToGlobal #KBeauty #igniteXL #BeautyFounders #ConsumerInvesting #StartupBuilding Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • Thank you to our speakers who led today’s virtual K-Beauty to Global session on Scale Smart: AI, Data & Building Your Dream Team — a conversation our founders found especially practical because every topic connected directly to decisions they are making inside their companies right now. A few founder takeaways from the room: • Before narrowing your target customer too early, test broadly and let actual response patterns tell you where demand is strongest. • For lean teams, AI is most useful when it helps shorten decision cycles — whether that means spotting white space faster, reading reviews more intelligently, or testing messaging before launch. • Keep core strategic leadership close, but many execution roles across finance, operations, design, and customer support can be structured much more efficiently than most founders assume. A big thank you to Jisun Lucie Shin from Trendier AI , Fiona Triaca and Kawal Gandhi from Heatseeker, and David Manshoory from Careers at HireHawk and Alleyoop for sharing such practical and generous insights with our founders! #KBeautyToGlobal #K2G #KBeauty #igniteXL #BeautyFounders #BeautyTech #StartupBuilding Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • Today’s “Money Matters: Cashflow That Fuels Growth” #K2G session had everyone leaning in — because once a company starts growing, cash decisions quickly become strategic decisions. A big thank you to Avia Y. and Jackie Bae for sharing so openly and practically with the cohort. A few highlights that stayed with the room: • Gross margin is the number founders need to know cold — it determines how much room you actually have for marketing, hiring, and scale. • Amazon economics need to be built into pricing from the start — once fees, logistics, and logistics buffers are included, the margin picture changes quickly. • Retail growth often creates long cash gaps — brands may pay for inventory months before retailer payments come back. • The best financing conversations happen before cash becomes urgent, not when options are already limited. A very practical session — and one that gave founders a clearer sense of what healthy growth actually requires behind the scenes 🙏🏻👍🏻 #KBeautyToGlobal #igniteXL #BeautyFounders #ConsumerBrands #BeautyBusiness #Cashflow #FounderJourney #KBeauty Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • Today’s #K2G session with TAEIL KWAK from 씨디알아이(CDRI) gave founders a rare look into how much global expansion can be shaped by regulatory decisions made far earlier than expected. CDRI also generously hosted lunch for the full cohort 🙏🏻 They are incredible hosts! Takeaways: • In the US, compliance often means checking three layers at once: federal rules, state requirements, and retailer-specific standards
• Certain product claims can create unexpected issues later — even wording such as brightening or dark spot claims can affect Amazon or retailer acceptance
• Thinking about packaging early for multiple markets can save significant time and cost later A very practical discussion, and one that made clear how registration strategy can directly affect launch speed, cost, and market readiness. #K2G #KBeautytoGlobal #igniteXL #GlobalExpansion #BeautyFounders #RegulatoryStrategy Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • A heartfelt thank you to Sarah Choi from Cooley LLP for spending part of the day with our #K2G founders in Seoul and making legal topics feel far more approachable than they often do 🙏🏻 The session was especially valuable because it focused on decisions founders often delay until they suddenly become urgent — fundraising structures, entity setup, and the legal terms that can quietly shape a company for years. A few practical reminders that really stayed with the cohort: • Most US investors still require a US entity, but flipping too early can create unnecessary cost before a lead investor is actually in place
• Once a term sheet is signed, most major economic and control terms are already set — which is why founders need to understand them before legal drafting begins
• Terms like liquidation preference, board control, and investor consent rights may seem technical early on, but they often have the biggest long-term impact on founder control Sarah also generously stayed back after the session to answer founder questions one by one. Thank you Sarah!! #K2G #KBeautytoGlobal #igniteXL #Fundraising #StartupLegal Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)

  • A sincere thank you to Tory Kam for taking time out of a short trip in Korea to speak with our #K2G founders and share a candid view of today’s beauty M&A landscape 🙏🏻 Few highlights: • In today’s market, strong growth alone is no longer enough — buyers are looking closely at retention, CRM maturity, and repeat purchase behavior
• EBITDA remains one of the strongest valuation drivers, with quality skincare businesses often benchmarked far more on profitability than headline revenue
• Heavy dependence on one geography or one retail channel creates potential concern in diligence
• Many US investors still require meaningful US revenue and operating presence before engaging seriously One of the clearest messages for founders: if exit is even a medium-term possibility, structure, data systems, and relationship-building need to begin much earlier than most expect. Thank you again, Tory, for making the time and sharing such direct perspective with the cohort 🚀 #K2G #KBeautytoGlobal #igniteXL #KBeauty #ConsumerBrands Claire Chang Amanda Lim Karina Soto (카리나)
