Dusan Vujovic shared thisWe didn't set out to change the world. We set out to change cocoa. But if doing that lands us on Fortune's Change the World list.. we'll take it 🍫 50 companies. ~200 evaluated. And Fortune doesn't just look at what you say, they look at measurable impact, business results, and whether you're pulling others along with you. That last one matters to us the most. Because Tony's Open Chain now has 20+ Mission Allies sourcing cocoa the right way, and that number keeps growing. This isn't just a trophy for the shelf. It's proof that the model works for farmers, for business, for everyone who said you can't scale impact. Massive shoutout to the Tony's crew making this happen every day. We're just getting started.

Dusan Vujovic shared thisIn just 18 months, Tony’s has expanded its presence in Canada to 4 out of 5 national retailers, alongside a growing number of key regional retailers across the country. To put that momentum into perspective: what took us roughly six years to achieve in the U.S., we’ve accomplished in Canada in just 18 months. Tony’s is already a top 10 chocolate bar brand nationally—and we’re only beginning to unlock our potential in Quebec, while our presence on the West Coast remains limited. What makes this growth even more exciting is that Canadian consumers are embracing both our mission and our tasty chocolate. The response has been incredible, and we believe we’re just getting started. We couldn’t be more energized about the momentum we’ve built—and what we have planned for the months ahead. 🍫🇨🇦🍫🇨🇦🍫🇨🇦🍫🇨🇦🍫🇨🇦 Vlora Salihi

Dusan Vujovic shared thisThis one's been in the works for a while and I'm glad it's finally out there. AG1 is joining Tony's Open Chain as a Mission Ally. Quick context for anyone new to Open Chain: We spent over a decade building a cocoa sourcing model that actually works. We’re talking farm-level traceability, living income premiums for farmers, on-farm support, all independently verified. A few years ago, we made the decision to break the #1 rule in business and open it up. Some would say that’s our USP and we need to gatekeep it at all costs, not us. Because the whole point of Tony's Chocolonely was never to be the only ethical chocolate company. It was to make the unethical way of doing it obsolete. We've got Ben & Jerry's, Feastables, Aldi, and now AG1 on the chain. Different industries, different products, same principle: You can't claim quality if you don't know where your ingredients come from or what they cost the people who grew them.

Dusan Vujovic shared thisWhen I joined Tony's Chocolonely to lead North America, I set a personal goal: I wanted Tony's to become a case study. Not just any case study, the kind my kids could open a textbook and see one day, and know their dad helped build something worth teaching. Today, that goal has been achieved! Columbia Business School has published "Tony's Chocolonely: Scaling a Purpose-Centered Brand," now available through Harvard Business Publishing and headed for classrooms around the world. The case examines the work this team has been driving here in the US: landing in Walmart, Costco, Target, Whole Foods, Kroger and beyond; earning a place on Time's 100 Most Influential Companies; and becoming the fastest-growing chocolate brand in the country. But it's not a victory lap. It's about the harder questions: → How do you build real brand awareness in a category dominated by century-old players? → How do you scale a purpose-led brand when internal research tells you taste, price + convenience drive purchase decisions more than ethical sourcing? → How do you grow Tony's Open Chain (our open-source sourcing model) without diluting the standards that make it work? These are the questions my team works through every day. Now they're questions students at top business schools will be debating. To every professor considering this case for your course, we'd be honored to be on your syllabus. And to every student about to dig in: challenge it, push it, bring your own thinking. That's how this industry actually changes. And to my kids, one day, when this comes up in a class of yours, I hope you're proud. https://lnkd.in/eZ87dnQj #CaseStudy #BusinessEducation #EthicalSourcing #TonysChocolonely

Tony’s ranked #2 globally, getting the top mark in 4 categories: ✅ living income ✅ child + forced labor ✅ traceability ✅ deforestation Annnnd we also won the Gender Award for our progress on gender equality in cocoa! 🏆 Does that mean we’re perfect? No. But we’re working hard to turn our yellows into greens, with new steps in place on agroforestry + pesticide use through our evolved productivity program. We expect to see the impact in the years ahead. 📈💪 HUGE congrats to HALBA - Division der Coop Genossenschaft for taking home 🥇! We’re excited to see another choco brand raising the bar. ’Cause it’s only together that we’ll end exploitation in cocoa. Bar by bar, bite by bite. Wanna unwrap our score? Dusan Vujovic shared thisTony’s has always made chocolate you can’t put down, but our new filled bars are a whole new level. It’s the kind of bite that makes you stop mid-conversation. There's thick layer of chocolate. Then a crack and a layer of something unexpected is revealed. Gooey salted caramel with crunchy caramel bits. Oh-so-smooth ganache. It's not just food, it's an experience. These filled bars are our bet on where things are headed. Texture, surprise, layers. The whole multi-sensorial thing isn't a buzzword to us, it's a product philosophy.

We want commitment – from every cocoa-sourcing company. 👀💍 It’s the only way forward. Not just for the choco industry, but for millions of cocoa-farming families in Côte d’Ivoire + Ghana. Together with our 20+ Mission Allies – aka the other brands that source via our ethical supply chain – we’ve made more impact than ever before. 👉 Proving that our way of working works. The red hot results? ❤️🔥🍫 💵 32,133 cocoa farmers were paid a higher price (= 58% more farmers than the year before!) 🧑🧒🧒 813 children got out of child labor 🌳 42,538 cocoa farms were verified as deforestation-free And it’s all rooted in our long-term commitment to paying farmers a higher price. ✅ This past year, the industry paid farmers more for their cocoa, proving it’s possible. But we need every company to commit for the long haul. 🤝 So we can save the future of chocolate – and finally end exploitation in cocoa, together. It’s now or never. Are you in? (Psst! Dusan Vujovic liked thisThe Asian in me loves an award...so it was awesome to see Baskit win VC Deal of the Year at the Singapore Venture & Private Capital Association gala yesterday!! I'm obviously proud of every deal I work on with Cento Ventures, but Baskit is a particularly special one because I had been following Yann Schuermans's journey even before my time at Cento. In my previous life as a FMCG marketer, I saw how ridiculously difficult managing supply chains can be. Naturally, I had to dig deep into how the team at Baskit was even planning to wade into the fragmented, terrifying jungle that is offline distribution in Indonesia. This award also comes at a particularly crucial time for Southeast Asia, and Indonesia in particular, which is facing what I would mildly understate as "headwinds". Trust in the region is at one of its lowest points in recent memory, and I can't deny that some of the concern is warranted. My counterargument is that the Baskit team proves there are still incredible operators diving into the region's hardest problems and making real progress in solving them. Southeast Asia still has huge challenges ahead of it and, lest we forget - huge opportunities! The founders taking those problems on still deserve attention and support, especially from regional VCs. I've also had too many conversations about AI this, tech that. Obviously, every start-up we invest in needs a technology layer to scale. But sometimes a market can be won through, yes, meaningful technology enablement, but also excellent and detailed GTM execution. That means building relationships on the ground, earning trust with clients, understanding how the market actually works, and doing a lot of damn hard, human work. I think the Baskit team will continue to differentiate themselves through exactly that: a deeply human approach, enabled by technology. Lastly - my mental sanity was preserved only by my team. Yuan Lee C. joined Cento officially in Q3'25 and immediately jumped into leading the deal, showing me exactly why she is the GOAT of SEA. It was such a pleasure and honour to learn from her. Ali Fancy's trauma from his past life dealing with distributors was pivotal in helping us dig out every single doubt and question we had about the deal, and made the investment case much stronger in the process. Dmitry Levit's wisdom, wherewithal and weary trust in us gave us the conviction to lead the round, even in a market and sector that were far from the easiest consensus call. Jolene L.Ka Kay Lum Fanny Yap Lee Buckerfield Geraldine Goh kept us disciplined with questions, intel, SNACKS!!, and supporting me with all the other reporting work (i made MANY mistakes writing my LP reports in that period lol) which I am so grateful for. TLDR: Grateful for everything, Baskit is going to kill it. Can't wait for them to win Exit of the Year next :P Why we invested: https://lnkd.in/gVqAs__d

I lead North American sales at Hirsh Industries, a national manufacturer of office and industrial storage products. Before Hirsh I spent seven years as President & CEO of International Enviroguard, so I look at sales the way an owner does: through pricing, margin, and cash.

At Hirsh I own revenue across retail, e-commerce, wholesale distribution, industrial/MRO, education, government, and OEM. Most of my time goes to pricing, forecast discipline, channel economics, and the handoffs between sales, operations, and supply chain.

I also build much of the account and margin reporting we run on, increasingly with AI. The goal is simple: get clear visibility into customer buying history, product gaps, freight cost, and where volume is moving, so we make better calls before buying another system.

Enviroguard makes disposable protective apparel sold through industrial distribution. We grew by getting narrower: simplifying the portfolio, rebuilding the independent rep model, diversifying contract manufacturing across five countries, and getting honest about what the company was actually good at. Then COVID hit. Demand for protective clothing went vertical and global supply chains broke in the same quarter. I stepped away in 2024 leaving a stronger, more profitable business than the one I took over.

Between Enviroguard and Hirsh, our family moved back to Iowa after eleven years in Texas, and I spent 18 months advising owners and CEOs of manufacturing and distribution companies.

What running a company taught me: strategy fails without pricing discipline and forecast accuracy, and leadership teams perform when people hear the truth early and own a number.

Always glad to connect with owners, operators, and investors in manufacturing and distribution.

Mexico still dominates import beer — but the next wave of growth is coming from unexpected places 🌍🍺 In its February report, Bump Williams Consulting flagged a diverse set of import beer brands gaining momentum after a challenging year for the category, with imports posting the biggest share gains in 2025. While Mexican leaders like Pacifico and Victoria remain at the top, countries including Japan, Guatemala, Haiti and Ireland delivered notable dollar growth despite tariffs, soft category sales and shifting distribution dynamics. Several brands with low weighted distribution are now being positioned as “names to watch” as retailers and suppliers look toward 2026 📊📈 Link to the full story in the first comment below 👇 #BevNET #BeerIndustry #ImportBeer #AlcoholBeverage #MarketTrends #BeerData

Searching for growth? General Mills has announced plans to boldly go after the over 55s in their quest to increase volumes. While much of CPG chases 18-45s or the latest wellness fad, General Mills is placing its bets on three under-the-radar, high-leverage consumer groups: - Adults aged 55 +, who account for nearly half of U.S. households and have enormous spending power. - Consumers using GLP-1 medications (up to 12%+ of U.S. adults), who’re eating less but seeking more protein, more functional nutrients, smaller portions. - Hispanic shoppers, where General Mills plans to ramp up innovation and engagement by ~40% in FY26. This move takes product renovation in new directions - redesigning products and formats to match how people now live, eat and feel. They’re innovating for smaller households (smaller pack sizes), higher-protein need states, functional nutrition and not just indulgence. And this isn’t an isolated move. It’s part of a broader CPG reboot as the absence of growth looms. The premium cigar landscape is evolving, and cigar lounges across the country are feeling the impact. Once dominated by legacy brands and large distributors, the market is now being reshaped by boutique cigar companies that bring authenticity, exclusivity, and stronger profit potential to retail partners. For lounge owners focused on growth and retention, boutique cigars are no longer optional. They are essential. Today’s cigar consumer is more informed and adventurous than ever. Aficionados seek unique blends, compelling brand stories, and limited production cigars that offer an experience beyond the ordinary. Boutique brands meet this demand through small batch craftsmanship, innovative flavor profiles, and a sense of discovery that keeps customers engaged. Unlike mass produced cigars, boutique offerings create conversation. Customers ask for them by name, return to purchase again, and bring friends to try them. This behavior increases foot traffic and repeat visits, the lifeblood of a successful lounge. Higher Margins and Faster Turnover Boutique cigars often provide stronger margins than large corporate brands. Without heavy marketing overhead, boutique companies can offer competitive wholesale pricing while maintaining premium retail value. This creates a powerful revenue dynamic. Lounges earn more per stick while benefiting from faster turnover. When customers perceive a cigar as exclusive or hard to find, they are more likely to purchase immediately, improving sales velocity and humidor performance. The Power of Brand Story One of the greatest advantages boutique brands bring to lounges is story driven marketing. Customers do not just buy cigars. They buy into the narrative behind them. Drunk Chicken Cigars exemplifies this advantage. As a woman owned boutique brand founded by Desiree Sylver, the company stands out in a traditionally male dominated industry. Its bold identity, memorable name, and commitment to quality create a strong emotional connection with consumers. Lounge owners benefit from this built in conversation starter, encouraging engagement and loyalty. Demand That Starts Before the Lounge Boutique brands like Drunk Chicken Cigars generate consumer demand before customers enter the lounge. Through social media, influencer partnerships, and owner led messaging, the brand encourages smokers to request Drunk Chicken Cigars at their local lounges. The lounges that thrive today are those that embrace change. Boutique cigars represent a shift toward experiential retail, higher margins, and customer driven demand. By partnering with brands like Drunk Chicken Cigars, lounge owners gain access to products customers seek, stories that spark engagement, and revenue opportunities that extend beyond the humidor. In a competitive market, differentiation is everything. Boutique cigars deliver that differentiation and are proving to be the key to sustained growth and profitability.
