Data Centers now account for close to a quarter of all non-residential building construction in the US, and the claims and litigation that follow are starting to take shape. In the 7th edition of the Built Environment Bulletin, Jason Tasker, MSc looks at what that means for the forensic, enclosure and construction claims markets. He covers everything from moisture risk created by compressed build schedules to a growing wave of noise, air quality and groundwater disputes. The edition also explores private equity's growing role on both sides of the litigation table, the rise in plumbing and HVAC claims, and a unanimous Supreme Court ruling with implications across the construction supply chain. As these disputes become more technical, the demand for experienced forensic engineers and specialist consultants will only grow, and the firms that secure that talent early will be best placed to respond. Read the full edition below, and get in touch with Jason Tasker, or Esme Bartholomew to discuss what these shifts mean for your hiring plans. https://lnkd.in/eFyiWvQi #BuiltEnvironment #ForensicEngineering #ConstructionClaims #DataCenters #MetricGeo

When CONVERGIX Automation Solutions needed a new Vice President of Controls Engineering, Lucas Shaw delivered a shortlist of five pre-vetted candidates within five business days, leading to the appointment of Robert Nelson. That pace comes from knowing the market. Years of working within industrial automation have given Lucas a deep network across the sector and a clear understanding of what Convergix needs, both technically and culturally. That allows every shortlist to be built around the right fit from the outset. In Robert's words, the opportunity was "a strong match from day one, both technically and culturally." - https://lnkd.in/eFFyWvU5 We are grateful to Heather Donohue for sharing her experience of working with Lucas Shaw, and for a partnership that began in 2020. Lucas will be at PACK EXPO International in Chicago from October 18 to 21. If you are attending and have senior engineering or operations appointments ahead, please reach out to arrange a meeting. lucas.shaw@metric-search.com #MetricGeo #IndustrialAutomation #ExecutiveSearch #PackExpo #ControlsEngineering

Day 2 wrapped up! ✅ Tuesday at #WEFTEC is golfs version of moving day. Folks cramming in meetings before flights home and people finally having figured out where every booth is (and who has the happy hours!)! Some great conversations had around industry growth, reasons for optimism on continued sector success but also very topical points to guard against complacency. It’s been amazing to be a part of Metric Geo’s power house of a Water team and seeing the positive impact we are making on the sector. A particular highlight was accompanying Jade Trejo to a booth whom every attendee was someone she had placed within the business! In recruitment we talk about making a positive impact on a sector, I can’t think of a better example! Onto tomorrow and a final day of meeting folks old and new, it will never get old!

The funding for America's water infrastructure is in place. Across 23,000+ attendees at WEFTEC 2026 this week, the question has been who will deliver it. From ageing treatment assets to new regulatory standards, the programs now underway demand leaders who have delivered at scale before, and there are far fewer of them than there are projects. The Metric Geo team has spent the week with utilities, consultancies, contractors and technology providers, and the same critical roles are proving hardest to fill across all of them. Our focus is the people who shape long-term performance in water and wastewater, many of whom are not actively looking to move. You will find the team at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center until the show closes tomorrow. To arrange a meeting before then, reach out to any of the team below. Most leadership development starts with fixing weaknesses. Tracy Perdue, Vice President of Sales at WiBotic, starts with what people already do well. On Voices of Automation, Zachary Gelo sits down with Tracey to unpack the instincts behind teams that consistently perform, and why he believes the traditional corporate approach to development gets it backwards. His view is that building around people's strengths creates the trust every strong partnership depends on. In this clip, he explains why focusing on what people do well gets more out of a team than chasing what they don't. $310 billion in projected savings, and no federal carbon standards left for power plants. The EPA has repealed the 2024 rule that would have required carbon capture and storage at long-running coal plants and heavily used new gas turbines. It is now proposing to remove the remaining federal greenhouse gas standards for the power sector altogether. For an industry that has absorbed more than a decade of regulatory reversals, that is a material shift. Operators have firmer ground to extend the life of existing plants and commit capital to new capacity, just as U.S. electricity demand climbs. Legal challenges are likely, so nothing here is settled. But the planning assumptions have already changed. As power generation strategy shifts, so does the demand for skilled talent across generation, grid infrastructure, and compliance. If you are building out your team for the next investment cycle, speak to Madeline Dohogne - Madeline.Dohogne@metric-search.com #PowerGeneration #EnergyPolicy #CarbonCapture #Utilities #MetricGeo

WEFTEC is the largest water quality event in North America. This year it brings more than 23,000 professionals and 2,200 exhibitors to New Orleans. Metric Geo will be there from 26-30 September. The sector is being asked to deliver more capacity, under tighter regulation, with a workforce retiring faster than it is being replaced. Almost every conversation we have with utilities, consultancies and contractors comes back to the same question: who is going to build and run this infrastructure? This is what our team is going to address at the Morial Convention Center. If you are attending and want to compare notes on hiring in water treatment, comment below or message any of the team directly to book a time. What does it take to build a team that stays and grows? Revisiting our conversation with Sigmund A., Executive VP at Project Farma (PF), on Voices of Automation: https://lnkd.in/eeqzR49b For Sigmund, retention starts with development. Bringing people on board is only the first step; the real work is giving them room to grow in the direction they want.
