Carla Briceno reposted thisCarla Briceno reposted thisCome join my team. I'm hiring an Organizational Development Lead at Bixal. You'd own the OD workstream on a federal digital modernization program end to end: the operating model, the governance behind it, and the change plan that gets it adopted. I'm looking for a hands-on practitioner who will drive the program, work at sprint speed, and share drafts early instead of working in silos.

Carla Briceno reposted thisDid you know that it is possible to volunteer to help people complete their taxes?! I learned this fun fact the first time that I met Justin and I thought you had to be a CPA but it turns out there are great ways to help people in your community without being a tax professional. I love his passion for the agencies mission and I think the government needs more civil servants like him!Carla Briceno reposted thisThis month, we’re highlighting PIF alum Justin Cole, Director of Data Transparency at the Treasury Department’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Justin provides strategic direction for USAspending.gov, the official source of federal spending data, and FiscalData.Treasury.gov, which publishes key datasets explaining America’s finances. In FY25, USAspending.gov reached 6.8 million users, a 95% increase year over year, while the team reduced median download times by 70%. The team also improves data quality through near-real-time monitoring, agency error reporting, and cross-agency collaboration, while expanding public engagement through university hackathons and educational campaigns. Justin and the USAspending.gov team were recently recognized with a 2026 Service to the Citizen Award for building a customer-focused culture. Congratulations to Justin and his team!

I have had the pleasure of coaching Ethel through AnitaB.org, and now I have another reason to celebrate her: she has officially made the move to beautiful Atlanta! You can make a difference in how Ether experiences this amazing city! Ethel is a recent Computer Science graduate from Winthrop University whose interests and experiences reach well beyond one discipline — spanning technology, physics, research, cybersecurity, and leadership. She has already demonstrated something I value deeply: the curiosity to keep learning and the courage to step forward and lead. And now, she is beginning her next chapter in Atlanta. One of the greatest privileges of coaching and mentoring is being able to do more than offer advice. It is being able to open doors, create connections, and help talented people build communities where they can #flourish. So, Atlanta tech community, I am calling on you. Please help me welcome Ethel. Connect with her. Introduce yourself. Invite her into the conversations, communities, and opportunities that make our technology ecosystem so special. Ethel — welcome to Atlanta! I am excited to see what you build, who you become, and the impact you will make along the way. ❤️ #AtlantaTech #WomenInTech #Mentorship #Sponsorship #Leadership #Community #AnitaB

Carla Briceno reacted on thisCarla Briceno reacted on thisWe're excited to share that Dan Levenson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of agile six and will continue serving as President. Under Dan's leadership, Agile Six will continue proving that small teams, equipped with modern technology and focused on outcomes over activity, can deliver better services for the people who rely on them. Dan joined Agile Six in 2018 as our Strategy Lead and became President in 2020. Since then, he has helped lead the company through a period of meaningful growth while staying grounded in our values. Before joining Agile Six, Dan spent nearly eight years in government, including serving as a Contracting Officer at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. His experience on both sides of the table reinforces a simple belief: government can, and should, deliver for the people it serves, and digital services are one of the most powerful ways to make that happen. This transition builds on the vision of our founder and Board Chair, Robert Rasmussen. Robert believes that better government starts with building a deeply human workplace. That conviction remains at the heart of Agile Six: purposeful work and the way we care for one another don’t compete, they make each other possible. To our Sixers, clients, partners, and the public servants we have the privilege to work alongside every day: thank you for believing in what's possible. We're honored to continue building better government together.

Carla Briceno reacted on thisCarla Briceno reacted on thisMuch of the AI governance happening in higher education right now isn't written down in a policy. It's happening in everyday conversations between colleagues who are trying to figure out what's okay to try. On Friday, October 16, I'll be leading a round table at the Second Annual AI and the Liberal Arts Symposium at Connecticut College. The session is called "From Experimentation to Governance: How AI Communities of Practice Shape Institutional AI Adoption." We'll talk about how faculty, staff, and administrators make decisions about AI while institutional guidance is still taking shape. That includes professional judgment, trust, ethical uncertainty, and the work that often goes unseen when people help their colleagues make sense of new tools. This topic sits close to my doctoral research at Fairfield University, where I'm studying AI governance in decentralized higher education. I've come to see governance as something that also grows through conversation and shared learning, not only through top-down policy. If you're attending, I'd love to see you in Blaustein 203 from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. And if your campus has found a way to connect informal experimenting with formal guidance, I'd like to hear how you did it! At VA, Bob has led major incident management for hundreds of critical systems, helped drive a 98% customer satisfaction rating for the Enterprise Service Desk, and cut average IT service restoration time by 60% (we know, pretty incredible stuff!). How do we measure narrative change? I've had lots of conversations lately with smart strategists and evaluators (tagged below) trying to move beyond vanity and short-term metrics to something that feels more meaningful, measurable, AND realistic. Here is what I am sitting with: Narrative change as movement work needs to be evaluated across time and space. 1️⃣ Narrative power and movement work does not happen in a vacuum. It builds off the traditions, learnings, and wins of previous movements and narrative interventions. When we evaluate our work, it can’t be disconnected from that history. The work of previous generations created the conditions for your work; not including that context makes the evaluation incomplete. How could we possibly talk about the contribution of a narrative intervention without locating it in its history? 2️⃣ We are also not likely to see wide-scale systems transformations within our lifetime; for narrative change, a decade at minimum. How can our evaluations serve as a resource for future narrative workers to use as a roadmap and resource? 3️⃣ Your single narrative intervention will not be the thing that changes everything. We know that intuitively, yet we all try to prove our work is the magic wand that changes it all. That's not how change at this scale happens. We work in ecosystems, each playing a role to enable another to do theirs. We need to measure what our contribution to the movement ecosystem allows others to do, and then invest in following the ripple effects of our narrative interventions. I had the joy of collaborating with Nikko Viquiera and Jomaira Salas Pujols on the piece below, where we talk through some of these ideas and more. Would love for you to read it! What do you all think? What could make these ideas stronger? Donorcentric #fundraising is permission-based fundraising. Having served at causes with the most sensitive of issues (e.g. infant mortality) the idea of selling names is unfathomable... this is why I am so proud of the Blue State team for once again raising the bar. Our co-op that is not only values-based but is engineered for better outcomes. Let's talk data!
