THE CARAWAY COFFEE MAKER IS FINALLY HERE. ☕🚀
Today is the biggest milestone for Caraway since we launched the company, and it’s hard to put into words what this one means.
I started Caraway in 2019 after getting sick from fumes after accidentally overheating a pan. While cookware was where we started, the vision was never to build just a cookware brand.
In early investor meetings, I actually hid the fact that I wanted to build an entire portfolio of better-for-you home goods, including appliances, because I knew investors wanted to hear that we were focused on one category. Cookware was always the foundation, but the ambition was always much bigger: to create the first generation of non-toxic homes. It’s why we called it Caraway Home.
Coffee was one of the categories we identified back in 2020.
The opportunity felt obvious. Coffee is such a huge part of our everyday lives, yet in most coffee makers, near-boiling water travels through plastic components before it reaches your cup. At the same time, coffee makers have somehow become more complicated, with more screens, settings and buttons. And most of them aren’t exactly something you'd be proud to display on your counter.
Our approach was simple: brew coffee, not plastic.
Building it was anything but simple.
It took 5+ years, 200+ iterations and 10+ pending patents. At one point, three years into development and roughly 75% finished, our original factory partner dropped the project because it had become too difficult. We nearly lost the entire project and could have walked away. Instead, the team started over.
What came out of that is a Coffee Maker we designed completely from the ground up with no plastic touching the brewing process. A stainless steel water path, showerhead, brew basket and reusable filter. A glass reservoir and carafe. And the whole machine is controlled with one dial, because your morning shouldn’t require a manual.
And yes, it makes a damn good cup of coffee, brewed to SCA standards.
We’ve built a lot over the last seven years, but this is hands down my proudest moment as a founder because it feels like the beginning of the Caraway I always believed we could become.
To the incredible number of people across our team and partners who touched this project: you know who you are. The creativity, ambition, resilience and belief it took to get this over the finish line was truly extraordinary. I couldn’t be prouder of you.
The future of Caraway Home starts today.
