Andrew Cross shared thisAnnouncing the launch of Caelium — a new Biopharmaceutical R&D company advancing a breakthrough approach to making the brain stronger. I’m proud to be working with Caelium, a newly formed Biopharmaceutical R&D company developing a novel therapeutic strategy designed to strengthen the brain against degeneration associated with injury and neurological decline. Built on decades of research in neurodegeneration and advanced brain imaging, Caelium is taking a unified approach to conditions that share common underlying biological mechanisms — including Alzheimer’s, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s), Parkinson’s, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This is personal for me. My father lived and died with dementia, and nearly everyone I encounter is affected by neurological decline in some way — as a patient, caregiver, or family member. The need is everywhere, which is why the work Caelium is advancing is so important. As Caelium moves its research toward clinical trials, the focus remains on translating breakthrough science into meaningful therapies for patients who currently have few options. Nucleus is a $40M state-backed venture capital fund with a focused mission: to turn promising research emerging from Utah's universities into something real. We're talking early-stage companies, real investment decisions, and technologies that, in many cases, are still finding their footing between the lab and the market. As a BME PhD student, I spend a lot of time thinking about how science translates out of the lab into something that actually helps people. Joining Nucleus felt like a natural extension of that instinct, just on the commercial side. I'll conduct due diligence, contribute to investment memos, and work alongside a team of analysts and experienced investors to evaluate opportunities across life sciences, deep tech, and beyond.
