  • During a six-week trial, Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer argued that she should be found not guilty of murder because she killed her children during an episode of postpartum psychosis. Now, he’s asking whether she killed them at all. Legal experts say the strategy is routine, and unlikely to succeed. • In the seventeenth century, leopards were hunted out of South Africa’s West Coast region. 170 years later, they seem to have returned. A small group of seven leopards have been spotted in the region north of Cape Town, including two cubs. Conservationists suggest that fewer livestock farmers and more eco-estates and conservancies have made the region more attractive to the big cats.

  • Dogs decked out in gold fits paraded through the hallways of a Texas children’s hospital, spreading smiles and cuddles to pediatric cancer patients. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. On average, more than 290 children and adolescents in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer every week, according to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Worldwide, about 400,000 children and adolescents develop cancer each year. The pups had “a chance to do what they do best: provide comfort and brighten each patient’s day,” Texas Children’s Hospital said.
