The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) follows with 2,401, University of Oxford with 2,121, University of Cambridge with 1,831. At Boston Consulting Group (BCG) the order turns over: LSE first with 2,196, INSEAD second with 2,074, HEC Parisaris third with 1,499. At Bain & Company, INSEAD leads again with 1,527 and LSE holds second with 1,178. Two networks take the first two places at all three strategy firms, in a different order each time. The European baseline sits at 0.232% of alumni for McKinsey, 0.223% for BCG, 0.107% for Bain — a fraction of a percent, concentrated in a handful of names. Cambridge's network is much larger, yet it shows 1,831 McKinsey CVs against INSEAD's 3,112. #alumni #consulting #mba #businessschool #strategy #careers

David Pastrana liked thisDavid Pastrana liked thisWe didnt spend Saturday talking about work. We spent it with the people who make work possible. On Saturday 26 September, Daro Group International held our inaugural Families Day — and more than 60 colleagues and their families came along. The sun showed up, the BBQ did not stop, and the garden games got competitive in a way I don't think anyone predicted. There was a teepee to retreat to when you needed a quiet corner, and a play area that kept the children busy all afternoon. Goodie bags went home with the little ones, there was a “kickabout” on the side, and I am fairly confident nobody left hungry or bored. But the thing I will remember is the noise and the laughter. People from every part of our business, sitting together, chatting about something other than the day job. That is what a day like this is really for. At Daro Group International, we build our business around our people. That means a safe and sustainable working environment — and it means recognising the families who support us every day. Saturday was our way of saying thank you to both. So, a huge thank you from my wife and me to everyone who came along and helped make it such a special day. You made it what it was. See you at the next one! #DaroGroup #FamiliesDay #CompanyCulture #TeamDaro

If you're targeting McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or a top consulting firm, your choice of business school can have a major impact on your recruiting opportunities. Based on Financial Times rankings, here are some of the business schools that stand out — and what they’re particularly known for: 🔹 The Wharton School — strong analytics, leadership development, and a deep consulting pipeline. 🔹Columbia Business School — the NYC advantage, with close proximity to a major concentration of consulting firms. 🔹 IESE Business School — case-method training and a strong track record of placing graduates into consulting. 🔹 INSEAD — a globally oriented MBA with a particularly strong consulting ecosystem. 🔹 SDA Bocconi — strong positioning for consulting careers across Italy and Europe. 🔹 MIT Sloan School of Management — exceptional strength in technology, analytics, and data-driven problem solving. 🔹 London Business School — a major gateway to consulting opportunities across the EMEA region. 🔹 Esade — collaborative, international training with strong European consulting connections. 🔹 HEC Paris — a prominent European business school with strong consulting recruitment. The takeaway? There isn't one single "consulting school." Each institution offers a different combination of geography, recruiting access, alumni networks, academic training, and consulting relationships. If consulting is your goal, those factors are worth looking at alongside rankings. 💬 Which business school would you add to the list? And if you're considering an MBA, save this post for your research. #Consulting #MBA #ManagementConsulting #MBB #BusinessSchool #McKinsey #BCG #Bain #MBAAdmissions #CareerStrategy

Not anymore! Mychal R. and I joined forces to launch the San Diego Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) Club and hosted our first monthly event yesterday. We met with dozens of searchers, discussed sourcing and diligence strategies, and learned more about the upcoming SBA changes from Scott Asbury. We’re meeting on the third Wednesday of every month in different locations around San Diego county. Huge thanks to Scott and Huntington National Bank for sponsoring the event. 🙏🏼 Couldn’t be more excited about where this is headed!

ML and DL remain the workhorse of serious scientific work where hallucinations are not tolerated. · LLMs are inherently uncontrollable Stochastic in nature with trillions of parameters, LLMs are by-design intractable. Its "personality" derives from the writing of billions of humans, with inherent biases and unpredictable behaviors. · Hallucination in LLMs is a feature, not a bug, and can be a creative spark Why using LLMs to verbose mediocre text when it might come up with surprising new combination of ideas that you won’t think of. · Human in the loop is not enough As LLMs spit out pages of text in seconds, interacting with LLMs is like drinking from the firehose. The poor human in the loop will succumb to cognitive surrender. Human has to be in control, not mere in the loop. · Progress is being made in AI hardware While Moore's Law in silicon chips may be plateauing, the blue ocean is new paradigms such as magnetic-based architectures that can be thousand times more energy efficient. · Europe has amazing talent in scientific discovery 60%-65% of Nobels in physics and chemistry in last century are European by birth country. Europeans scientists are on the cutting edge in physics, biopharma, material sciences... The invention to commercialization pipe falls short in Europe. · Philippe Aghion: optimistic about technology, less about institutions -- policy, financing, incentives, regulation – to get things right. · AI can have both inflationary and deflationary effects AI push prices up through competition for talents, energy, and resources. But it also makes many things cheaper to make. It can have a K-shaped impact on labor. The falling birthrate around the world means AI may be replacing workers that we otherwise just won’t have. · Robots + AI does not mean Terminator Turing-award winner Yann LeCun allayed this fear. World Models are built from principles-driven, representation models with goals and hierarchical planning rather than rote learning from data. Physical AI systems built this way is, unlike LLMs, is controllable. It will only do things it is built to do (i.e. serve its purpose). It will not want to destroy humanity unless endowed with the objective to do so. · AI = Aristotelian Intelligence, Augmenting Intelligence, Authentic Intelligence. A few Ways to re-define what AI means for humanity. Instead of just Artificial Intelligence, we need to think about building Authentic Intelligence in ourselves. The retail industry is at an inflection point. Efficiency is no longer just an operational goal; it is becoming existential. In a column for Fashion Mannuscript, Sarthak Brahma, CEO of HEX Advisory Group, explores “The Great Retail Reset: Why Efficiency Has Become Existential for US Retail.” The piece looks at the forces reshaping US retail, from rising costs and margin pressure to AI, automation, and the changing role of global capability centres, and what it will take for retailers to build more resilient operating models. The ultra-high-end (jewelry up +8%, like Tiffany/Bvlgari) and local loyalists in some markets are holding up, but the broad middle-of-luxury handbag-and-ready-to-wear crowd is clearly tightening belts — especially with China still uneven despite slight improvements ex-Japan Asia. Wines & Spirits got hammered again (-9%), perfumes/cosmetics dipped (-1%), while selective retailing (Sephora) did okay (+7%). Arnault's quote sounds like classic corporate spin: "solidity… confidence… innovation…" but he also warned investors that "2026 won't be simple" amid geopolitics and macro uncertainty. Shares tanked ~7% the next day, underperforming peers who beat harder (Richemont, Burberry earlier).
