Elissa Murphy shared thisMost people are unaware that it was Ray Ozzie who was the technical visionary behind Azure and Microsoft's shift to the cloud which he started in 2006 (years before Satya took the helm). An unassuming, humble man - Ray Ozzie is a true visionary (often undercredited) in the industry. Good to see him get recognized for his continued impact on the world of computing. https://lnkd.in/g7bi9itBuilding a Better World through Tech for CollaborationBuilding a Better World through Tech for Collaboration

Elissa Murphy liked thisElissa Murphy liked thisThere isn't a clear playbook for leading through AI transformation, and that's exactly the point. I recently sat down with Kelly MacLean, VP of Engineering, Science, and Product at Amazon Ads to discuss how AI is reshaping both entertainment discovery and advertising. At IMDb.com, we're seeing this transformation firsthand as audiences navigate an increasingly complex streaming landscape to find content that truly resonates. There is a huge opportunity for AI to dramatically improve how people discover what to watch, enabling them to express exactly what they want based on their preferences in the moment. And for advertisers, these moments of discovery represent powerful opportunities to connect with audiences in relevant, contextual ways. What I've learned about leading through this change is if you wait for perfection, it's going to be too late. Our focus is on moving forward through testing, learning, and iterating quickly – creating space for experimentation and reducing the friction that slows adoption. The pace of change may feel unprecedented, but for those willing to adapt and question past assumptions, the opportunities are just beginning. I’m excited to share that I’m starting a new role at Microsoft, leading a team building personal assistants for Microsoft 365 customers. My goal is to help usher in a new generation of proactive assistants, ones that lighten your load by taking on tasks end-to-end, and that can also step in proactively when they can help. As part of this mission, I’ll be partnering with the OpenClaw + M365 community to bring the energy of this work to our customers. We’ve already hit the ground running with a fully integrated Teams plugin for OpenClaw, and I can’t wait to help usher in the era of personal agents at work. On a personal note, leaving the Word team is genuinely bittersweet. Thank you for trusting me, pushing me, and teaching me so much, your craftsmanship, care for customers, and high standards are what make Word enduring. I’ll be cheering you on from my new seat, and I hope we keep building together as the next chapter of Word, and Office, evolves toward an agentic future. Thanks Charles Lamanna for believing in this opportunity, and Sumit Chauhan for providing me the opportunity of a lifetime to lead Word for the past 3 years. 🦞-Omar

As Vast prepares for the launch of Haven-1, their work represents an important step in the next era of human spaceflight, one where commercial innovation expands access, capability, and opportunity in low Earth orbit. Houston continues to be at the center of this momentum. The growing presence of companies like Vast reflects both the strength of this region and the shared commitment to advancing exploration through partnership. At Space Center Houston, we have a front-row seat to how these partnerships take shape, connecting innovation with learning in ways that make the future of space tangible. The future of space is being built right here, and it’s just getting started.

I’ll be focused on helping the PM, Eng, and DS teams that power Pinterest’s ads business. We have an exciting challenge ahead of us: keep improving performance for advertisers while protecting what makes Pinterest special for our Pinners (users). A few reasons I’m especially excited: 📌 I love the consumer product. Pinterest occupies a space adjacent to social, but it’s fundamentally more positive, less about comparison, more about inspiration. My wife is a professional artist, and Pinterest is her go to when starting her creative day. 📌 Pinterest is built for “tasteful” monetization. It’s one of the few places where a great user experience and a great monetization experience can go hand in hand. Ads can feel genuinely helpful and aligned with what people are trying to do. 📌 The growth opportunity is enormous. Recently, I had the pleasure of talking to Krystal Scanlon about the news. Check out this Digiday story: https://lnkd.in/gCGRQ3qB Grateful to Bill, Matt, and the whole team for the opportunity. 📌📌📌Pinterest bets measurement and SMBs will boost performance revenuePinterest bets measurement and SMBs will boost performance revenue

The landmark paper “𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘰𝘢𝘥 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩” (May 2024, Rewiring America & Evergreen Collaborative) laid it out clearly: "𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘶𝘴𝘦 — 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘩𝘺𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘌𝘝𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘝𝘈𝘊 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 — 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺. The IBM/Confluent acquisition is a clear signal that real-time streaming is now foundational to enterprise AI. But it also raises a tough question: what happens when openness and independence become absorbed into a single vendor’s stack? If you're concerned about how this impacts you, I recommend this resource from Cloudera that explains the benefits of an independent, managed, containerized alternative: https://shorturl.at/LYcwD

Excited to connect at #GTC2026 next week in San Jose! We have been heads-down building something that the industry is starting to talk about more and more: using sub-THz frequencies to complement, and in many cases fully replace, short-reach optical and copper cables inside the rack. The timing feels right. Not only is the research and academia community catching up to what we have believed for a while now, but industry itself is. Operating in the 0.1-1 THz spectrum, these links can deliver ultra-high bandwidth and nanosecond-scale latency while eliminating the inflexibility and maintenance challenges of physical cables. What we are building delivers: Zero-flop data transfer within the rack. Flexible, reconfigurable topology on the fly. Up to 1 Tbps per link, with sub-50 ns single-hop latency and sub-10 pJ/bit energy efficiency. A path toward truly wireless-defined compute infrastructure The cable mess inside today's AI racks is a real constraint on density, serviceability, and deployment speed. Sub-THz changes that equation. People don't like changes, but it's inevitable. If you are at GTC and working on AI infrastructure, interconnects, or next-gen data center architecture, let's find time to connect. The conversation is just getting started. #GTC2026 #AIInfrastructure #DataCenter #Interconnects #WirelessCompute #AIHardware

Quantinuum’s planned IPO is the moment quantum finally hits the public markets in grown‑up form. This isn’t another early‑stage SPAC story; it’s a full‑stack platform spun out of Honeywell, with trapped‑ion hardware that regularly tops industry benchmarks and a real software and applications business on top. By combining industrial‑grade engineering with production‑grade tooling in chemistry, security, and optimization, Quantinuum gives investors exposure not just to “qubits,” but to an integrated quantum stack that already serves enterprise workloads. For technical and business leaders, as well as investors, the key question now is how public markets will price a quantum company that actually looks like an infrastructure and software provider rather than a speculative science project. Whatever the final valuation, this IPO will likely become the benchmark for what “mature” looks like in quantum—deep IP, differentiated hardware, and diversified revenue experiments before ringing the bell. Shares of Broadcom fell over 5% on Friday after warnings of a dip in margins sparked investor worries that the business might not be as profitable as they thought. After tech stocks saw a stellar run through most of the year, talk of an AI bubble - stemming from circular financing, where companies invest in their customers, and frothy valuations on the promise of strong growth - has made some question the nature of the market. Still, Broadcom's shares have soared past competitors this year on the back of strong orders for its custom AI processors from customers including recently announced Anthropic, which has over $21 billion in order value placed with the chipmaker. As I'm leaving AWS re:Invent in Vegas, I’m reminded of a counterintuitive truth: competing with the public clouds is often really good business VCs love to ask, “Why wouldn’t the incumbent do this?” But in markets this large (and evolving this quickly) that’s rarely the right question. The real questions are: Who can assemble the best team, get to market fastest and with the most focus? And where are there opportunities to partner with the biggest players rather than compete? We’ve seen this pattern repeat across the ecosystem: -People assumed Vercel and AWS were destined to compete. Today, they’re strategic partners with CEO Guillermo Rauch in the keynote -Snowflake vs. Amazon Redshift. Now, AWS is one of Snowflake’s strongest distribution channels -In Datadog’s early pitches, the concern was, “If it’s just monitoring AWS, why not use CloudWatch?” Fast forward to now, and Datadog is now $50B+ public company We’re going to see the same dynamics play out with OpenAI and Anthropic. These are becoming foundational platforms. But that doesn’t preclude incredible companies from being built on, next to, and even around them. Some will look competitive. Many will end up as partners. And the biggest outcomes often start in those gray zones
