Eric Skae shared thisYameen S., Welcome to Team Carbone Fine Food! I look forward to working with you towards the continued growth of the Carbone Rocket.Eric Skae shared thisI am pleased to share that I am starting as Chief Financial Officer at Carbone Fine Food today. Carbone Fine Food is the fastest growing pasta sauce brand in the country, born out of the celebrated New York City restaurant Carbone. This is an incredible opportunity to join a company with such a strong reputation for quality and craftsmanship, and I could not be more excited to begin this next chapter. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Jeff Stoeckel, Sam Jacobs, and Eric Skae for their trust and belief in bringing me onto the team. Their support throughout this process has meant a great deal to me, and I am looking forward to working closely with them as we build on the strong foundation already in place. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth and success of the organization in the months ahead.

Eric Skae shared thisThank you. Jennifer Conrad for making new Carbone Fine Foods Italian Chili Crisp a part of your story. Our Chili Crisps comprise an exciting new chapter in our brand's growth, and I'm thankful to you for including them in your coverage of this emerging and exciting category.Eric Skae shared thisWe've come a long way since Lao Gan Ma! Yesterday, Carbone Fine Food introduced its take on the Chinese condiment chili crisp, with "a distinctly Italian point of view rooted in the Carbone restaurant experience," Eric Skae told me. It's not the only brand putting a spin on the condiment: at the Fancy Food Show this year, I spotted Mexican, Indian, and Taiwanese versions. Jing Gao, whose brand FLY BY JING, helped mainstream chili crisp in the U.S., understands the appeal. "Chili crisp delivers so much in one spoonful: heat, texture, aroma, and depth," she told me. Eric Skae shared thisNew category for Carbone Fine Food . Eric Skae shared thisAnother big win team Carbone Fine Food! This mighty team of 39 is consistently delivering day in and day out.Eric Skae shared thisWe made the list. 🍅 Carbone Fine Food is officially one of the fastest-growing private companies in America, ranking No. 690 in the 2026 Inc. Magazine 5000. Five years and 30,000+ shelves later, we're still guided by the same idea we started with: bring the standards, quality, and spirit of Carbone to kitchens everywhere. To mark the milestone, Inc. sat down with our CEO, Eric Skae to tell the story behind the growth, from personally tasting every batch in our early days and obsessing over the quality of our ingredients to the products, partnerships, and people that have helped bring Carbone Fine Food to a much bigger table. We've come a long way from the first jar. And we're only getting started. #Inc5000 #CarboneFineFood https://lnkd.in/eYJhddmhHow Spicy Vodka Coffee Creamer and Tomato Candles Turned This Beloved NYC Restaurant Into a $101 Million BrandHow Spicy Vodka Coffee Creamer and Tomato Candles Turned This Beloved NYC Restaurant Into a $101 Million Brand

Eric Skae shared this“What’s in it for me?” From Mr. Potter (Lionel Barrymore) in “It’s a Wonderful Life” to your manufacturer, distributor, broker and retailer that’s the overriding question – and why margins need to be sufficient from the beginning. And for the brand eventually with good margins profitability will come.(And you’re not going to make it up on volume.) Another reason why CPG is the simplest hardest business. #cpg #foodindustry #strategy

We’re honored. #cpg #costcoEric Skae shared this“Saying a food is ‘restaurant-worthy’ is a frequently doled-out compliment, but I actually mean it with Carbone’s Spicy Vodka sauce.” We love seeing our Carbone Spicy Vodka Sauce featured by EatingWell as one of the “5 Costco Finds” a food writer can’t stop thinking about. Bold, spicy, and ready to turn any weeknight pasta into something special. Eric Skae shared this“Dinner Is The Show” is our ethos. Carbone Fine Foods “In Good Taste” celebration, in partnership with GQ at Major Food Group’s exclusive ZZ’s Club during last week’s Fancy Food Show, brought that ethos to vibrant life. Thank you to our retail partners, distributors, brokers and suppliers for coming to what was perhaps our biggest show yet. Special thanks to our Director of Consumer Marketing, Caitlin Skae, for conceiving, organizing and managing this stellar event, and to GQ Magazine for their support throughout. #dinneristheshowEric Skae shared thisThank you NYC! 🥂✨ This week we threw a party at ZZ's Club that we're still buzzing about alongside our partners at GQ Magazine. DJ Zack Fox opened the Simmer Room, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. Mario’s Meatballs and spicy rigatoni kept guests coming back for seconds, while a hidden speakeasy immersed attendees in live jazz and hand-rolled cigars. Between incredible food, unforgettable entertainment, and plenty of dancing, every detail came together to create an experience that was truly In Good Taste. Huge thank you to GQ Magazine for helping bring this one to life, and to everyone who came through, danced, dined, and left with their hands full of goodies. Eric Skae liked thisEric Skae liked thisBig congrats to JP Roque, MBA joining Carbone Fine Food! JP will run through a brick wall for causes he cares about. For Startup CPG, he delivered the Retail Tracker v2 giving brands access to review calendars for nearly all retailers. Before that, I absolutely loved working with him at Machu Picchu, he had an accordion-like capacity to crush everything we threw his way. He's got an excellent skill set across sales, marketing, and data, isn't afraid to tackle any problem, and lives in the joy of this industry. Truly the only person I’ll admit has even more energy to do in-store demos than I do 😂 Excited to see him sauce it up with Eric Skae and team!

Searching for growth? General Mills has announced plans to boldly go after the over 55s in their quest to increase volumes. While much of CPG chases 18-45s or the latest wellness fad, General Mills is placing its bets on three under-the-radar, high-leverage consumer groups: - Adults aged 55 +, who account for nearly half of U.S. households and have enormous spending power. - Consumers using GLP-1 medications (up to 12%+ of U.S. adults), who’re eating less but seeking more protein, more functional nutrients, smaller portions. - Hispanic shoppers, where General Mills plans to ramp up innovation and engagement by ~40% in FY26. This move takes product renovation in new directions - redesigning products and formats to match how people now live, eat and feel. They’re innovating for smaller households (smaller pack sizes), higher-protein need states, functional nutrition and not just indulgence. And this isn’t an isolated move. It’s part of a broader CPG reboot as the absence of growth looms. Lead in vape carts is still a risk. Jeff Rawson, Chair of the Institute of Cannabis Science, explains how leaded hardware can leach into oil and why screening matters. The fixes are simple. Screen hardware before it reaches shelves. Pull suspect lots. Tell customers what to do next. Keep clean records so teams can move fast. This is not a niche issue. It is a public health issue. How are you screening hardware today? 🚨 New episode this Friday, 11am EST on High Functioning Podcast. 👇 Links to RSVP and more are in the comments.

Distribution just sped up and a lot of brands are about to feel it. Pernod didn’t wait. They pulled out of RNDC and reshuffled the map overnight. Southern, Reyes, Johnson Brothers, everyones grabbing territory. Here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud: If you’re sitting on RNDC in those states and you haven’t made the call yet, you’re already behind. 60 to 90 days of chaos is coming. Rep turnover. Account gaps. Missed placements. And while that’s happening, the big three are locking in control. At the same time Tequila’s getting dragged through lawsuits. EU volumes are soft. And one warehouse glitch just cost retailers a peak season. This isn’t noise. This is the shift. My take: If you don’t know exactly who’s moving your product by June, you don’t have a plan. I break it all down in today’s DrinkUP Podcast Daily Industry Brief. Make the call this week. Truthfully, Sam #beverageindustry #distribution #drinkup #alcoholindustry #salesstrategy

The premium cigar landscape is evolving, and cigar lounges across the country are feeling the impact. Once dominated by legacy brands and large distributors, the market is now being reshaped by boutique cigar companies that bring authenticity, exclusivity, and stronger profit potential to retail partners. For lounge owners focused on growth and retention, boutique cigars are no longer optional. They are essential. Today’s cigar consumer is more informed and adventurous than ever. Aficionados seek unique blends, compelling brand stories, and limited production cigars that offer an experience beyond the ordinary. Boutique brands meet this demand through small batch craftsmanship, innovative flavor profiles, and a sense of discovery that keeps customers engaged. Unlike mass produced cigars, boutique offerings create conversation. Customers ask for them by name, return to purchase again, and bring friends to try them. This behavior increases foot traffic and repeat visits, the lifeblood of a successful lounge. Higher Margins and Faster Turnover Boutique cigars often provide stronger margins than large corporate brands. Without heavy marketing overhead, boutique companies can offer competitive wholesale pricing while maintaining premium retail value. This creates a powerful revenue dynamic. Lounges earn more per stick while benefiting from faster turnover. When customers perceive a cigar as exclusive or hard to find, they are more likely to purchase immediately, improving sales velocity and humidor performance. The Power of Brand Story One of the greatest advantages boutique brands bring to lounges is story driven marketing. Customers do not just buy cigars. They buy into the narrative behind them. Drunk Chicken Cigars exemplifies this advantage. As a woman owned boutique brand founded by Desiree Sylver, the company stands out in a traditionally male dominated industry. Its bold identity, memorable name, and commitment to quality create a strong emotional connection with consumers. Lounge owners benefit from this built in conversation starter, encouraging engagement and loyalty. Demand That Starts Before the Lounge Boutique brands like Drunk Chicken Cigars generate consumer demand before customers enter the lounge. Through social media, influencer partnerships, and owner led messaging, the brand encourages smokers to request Drunk Chicken Cigars at their local lounges. The lounges that thrive today are those that embrace change. Boutique cigars represent a shift toward experiential retail, higher margins, and customer driven demand. By partnering with brands like Drunk Chicken Cigars, lounge owners gain access to products customers seek, stories that spark engagement, and revenue opportunities that extend beyond the humidor. In a competitive market, differentiation is everything. Boutique cigars deliver that differentiation and are proving to be the key to sustained growth and profitability.

I chat with Ari Klafter , head distiller and co-owner of Thornton Distilling Company, as well as the president of the Illinois Distillers Association.
