Works surprisingly well - cuts bad takes, guides effects - almost instantly. Feels like a new era of real-time software.

Shortly after we launched our upscaler at LetsEnhance, Adobe dropped an upscaling tool right into Photoshop. Investors and friends DM'd me asking what we'd do. That turned into one of our best growth months ever. A small startup can't afford to educate a market. A giant's launch does that for you. You just need the focus to build the best product in the niche and catch the new wave of interest. A founder building a PDF tool once told me he panicked when Apple shipped its own PDF reader - until he realized Apple had just 10x'd his market overnight. When the category grows, you grow with it. Sofiia Shvets shared thisI spent the last two weeks at two AI media conferences - AI on the Lot in LA and Upscale Conf in San Francisco. Here's what I'm seeing: 1. The tools clearly work now, but scale is the main challenge now. Every production I heard about was still doing it case-by-case, building a process from scratch. Another big part is cost - one usable shot might take 20 generations or it might take 200, and it's hard to budget a project around a number you can't predict. But mostly the knowledge still lives in people, not systems. There's no repeatable pipeline yet, and no one has written down how to do this reliably. 2. Every studio there was hiring, and struggling to. They all want the same rare person: someone who understands the craft and the tools, the filmmaker who can also run the pipeline - and there aren't enough of them yet. I pulled the open roles into one list - If you want it, comment "ROLES" and I'll send the active positions. 3. IP owners are warming to fan content. The old instinct was to shut down anything unofficial, but the most-watched AI work right now is fans remixing the characters and worlds they love. Studios have noticed, and they're starting to ask how to lean into participatory, remixable content with guardrails instead of fighting it. A fandom that treats your IP as its own is the cheapest, most loyal marketing there is, and AI just put that kind of participation in everyone's hands. The value is moving from owning the story to hosting what people build on top of it.

Sofiia Shvets shared thisJust got back from AI on the Lot - 2,000 people at Culver Studios, and the mood was very different from last year. The tools got better, so people aren't asking whether they work anymore - they're asking what to do with them. Every studio I talked to is hiring - people who can use the tools and still understand craft. Creators who went early are making more, with smaller teams, on more of their own work. Amazon MGM launched its GenAI Creators' Fund at the event. Regional creators are next; streamers will be hunting them for distribution. But the best part that stayed with me is following: you can visualize an idea in minutes now - bring to life something you've sat on for years. That's the joy of creation and it's back.

Being a founder in 2026 is radically different from any other historic period. Anthropic just dropped this founder's playbook a few days ago, and it lays out exactly why. It walks through the key main stages: idea testing, MVP, launch, and scale - and how each one is different right now. The key idea is this: before, 42% of startups were closing because no market wanted what they built. And that was back when it was hard to build. Right now, when the cost of building is basically moving towards zero- that number is going to climb. a lot! Sofiia Shvets liked thisSofiia Shvets liked thisI've killed about 80 products throughout my career. It's my favorite part about being an entrepreneur. Honestly, I don't even remember the exact number anymore. It could be more. We killed two at Wispr just last week. Most people know Wispr for Flow, but that was the eighth product we built inside the company. None of the first seven solved the problem we set out to solve, so every one of them had to go. Most founders I know have 20 great business ideas a day. Coming up with ideas is easy. Killing them is much harder. By the time an idea is clearly failing, I'm already attached to it. The only thing that makes it possible to kill an idea is being committed to the problem instead of the product. Every idea we build has to answer one question: is this making the customer's life better? It's a yes or no. If it's a no, we take what we learned and build the next thing. With the eighth product, we finally saw a spark. People started using Flow in ways we never designed it for, and the first time it went down, our inbox filled up within the hour. By January, the company was growing at an incredible pace, and we knew we'd found what we should use all our focus on. But the numbers aren't the story, so let me tell you what is. The idea of Osavul appeared in 2022, in the first months of Russian full-scale invasion, with a team that had watched information and hybrid means become a weapon in real time. We didn't have to read about hybrid threats in a report. We lived inside one. What we learned is that what happened to Ukraine is not a one-off. In Europe alone, 200+ hybrid attacks were publicly reported last year. Governments, businesses and ordinary communities are the targets, and the threats are growing. I've built companies before, but this is the first time the problem felt too personal, and the first time I couldn't imagine working on anything else. Sofiia Shvets liked thisSofiia Shvets liked thisReally excited to share that I’ve joined Automated Architecture (AUAR) to lead software engineering team! At AUAR we’re developing robotic MicroFactories for automated timber housing production. Doesn’t that sentence alone sound thrilling! Early this year, I made a conscious and intentional choice to move into robotics. I’m of course interested in the technology itself. I was also looking for a real-world impact that I couldn't find in pure software products. The kind of impact you could classify as “more tangible”. The physical world is the ultimate bottleneck. Automating as much as possible around it is a worthy investment of time in any circumstances. On top of that I had a few other considerations: ❖ Labour shortages. Housing, manufacturing and other adjacent industries would be hit hard by the lack of people over the next 10+ years. Robotics and automation are a no-brainer from this perspective. ❖ Lack of housing. We simply don't have enough of them being built. Investing in technology that aggressively cuts the costs of housing development is the right incentive to increase supply. ❖ Europe-based. Participating in building a global robotics company based in London is gratifying. This is also strategically important long-term because we need to have this critical expertise in Europe. Comparing the definition of full-stack in a SaaS product with full-stack at a robotics company is not even close. There is so much depth and so many edge cases to consider. I have plenty of things to explore/learn, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm fascinated every day by how much the team at AUAR has been able to build and deliver. And I can't wait to share more! We'd just built an app that went viral and picked up 20,000 users overnight. We had no idea who they were. So over a hackathon, we built an AI that could interview them. That hackathon project became bigger than any of us could have imagined. In April 2025, we launched Listen and it’s been a crazy ride ever since. Today, we work with some of the largest companies in the world, including Microsoft, Anthropic, and Sweetgreen. What started as an AI interviewer is now a full platform for understanding customers. Listen finds the right people, interviews them, analyzes what they say, and even simulates how they'll behave. Listen’s growth quickly accelerated and while we were raising our next round, we met Marc Benioff. Marc is a hero of mine. I've taken countless ideas from Behind the Cloud and the more time we spent with him and the team, the more obvious the fit became. With Salesforce, we can bring Listen to every company in the world, much faster. To our customers, our mission remains the same. I stay CEO, Florian stays CTO and the same team will keep building the product you rely on, now inside Salesforce AI Labs. Thank you for believing in us early. To our team, you joined a company almost no one had heard of and stayed late with us more nights than we can count. To our families, who watched us move across an ocean for a dream, and to the friends and investors who supported us before there was much to believe in, thank you. One thing that can speed up PMF and get you customers faster, especially early in your journey, is selling to other startups with small teams that fit your ICP. Yes, startups usually have less money but they move fast. Even if they say a no to using your product. At ImageKit, some of our earliest momentum came from working with smaller teams. The feedback loops were tight, decisions were fast, and we could improve the product in days instead of weeks. Compare that with enterprises. An enterprise deal can take a few months, sometimes even more than a year, just to get a “yes” (or a silent no). The product requirements also lean more toward security and governance, which are essential to them but may not help you validate the core problem you are solving. Selling to startups won’t maximize revenue early but it will maximize learning, speed, and signal. And early on, that matters more. Unless you are solving something specifically for enterprises only, then the startups are actually not your ICP.

But for now my main note to other fellow founders and potential startup colleagues: with the community you can do million times more than being alone. So go outside. Claude/ChatGPT will not replace the value of community gatherings.
