Adam Kiki-Charles posted thisLast week marked the end of my five years at The Equity Alliance. It has been a privilege to work alongside our investors, the emerging managers and founders we backed, and the broader community we were fortunate to be part of. I am grateful for everything I learned and the relationships I built along the way. Looking forward to what comes next!

Adam Kiki-Charles shared thisFrancisco's WSJ piece makes a point that's getting lost in the energy coverage: the Hormuz closure is a fertilizer story, and fertilizer is a food story. Spring planting is happening now. Fertilizer that isn't applied in April cannot be retroactively applied in July. The harvest damage is already being locked in. Proud to be an investor in Helios AI and excited to see their work getting this kind of platform.Adam Kiki-Charles shared thisOur CEO Francisco Martin-Rayo has an op-ed in the The Wall Street Journal today. Here's why it matters: The headlines are all about #energy prices. But the real crisis from the #Hormuz closure is happening somewhere most people aren't looking: #fertilizer. Here's what's actually going on: → ~50% of globally traded urea transits the Strait of Hormuz → QAFCO — the world's largest urea production site — is offline → Spring planting in the Northern Hemisphere is happening right now → Fertilizer not applied in April cannot be retroactively applied in July One grain grower in Australia has access to 15% of the urea he needs for planting. Weeks away. No viable source to fill the gap. That conversation is being replicated from the Punjab to the Po Valley to the Cerrado. Helios AI's base case: global #foodprices 12–18% above pre-crisis baseline by end of 2026 — with structural pressure into 2027. The strait will reopen. But the food system clock doesn't reset when it does. The fuse was lit in February. The harvest damage is already locked in. 📖 Read Francisco's full #oped in the #WSJ (#link in the comments)

Adam Kiki-Charles shared thisProud to see this out in the world. Working on The Equity Alliance inaugural Impact Report has been a valuable opportunity to bring discipline, data, and clarity to how we operate as a firm. Claude Grunitzky's leadership and long-term vision shaped the direction of this work, and we’re grateful for the support of The Rockefeller Foundation in making this initiative possible. Kirsten Lee Hill, Ph.D.’s analytical rigor and research excellence were central to the depth of this report. Owen L. played a key role in shaping the editing and design process, ensuring the final report met the standard we set for ourselves as a firm. This report is more than a record of what we’ve done so far. It’s a blueprint for how our industry can back historically overlooked emerging managers and founders in a way that expands opportunity and drives better outcomes. Excited for what we’ll continue building and proud of the team that made this first milestone possible.Adam Kiki-Charles shared thisI’m proud to share a first look at The Equity Alliance’s inaugural Impact Report — an initiative made possible with the generous support of The Rockefeller Foundation ✨ This report represents more than a year of rigorous data collection, interviews, and analysis. It captures not only the measurable outcomes of our work, but the broader vision that drives us: building a more inclusive, resilient, and future-focused venture community by investing in emerging managers and founders who have historically been overlooked. We have found that social capital is our strategy for superior returns. Our aim is twofold: - To provide a transparent, in-depth view of our progress to date, and - To offer a blueprint for the industry at large — demonstrating what is possible when capital, community, and conviction align. None of this would exist without the unwavering support of our investors, fund managers, founders, and the extended community that continues to believe in our mission. Thank you all for making this work possible. Your trust fuels our commitment to democratizing access to capital and expanding economic opportunity across the innovation landscape 🚀 This is only the beginning. We will produce an impact report every year. The Equity Alliance remains focused on building systems that endure, investing in talent that reshapes the future, and proving that impact and performance are not competing objectives — they are mutually reinforcing. If that job hasn’t yet come through for you; If that thing hasn’t yet worked out for you; If something just got taken away from you; Always remember…. You don’t control the outcome. Yet, you control these 3 things: • Your attitude • Your effort • Your preparation Take it one day at a time. Focus on what you can control. And keep showing up, even on the hard days (like today maybe?) That’s it. REMEMBER… Everything happens for a reason. Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisAdam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisToday is a big day for Enable Ventures. I am humbled to share that we have closed our $50.31 million debut fund, the first market-rate venture fund dedicated to closing the disability wealth gap through investments in cutting-edge, AI-driven technology. We launched Enable in 2022 with the belief that disability-inclusive design could push innovation into entirely new frontiers. I am especially grateful to Jim Sorenson and the Sorenson Impact Group for their early support and partnership. Today, our portfolio includes 11 high-growth companies across worktech, digital health, and assistive technology that are putting that belief into practice. And the secret is out: inclusive technology is not a niche or a nice-to-have. When products are designed from the outset with the disability community at the center, they can be more effective, reach broader markets, and generate both meaningful impact and competitive financial returns. Thank you to our investors, founders, partners, and team for their trust and conviction. Most of all, thank you to my outstanding Enable team members, Charlotte Magee, PhD and Emma Stone! This milestone belongs to everyone who believed in this vision and helped bring it to life. Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisAdam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisIt’s been a while since I posted a moment of gratitude on LinkedIn, but today I want to give a well-deserved shoutout to my younger brother, Uchenna Nwogu, MBA. Uchenna led the team responsible for constructing the facade of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The design features 458 individual concrete letters—each over 4 feet tall—spelling out 103 words from President Obama’s "You Are America" speech. While my brother has built hundreds of bridges and structures across the United States, this project is particularly special. I still remember the moment in this photo when we first arrived in the United States from Nigeria. Uchenna was only 3 years old. Seeing his growth and accomplishments since then is truly remarkable. I am beyond proud and deeply grateful for his journey. #gratitude Prep for Prep Alumni Choate Rosemary Hall Lehigh University

Adam Kiki-Charles liked thisAdam Kiki-Charles liked thisI know I'm a broken record, but Dorm Room Fund is magic because of our people. The The New York Times journalist Erin Griffith got it bang-on today: we stand on the shoulders of giants. And it's true again-- thanks to the DRF community, we've raised a ✨ very-over-subscribed new $50M fund✨, and 💜launched a new brand 💜, so we can keep backing the best student and recent grad/drop-out founders. As our people thrive, so does DRF-- 14 years in, we're lucky to count incredible founders, investors, and LPs in our DRF alumni ranks. 30% of our investors in Fund 2 are DRF alumni and their funds. And it's very on-brand that our most successful investment has been into one of our own-- Michael Truell at Cursor. Today we get an excuse to celebrate all of the amazing people that have made our success to-date possible, folks like Claire Smilow and Aryan Shah who joined as student investors and became investors in our funds. Folks like Josh Kopelman and Phin Barnes who dreamed up DRF in the first place and let us fly when it was time to go independent. Folks like Rei Wang, CeCe Cheng, and Chauncey Kerr Hamilton who shepherded us through our first iterations. Folks like Toni Oloko and Will M. and Kashish Gupta who let us invest in their companies. And people like Bill Trenchard, Ann Miura-Ko, Iris Choi, Hayley Bay Barna, Shane McAndrew, CFA, Lewis Hower, Ekwutozia Nwabuzor, Doug Bernstein, and Ben Cmejla who have helped hold the rudder at moments when things were not going quite so smoothly. Most of all, DRF works because the humans on our team care so very deeply-- so the biggest thank you to Madison Jacox, Conor Harbeck, the DRF student managing partners, and our student investors for making this magic machine so much fun to work on, every darn day. To the DRF Community: let's take a very brief, and very well earned victory lap today! And if you haven't applied to join the student investing team before Thursday's deadline, take this as your sign! #DRF4Life 💜 Article here: https://lnkd.in/gXiPKi5uCollege Students Flex Their Power in A.I. Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisAdam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisPhysical AI is moving quickly from promise to production, but warehouses are a good reminder that great technology isn’t enough. My years working in logistics taught me that robots only work effectively when they can navigate the interplay between people, hardware, software, and operations that rarely go according to plan. Manthan understood that complexity at a level that immediately stood out. He had both an ambitious vision for what warehouse automation could become and a deeply practical understanding of what it would take to get there. He's the kind of founder who made a last-minute, five-hour flight at the peak of a New York winter an easy decision for the chance to convince him to let us on his journey. Today, Destro is operating robots inside some of the largest logistics companies in the world, and I couldn't be more excited to see the team announce their $8M seed round, co-led by Bonfire Ventures and Base10 Partners, with participation from CoFound and Unshackled Ventures. Special thanks to Alexis for introducing me to Manthan. Manthan, Soorya and team are building at the cutting edge of physical AI, and they're just getting started. We're incredibly lucky to be along for the ride. https://lnkd.in/gw4nkNSV

Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisAdam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisThe Stray Works team is growing! We're hiring a full-time Operations & Finance Lead to treat back office and team operations as a form of systems stewardship. Many orgs run finance and reporting as a compliance exercise: check the boxes, highlight the wins, satisfy the funders, keep it trucking. We want someone who can use those same functions to deepen our capacity to learn, sense, and coordinate in the ecosystem we're trying to shift. Think: reporting that shifts how our investor and our peer LPs understand their own role in financial systems change; a fund model designed for portfolio resilience rather than for outsized returns; internal systems that let our small team see what's emerging in the field, and have the bandwidth to act on it. We're evaluating for capacity over credentials, so we're open to both manager- and director-level candidates. This is a hybrid role but NYC-based is heavily preferred. Applications are open for an initial review through Sunday, October 18, at 11:59pm ET. Please share with any interested (and interesting 😉) candidates! https://lnkd.in/gAzqH2CK

Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisToday, we’re announcing our integration with Applied Systems. AI won’t make insurance less human. It will make repetitive work less manual. With Cooper connected directly to Applied Epic, teams can spend less time moving information between systems and more time on the work that actually needs their judgment, relationships, and expertise.Adam Kiki-Charles reacted on thisUsing AI with your system of record shouldn’t require extra steps. Now, it doesn’t. As of today, Cooper is now an Applied Systems Certified Partner. Cooper reads the documents, completes applications and raters, builds proposals, and handles renewals and endorsements. Then, it writes the finished work back into Applied Epic. Your team reviews. Cooper keeps the account record current. For agencies using Applied Systems products: ✅ Connectivity comes included with Cooper ✅ Setup is streamlined through Applied Systems ✅ Cooper AI's integration and data handling is reviewed and pre-approved ✅ Applied Systems remains your system of record; no data migration required Your team's capacity should reflect their expertise, not the time left over after manual data entry. The Signal Every Investor Should Pay Attention To When leading Silicon Valley investors like Vijay Pande (formerly of a16z Bio + Health) and Zack Werner launch a new firm—VZVC—focused exclusively on AI in healthcare, it’s not a coincidence. It’s a signal. A signal that elite capital is doubling down on healthcare AI in 2025, that the market sees real scalability at the intersection of automation, intelligence, and patient impact, and that the next generation of value creation in healthcare will come from AI-enabled efficiency and insight. Mission 3A HealthTech sits precisely at this intersection — where technical innovation meets real-world execution. We believe there is no better investment opportunity than healthcare AI. The sector combines long-term demand stability with massive efficiency gaps — and AI is finally capable of bridging them. As investors chase the next wave, we’re already ahead of it: identifying, validating and investing in these cutting edge companies. We are partnering with surgeons and health systems, and commercializing solutions that drive measurable impact. #HealthcareAI #VentureCapital #Mission3A #DigitalHealth #AI #MedTech #Startups #HealthcareAI #DigitalHealth #MedTech #Mission3A #VentureCapital #AIHealthTech #HealthTechInvesting #ArtificialIntelligence #StartupFunding #FutureOfHealthcare Tempus AI insitro Freenome Stryker PathAI Apple Butterfly Network, Inc. The business models that built digital health over the last decade won't look the same in the AI era. We’re moving from paying for access to software to paying for measurable outcomes powered by software. That shift could fundamentally change how digital health companies build, sell, and create value. I shared a few thoughts on this transition in my latest interview with LSI. 🎥 Watch the full discussion: https://lnkd.in/dfAsVCww Thank you to The Mullings Group, Ido Hadari and Caty Pearl for driving this important conversation. #DigitalHealth #AIinHealthcare #HealthTech #LSI #HealthTechVC Ran Goshen, Ofir Hazut, Saar liraz

Morgan asks the $1TN question: As a healthcare CEO, can you trust OpenAI or Anthropic as your AI one-stop-shop? On the ground implementing AI at healthcare enterprises, the answer is nuanced. It's a trade-off between 2 options: 1. Self-hosted ("Control"): Data security, vendor flexibility, more customizable, more workflow control, but higher maintenance costs. 2. SaaS/API ("Convenience"): SOTA models, built-in best practices, potentially higher availability via SLA, but less workflow control and lower maintenance costs. A hybrid option is emerging: managed AI/automation where you control infrastructure, data, and integration with help from a managed intelligence provider, while the model vendor handles upgrades. AI model companies would be wise to lean into this option. Ultimately it comes down to data security and workflow control. ERP and SaaS cycles taught us that "out of the box best-practice" workflows don't work at enterprise scale without massive customization. AI that learns may ease some of this, but not all. We'll need headless automation that decouples AI models from workflow. Healthcare isn’t evolving gradually anymore. It’s being forced forward. That was the consistent message from the 300+ CEOs and healthcare leaders we had the privilege of hosting at our Wing at JPM Summit. Following the event, my teammate, Ansuman Satpathy, and I put together a 2026 predictions survey to capture how leaders across pharma, providers, payors, regulators, technologists, and investors see the next phase of healthcare unfolding. 👉 The therapeutic modality predicted to have the most impact in the next 5 years? CELL AND GENE THERAPIES, voted #1 by a whopping 44% of leaders (small molecules only got 12% of the votes). Take note, early-stage investors! 👉 Drug development is accelerating, with leaders predicting a 52% INCREASE in FDA approvals over the next decade 👉 Cost pressure is intensifying, with a median 15% expected reduction in administrative costs from AI within three years What excited me most wasn’t just the numbers. It's the shared belief that this moment will unlock truly personalized medicine, better interventions earlier in the care journey, and real progress on access that goes far beyond prescriptions. This is no longer an experimentation phase. It’s an acceleration moment for healthcare and biotech. See how healthcare leaders are thinking about 2026 in the full survey: https://lnkd.in/gt3YREWk @Wing Venture Capital
