Conor Begley reposted thisConor Begley reposted thisGetting into Costco Wholesale is literally a 1/1,000 shot. When Fathers Beer had the chance they went all in and made their roadshow a spectacle with music, mascots, and merch. It worked. They grew +672% YoY. Conor Begley: “I think a lot of brands at our age would be a little bit scared by Costco — and rightfully so, right?” “Costco came to us very early. ‘Hey, we love your beer, we want it.’ And we're like, well, this opportunity might not come again, so we've got to do it now.” “Now, the problem is that we're not Heineken. We're not some brand everybody knows. So you throw us on the shelf, who knows how we're gonna do?” “And they said, okay, we want to give you a five-warehouse test. And, how many road shows do you want to do?” “I was like, ‘Well, can I do a road show at all five?’ And they're like, ‘I mean, you can. Nobody does that. People do one.’ I'm like, ‘No, no, no. We're gonna do all five.’” “And on top of that, our whole sales team — me, my co-founders — we're out there 8am to 7pm selling our brand.” “If you look at the way other alcohol brands have historically approached Costco: there's a little table with a black tablecloth and four bottles of wine.” “That's it — that's our competition for space. And I'm like, ‘Dude, no. We're all in.’ I've got music, I've got wrapped tables. For the first time in the history of Costco, we had costumed [mascots] walking up and down the aisles.” “We were handing out bottle openers to every person that walked up. We had stickers, coasters. I would meet all the management of every Costco before they opened — two or three times before we got in — so we had good relationships. We just went all in.”

Conor Begley reposted thisConor Begley reposted this🍺 Yes, I am posting a beer selfie on LinkedIn. But hear me out.🍺 What seems like a thousand years ago, I connected with Conor Begley one of the co-founders (at the time) of Tribe Dynamics. For me, watching Conor's journey was beyond inspirational & motivating and NOT because Tribe Dynamics was acquired by CreatorIQ (though that's pretty damn cool.) More because Conor shared the REAL stuff here on LinkedIn. The rock bottom stuff. Laying off employees. Running out of financial runway. Constantly being told his industry bubble had popped and he should just give up. But still he endured and we all know now he's glad he did. Conor's stories of when things were just plain sh*tty have really helped me get through my own hard times with my businesses. For that, I'll always be grateful. So when I found out that Conor launched his next endeavor, Fathers Beer, I immediately DMed him and said where can I buy? He graciously sent me some to try. Yay! Anyone who knows me, knows I love me a good beer. And Fathers isn't just good - it's 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓. I've been telling anyone who will listen about Fathers. This will be my way of paying it forward to Conor for sharing his stories that helped me. TL;DR: Please don't just share your highlight reel. You never know who might need to hear that even the most successful founders face adversity but found a big payoff when they got to the other side. Also, if you like a tasty brew - try Fathers Beer. 🍻 #entrepreneurship #founder #founderjourney #entrepreneur

Conor Begley shared thisWe just spent $11,000 to send 35,000 beers 3,000 miles across the United States in a refrigerated truck. We might be idiots. 🚛 Launching Philadelphia - Our Next Big Bet ----- 🙃 Why we might be idiots Philly is our first market out of California. Conventional wisdom in beer is to grow geographically. This is because beer is heavy so moving it is expensive and beer sells better when it’s “local”. 🤓 Why we might be smart 1. Lane Johnson is a legend in Philadelphia and is an investor and proactive supporter of Fathers. HUGE starting advantage. 2. Gabe our co-founder has been based in Philadelphia for the last 7 years training elite elite athletes and building community. 3. Philadelphia is a BEER town. They love their lagers and way over index. 4. It can be our beach head to other east coast cities and would validate that we aren’t just a “California” brand. ----- 🔍 How we are approaching it 1️⃣ THE BET - I bet $10,000 on the Eagles to win the Super Bowl. If they do, I’m giving away 250,000 beers to the people of Philly. Should be great content all year. Let’s go birds 🦅!! 2️⃣ TAILGATE - Tailgaters love beer AND they love the Eagles. Match made in heaven. We have 7 foot cut outs of Lane, 6 of the largest tailgates carrying Fathers, beer bottle costumes, and all the swag for all 8 home games. 3️⃣ SALES - On the ground sales team focused on bars and restaurants to drive sampling. 4️⃣ PR BLITZ - Our launch was covered in Good Morning Philadelphia (FOX), Philadelphia Business Journal, CPG Wire, Philly Voice, and more. LOVE ereleases.com. Highly recommend. 5️⃣ PHILLY ICONS - Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine will be cooking cheesesteaks, Sean Brady (#5 UFC fighter) and pride of philly, as well as Beer with Alan one of the largest beer influencers in the US, are coming to the game with us! 6️⃣ DISTRIBUTION - Penn Distribution is iconic in Philly and we wouldn’t have launched without them.

Conor Begley reposted thisConor Begley reposted this“The highest-ROI creator budget line for any brand is a flower budget” 💐 I love this insight from Gap Inc.'s Cory Weaver, Ph.D. in Lia Haberman's latest newsletter, ICYMI (spoiler alert: you should not miss it). So I looked into our Kin data. From engagement announcements, to babies, to cross-country moves, to professional accomplishments, creators tracked in our platform share an average of one personal milestone every month 📅 . Across a community of 5,000 creators, that’s 5,000 moments worth acknowledging. 5,000 opportunities for a brand to show up when it matters most and strengthen the relationships with the people behind the content and campaigns driving growth. This isn't about bouquets, and it's not about a 1:1 quota. It's about showing up in the "in-between" times, and being present in your relationships, whether it's with flowers or just a quick note. Start with the relationships that matter most: your VIP creators, the people you want to work with again and again, or the relationships you’re actively trying to deepen. Then decide which moments you want to show up for, and how. At Kin, we automatically surface the meaningful moments happening across your creator community, so the best opportunities to strengthen those relationships don’t slip through the cracks. Because you can’t earn connection with a campaign budget alone. You need a flower budget too 💐 . (as always, message me or comment and I'll get you access to understand the moments that matter to your community and how to put your own flower budget into practice)

Conor Begley liked thisIt's national podcast day, so here's a clip from the The Last 50 Ft. podcast with me talking about restaurant life, Breaking Bad, miniature donkeys, and my dad being proud of me only because I had miniature donkeys. If you know my dad Frank, you understand. Give episode 21 a listen now on Spotify. Link below.Conor Begley liked thisHappy National Podcast Day 🎙️ Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul once came to Hamei Hamedi's restaurant to launch Dos Hombres mezcal. His dad was most impressed by the miniature donkeys. We love that story because anyone who has run a small business gets it right away. Nobody back home cares much about the headline. They care that you pulled it off, that the room was full, and that you made it yours. Hamei spent 15 years in hospitality before joining Autolane. He knows the long nights, the tight margins, and the pride of watching something you built bring people together. That's the view we bring to The Last 50 Ft. Every episode puts the owners and operators at the center. We talk about how they got started, what keeps them going, and how the way businesses reach their customers is changing, right down to the last 50 feet. Autolane is building autonomous delivery to give them more time for the parts they love, like miniature donkeys with their dad. If you haven't listened yet, today's a good day to start. Conor Begley reacted on thisConor Begley reacted on thisAnnouncing Vize Skin! I've been working on this as a side project for a bit now and excited to put it out there finally! Check out our site: www.vizeskin.com. A little bit about the product and brand: - Custom-developed formula, mineral-based hybrid SPF 30 - Tested with 2 labs (one came out with 46 and the other a 30) - 2-in-1 SPF moisturizer so you can skip a step - Derm-formulated/founded so fragrance-free, hypoallergic, safe for sensitive skin - Designed to be a daily skincare item for an adult woman who wants simplicity in their routine The idea came from a few things: 1) I moved to California and became much more conscientious about sunscreen 2) I was watching the rise of K-Beauty sunscreens with their amazing textures and formulas (but USA non-compliant) 3) Wondering why many American sunscreens were on the higher price point for a item that is public health good 4) Watching the online discourse and debate about sunscreen, testing, chemicals, toxicity, etc (people have opinions). Also, the world is changing quickly and skills age just as quickly. I was also excited to do things again, experiment, be a student again. The environment has shifted immensely. The people who I mentored are now my mentors! There are a gazillion brands now and it's so much more competitive (and expensive) than 2017 when we launched Hero. Success is never guaranteed but hopefully we can get more people to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. One thing I learned is that we are all under-sunscreened! I hope you like our first product - Cloudwear Daily SPF 30.

#2CentsTuesday **Cannabis Edibles: A Case Study in Turning Regulation into a Competitive Advantage** Problem: Highly regulated categories (like cannabis) face consumer trust gaps, complex compliance, and fragmented retail/marketing channels. Many brands treat regulation as a barrier instead of a strategy driver. Fact: Cannabis edibles are one of the fastest-growing segments in regulated consumer goods, driven by product innovation, precise dosing, and a focus on safety, consistency, and clear labeling—key expectations in any CPG category, not just cannabis. Benefit: Brands that build around trust, transparency, and rigor in operations are better positioned to scale, command premium pricing, and win at retail—especially as regulations tighten and larger players enter. For Indie CPG founders, a few takeaways: - Treat compliance like a brand pillar, not a checkbox. Clear standards and documentation are marketable assets. - Invest in product consistency and education; the more complex the category, the more customers reward clarity. - Use constraints (regulations, dosing, packaging rules) as creative prompts for differentiation, not excuses for stagnation. Indie founders: - Where are you under-leveraging “trust” as part of your value proposition? - If your category suddenly became as regulated as cannabis, what would break in your current operations or packaging? - How can you proactively tighten your standards now to be “scale-ready” later? The wine industry spends a lot of time debating the wrong problems. - Non-alc. - THC beverages. - Whether Gen Z is “drinking less.” But sitting in a panel today, a retailer said something much more important. Phil Markert, Director of Alcohol at Albertson's Companies, and my new BFF target, made a point that should have stopped the room: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿. In Southern California alone, his biggest group of shoppers are multicultural consumers — particularly Asian and Hispanic. And yet… Wine as a category is still overwhelmingly built for the consumer who built it decades ago. In his mostly Boomer neighborhoods, wine does 70% of his alcohol business. In his (more common) multi-cultural/general pop stores, wine does 18% of alcohol business. We've lost the plot! Because this generation of drinkers looks completely different than most people that run and work at wineries, most buyers, most distributors. This IS the new "general pop." The days of entertaining the shift only on the sidelines are long over. According to U.S. Census projections, nearly 90% of new legal-age drinkers over the next decade will come from OUTSIDE OF Non-Hispanic Whites. A major retailer is openly saying this for an HOUR today on stage. Meanwhile, people in the audience are still raising their hands asking how to drive velocity on shelf with their dry red wines. That disconnect is the real problem. Wine hasn’t just lost consumers. In many cases, wine never showed up in their world to begin with. The imagery that used to be aspirational but does not resonate now. The language that calls for an MBA to understand it. The cultural signals that scream "this is not for you!" When I posted this plea last year, most of what I heard was "we don't have time to worry about that right now, can't you see the house is on fire?" It's non-sensical. I want to do something about it. Companies that I'm partnering with on innovation and retail success are going to see a lot of this reality in the work. I also partnered with two people I deeply respect in this space: sergio alcocer — founder of Rest of the World and one of the most awardedmulticultural creative strategists in the country (and refreshingly not wine centric) Mike Lakusta — founder of EthniFacts LLC and one of the pioneers of multicultural consumer segmentation and forecasting. Together we launched NextGenDrinkers, an initiative focused on helping wine brands understand and connect with the next [actually current] generation of drinkers. Not through stereotypes. Not through trend chasing. Through deep cultural insight and commercially grounded brand strategy. Because the brands that figure this out early will have a massive advantage. And the brands that don’t will wake up one day and realize they’ve been marketing to a shrinking audience. Just ask your AVP buyer.

A BILLION dollars. That’s the valuation Reuters-reported Built explored in 2025 And the wild part? Built didn’t win the protein bar category by “adding more protein.” They won by innovating where the category is most broken: 𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 + 𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 Here’s the dirty secret of protein bars: Most people don’t enjoy them. They tolerate them. Chalky. Dense. Weird aftertaste. A functional brick you eat because you “should.” Built made a different bet: If we can make a protein bar eat like a treat… we can steal occasions from candy, snacks, and dessert. So they engineered the experience. The Puff: a marshmallow-like center + indulgent positioning. Not “pretty good for a protein bar.” More like: “Wait… this is a protein bar?!” That’s genius product-market fit. That’s taste + texture as the strategy. Now look at the traction signals (Built is private, so use public proxies): →132,000 sq. ft. new manufacturing + distribution expansion in Utah →Up to 500 jobs tied to that expansion →Retail footprint including Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, Kroger, Publix →Named a top-ten fastest-growing brand of 2025 (Numerator) →And again: the reported >$1B sale exploration In crowded categories, claims don’t win. Consumption wins. →Better taste + texture → higher repeat →Higher repeat → higher velocity →Higher velocity → retailers lean in (doors, facings, scale) Built didn’t just sell protein. They sold relief: “You can hit your macros without suffering.” 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐭-𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐚𝐬 “𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥”… …𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐭. Because the fastest way to differentiate isn’t just "better macros" It’s a new tasty sensation. 💬 What category is still waiting for its “taste + texture” breakthrough?

Excited to be heading to the Restaurant Leadership Conference in Phoenix this April with the Oscar AI team (April 19–22)! I've been working closely with Oscar AI as they help restaurant operators do something that's genuinely hard to pull off: reduce costs and grow revenue at the same time. They use AI to surface the right insights at the right moment - so operators can act fast without drowning in data. Locations are seeing an average annual savings of $10,000. If you're going to be at RLC, I’d love to catch-up! Grab a time that works for you in the link below, or comment and we can plan to meet up. See you at RLC! #RLC #RestaurantLeadershipConference #RLC2026 #RLC25 #RestaurantTech

December sales surprised a lot of people. On the first grow mode of the year, Jason and Dan break down what actually sold, why many dispensaries feel identical to customers, and what that means for margins in 2026. This conversation is based on opinions, industry observations, and publicly available data. Always do your own research before making decisions.

*Younger consumers to the wine industry*: Make it portable AND resealable. In our latest Business of Drinks episode, Britt West, Chief Commercial Officer at GALLO, explains why Barefoot is betting that 200mL TetraPaks will be the next big growth lever for wine. Today’s consumers — especially Gen Z, as he observes — are looking for: 🔸 Single-serve formats that fit their lifestyles and budgets 🔸 Resealable, grab-and-go convenience for occasions like parties, tailgates, and beach days 🔸 Great quality, with no trade-off in freshness or flavor With advances in TetraPak technology like tighter oxygen control and better product stability, wine can now travel and stay fresh in places that glass — or even cans — can’t. This is a wake-up call for every brand in the category: Format innovation is one of wine’s biggest untapped opportunities. 💥 🎧 Watch the full episode on Business of Drinks #BarefootWine #Gallo #BrittWest #WineInnovation #PackagingDesign #BusinessOfDrinks #DrinksBusiness #GenZConsumers #WineTrends #SingleServe #BeverageIndustry Scott Rosenbaum Caroline Lamb
