Cindy "CJ" Jones, MA shared thisHappy National Avocado Day. There. I said it. And I feel great about it. I do not remember eating a single avocado growing up. Not one. Then somewhere in the early 2000s, guacamole showed up at every party, avocado toast became a whole personality and suddenly this bumpy green fruit with an identity crisis became the most talked-about thing at brunch. That is a glow-up for the history books. And we are not just talking guacamole anymore. Avocado toast. Salad dressing. Chilled soup. Pasta sauce. It has completely taken over. I have even seen it in fancy ice cream. I have not gotten that daring. Yet. (You know you are already humming "Avocados from Mexico" in your head right now. You are welcome.) Here is what you might not know. 🥑The avocado is technically a berry. 🥑It contains more protein and fiber than any other fruit. 🥑There are 1,062 varieties. 🥑Football fans eat 53.5 million pounds of guacamole on Super Bowl Sunday. And David Fairchild, the botanist who helped introduce the avocado to America in the early 1900s, called it "the veritable fruit of paradise." That was not on my bingo scorecard, but I fully respect it. In 2002, the Haas Avocado Board was established to represent the entire U.S. avocado industry. By that point, the fruit had already figured out its brand. Smart move. And yes — guacamole always costs extra. But it is always worth it. Kind of like me. I could not help it. Cindy "CJ" Jones, MA shared thisI have told this story before, but it is worth telling again. Last fall I battled Dallas traffic to attend the WritersBlock Author Symposium. I walked in the door, found my seat and quietly said a little prayer: please let me be at a great table with interesting people. Prayer answered. One of those people was EC Umberger ✨. What started as a conversation at a symposium turned into coffee chats, lunches, our annual 6 Stones dinner and some of the most energizing discussions I have had about AI and the way it is reshaping how we work. EC was laid off in May 2025 — and instead of rushing into the next thing, he made a decision I deeply respect: he invested in himself. One hundred and twenty-eight hours of self-paced coursework while the AI landscape kept shifting under his feet. He passed his comprehensive final on the first try. He launched his consulting practice before he even finished the certification. And he is now officially certified in AI Consulting, AI Implementation and as a Data Specialist. That is not a pivot. That is a transformation. EC helps professional services organizations use AI in practical, meaningful ways. No hype. No overwhelm. Just real strategy and a roadmap that makes sense for where you are. One of my favorite things about AI is that there is always something new to learn. EC is one of those rare people who experiments, shares what works and genuinely helps others navigate change. I learn something every time we talk. The year behind it is. In May 2025, I was laid off from Placer.ai when the young SaaS company right-sized. It was there I first got hands-on with AI tools, and something clicked. Rather than rush straight into the next role, I made a decision: invest in myself and truly learn AI. Not just one chatbot. Not just one LLM. The real thing. The last fifteen months have been the best and hardest year of my life. The 128+ hours were self-paced, which sounds easier than it is. I was learning the foundational pillars of AI while the landscape itself kept shifting under my feet, breakthroughs constantly adding to the coursework. Invigorating and overwhelming, often in the same afternoon. I doubted myself once or twice. Every time, the Industry Rockstars team showed up at exactly the right moment. (And yes, I passed my comprehensive final exam on the first pass with flying colors! 🎉) What I didn't expect was how much support would come from the people around me: family, friends, and former colleagues who wanted to hear about the journey and lean in. I'm deeply grateful to all of them, and to the mentors and community who helped me launch my consulting practice before I even finished the certification. A few things I'm especially thankful for along the way: ⚖️ A law firm that hosted my internship and let me apply what I was learning in real time: mapping their processes and recommending AI to make them more productive. ✨A weekly virtual networking group leaning into AI, where I got to learn, share, and give back. 🤝 A local monthly networking group where I've been building relationships and helping professionals fold AI into their daily rhythm. 🤩 A handful of special professionals I get to collaborate with: we mutually encourage and challenge each other, and go further, faster, together! The Odyssey — 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, $124 million opening weekend, Christopher Nolan directing, Matt Damon wandering the Mediterranean for 10 years trying to get home. Two thumbs up. I felt personally attacked. Because a senior job search is an odyssey. A real one. The Cyclops is the ATS system — one eye, no peripheral vision, it will crush a perfectly formatted resume before a human ever sees it. You escape only through trickery. (Keywords. So many keywords.) The Sirens are the job postings that say "competitive salary and great culture fit." They sound incredible. You want to sail straight toward them. Do not. They will ghost you probably! Calypso's island is the contract gig that keeps you comfortable but never leads anywhere permanent. Beautiful. Dangerous. Very easy to stay too long. "We'll circle back" is Scylla and Charybdis. You are going to get eaten by one of them. The only question is which. And Poseidon? That is the LinkedIn algorithm. I have no idea what I did to make it angry. But it is angry. Odysseus made it home in 10 years. I am giving myself considerably less time than that. I have 30+ years of experience in marketing, creative services and AI adoption and I am looking for the right full-time role — remote or hybrid. OpenAI just launched ChatGPT Work — and it's a big step forward for how professionals actually get things done. Think of it as moving from asking AI questions to having an AI teammate that researches, analyzes, writes, builds presentations, creates spreadsheets and connects directly to your work tools. Hand it a complex project and it works for hours, then delivers finished work back to you. It even runs on a schedule. So it can keep working while you sleep. And if you're using AI for any serious work task, you’re gonna want to use this. The new ChatGPT experience is now built around three ways to work. ChatGPT for everyday quick questions. Codex for coding. And now ChatGPT Work, a brand new agent that can take action across your apps and files, stay with a project for hours if needed, and turn a goal into finished work. All 3 of these now come together in the new ChatGPT desktop app, with ChatGPT Work also available on web and mobile. Now the biggest difference here is that the Work feature can take on way more ambitious tasks because it’s powered by the brand new GPT-5.6 model. And this is state of the art. For example… One of the best ways I’ve been using ChatGPT Work is to build websites. Before, I could try to vibecode a landing page or personal site, but I’d still have to deal with things like hosting, deployment, auth and databases. So it felt quick and easy, but it actually wasn’t. Now with ChatGPT Sites and Work powered by 5.6, I’m able to build incredible websites right out of the box, that are live and ready to go. All this is only possible because of the upgrades in the new Work feature. But I gotta say, my sneaky favorite feature about this is artifact creation. In order for me to truly rely on AI for work, I need it to be able to flawlessly generate things like docs, mockups, slides, sheets, and PDFs. Because GPT-5.6 took such a huge leap with artifact creation, and the Work feature is designed for such long tasks, I’m able to just throw it messy context, connect it to my external tools, and let it go. ChatGPT Work is available today in ChatGPT on web and mobile for Pro, Enterprise, and Edu, with Plus and Business rolling out over the next few days. In the ChatGPT desktop app, Chat, Work, and Codex are available on every plan, including Free, and is available globally to download on Windows and Mac. I have a whole new appreciation for the players, coaches & fans. The 2026 FIFA World Cup was officially the highest-attended sporting event in history (more than 6 billion viewers) & the most lucrative, with over $9 billion in revenue. Six weeks, 17 LinkedIn posts and one taxidermied raccoon later, here's what I actually learned. 1. Ranch dressing is a universal language. World Cup fans traveled across our entire country & the biggest takeaway was ranch dressing. Not the stadiums. Not the skylines. TSA had to remind fans not to pack full-size bottles in their carry-ons. Ranch dressing changed lives this summer. And don't forget super fan Freddy who discovered small-town America and pointed out what we might take for granted. Who knew? 2. I understand offsides now. Mostly. Next on my list: someone explain "flopping" to me, because I have watched grown professional athletes hit the ground like they've been shot and I have questions. 3. This was the David Beckham World Cup. Ten brand deals. $25 million in endorsements. A Hollywood Walk of Fame star on a green carpet made to look like turf. I'm all for it. 4. The best marketing didn't come from the biggest budgets. Levi's worked around FIFA's strict branding rules. Bank of America's free bracelets resold for $100 on the street. Cafe Bustelo generated more buzz than Adidas or Nike. Show up human & people remember you. 5. I loved every underdog story. Vozinha, Cape Verde's goalkeeper, is now my patron saint for 40-somethings accomplishing big things. Eight saves, four against Messi. And defender Roberto "Pico" Lopes was recruited via a LinkedIn DM while working at a bank. Nobody put these stories on a billboard. Everybody talked about them. 6. Erling Haaland is now America's favorite Norwegian. He left with a $750 raccoon, cowboy boots and a shirt that said "Y'all Can Kiss My Dallas." He also showed the Viking Row to America. And beat Brazil. 7. The U.S. team was a letdown. Pulisic was on every billboard. Starred in ads with Messi. Scored zero goals. Captain America became Captain Invisible. We'll talk about it in 2030. 8. Write down the date. Pedri posted "1 9 0 7 2 6" on Instagram over a year ago. Spain won the World Cup on exactly that date. Believe in it before it happens. Then go win. 9. Showing up when you don't want to is still the job. England & France played a bronze final neither team wanted. France's own defender called it a "chocolate medal." England won anyway in a very exciting game. 10. I learned so much more than just soccer. Branding. Belonging. Underdogs. Accountability. What it looks like when the whole world shows up to the same place at the same time & decides to get along. That's the real magic of it. Spain 1, Argentina 0 — in extra time at MetLife Stadium. Ferran Torres in the 106th minute. Argentina finished with 10 men and zero shots on goal. Zero. Here is the defensive stat that belongs in the history books: Spain allowed only ONE goal across eight World Cup matches — the fewest by any World Cup champion in a single tournament. Ever. They won their way: with depth, patience, composure and intelligence. When the game got physical and emotions ran high, Spain kept playing football. Luis de la Fuente became the oldest coach to win a World Cup, and he did it without a single loss as manager. Let me take you back to how this was set up. Over a year ago, Pedri posted a photo on Instagram. No caption. Just: 1 9 0 7 2 6. July 19, 2026 — the exact date of the Final. He wrote it down. He believed it before it happened. Spain went and won it. Lamine Yamal. Nineteen years ago, Lionel Messi held him as a baby at a UNICEF charity photoshoot. On Sunday, those two faced each other for the World Cup trophy. The baby won. Rodri took home the Golden Ball. Unai Simón won the Golden Glove. And Spain — who also won the Women's World Cup in 2023 — became the first country in history to hold both titles at the same time. The halftime show gave us Ted Lasso, Coach Beard, Justin Bieber, Shakira, Madonna, BTS, etc. Just a regular Sunday in New Jersey. But the moment I keep coming back to is simpler than all of it. Pelé called it "o jogo bonito" — the Beautiful Game. It has always been about more than trophies. Cindy "CJ" Jones, MA liked thisCindy "CJ" Jones, MA liked thisI’m excited to share that I’ve completed the Google AI Professional Certificate, a seven-course program covering: AI Fundamentals AI for Brainstorming and Planning AI for Research and Insights AI for Writing and Communicating AI for Content Creation AI for Data Analysis AI for App Building Completing the program strengthened my understanding of how AI can support nearly every stage of the creative, analytical, and product-development process. From generating ideas and conducting research to analyzing data and building functional applications. One of my biggest takeaways is that the potential to create with AI is almost endless. An idea that once required a large development team and significant resources can now begin taking shape in a matter of hours. But there is an important difference between using AI to create an app and knowing how to build an app responsibly. AI can help generate code, features, databases, integrations, and workflows. What it may not automatically provide is the technical judgment required to ensure the application is secure, properly structured, and designed to protect sensitive or proprietary information. That understanding comes from experience across disciplines: IT project management within a Fortune 500 environment, workflow and systems development, cybersecurity awareness, data governance, testing, access controls, and best practices for protecting information throughout an application’s lifecycle. AI will give you what you ask for, but it will not always give you what you need. The strongest AI builders will not simply know how to prompt an application into existence. They will understand how to question the output, identify what is missing, reduce risk, and build something that people and organizations can trust. I had been developing AI-powered applications before beginning this certificate program, and I’m excited to continue applying what I have learned to products already in development. The certificate represents an important milestone. 6 Stones is a local nonprofit connecting a coalition of churches, cities, school district, nonprofit agencies and other entities to assist in meeting the needs of people in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford community and beyond. Our annual events include Community Powered Revitalization (CPR) - rebuilding homes in HEB and surrounding areas, Operation Back2School Backpack Drive (August) & Night of Hope (Christmas) partnering with HEB ISD to help families in need and a 1-1 mentorship program called Momentum. I was a mentor for our trainee, helping him to learn office skills, such as making copies, filing, cleaning out file cabinets, simple data entry, etc.
