Jeff Clavier reposted thisAnother wonderful journey comes to an end. I am beyond delighted for Eyal S., Roy Gabbay, and the entire Lunar.dev team for their acquisition by Boomi. These guys worked their tails off to build real, differentiated, and valuable technology. It wasn’t always easy and at one point the guys really had their backs to the wall but I had a great partner on the journey in my dear friend Gil Dibner from Angular Ventures. I sincerely hope we get a second go-around with this crew. Onwards!Jeff Clavier reposted thisToday is a big day: I'm thrilled to share that Lunar.dev has officially joined Boomi !!! 🚀 🌖 When Roy Gabbay and I started Lunar.dev, we set out to build the infrastructure enterprises needed to govern the connectivity between applications and the external APIs and services they rely on. As AI evolved, the next version of that challenge became clear. Applications were becoming agents, API calls were becoming autonomous actions, and enterprises needed a gateway layer to govern how AI connects to models, tools, data, and business systems. It is a hard infrastructure problem, and one that becomes more urgent every day as AI adoption accelerates. We chose to build that future with Boomi — the data activation platform trusted by more than 30,000 customers and 800+ partners worldwide. What drew us to them wasn't just their scale. It was the conviction that our technology has a natural home inside the Boomi Enterprise Platform, and that together we can put it in the hands of far more organizations than we ever could have reached alone. This is an exciting milestone, but it is also a deeply personal one. To Roy Gabbay, my cofounder and partner: after more than 30 years of friendship, starting a company together felt like the most efficient way to test whether it would survive. It did. 🙂 To the Lunar.dev team: you built the technology, earned the trust of our customers, and made this moment possible. I could not be prouder of what we achieved together ❤️ 🌝 To our customers and design partners: thank you for trusting us with critical infrastructure and for shaping our product through your honest feedback and partnership. To our investors (Andy McLoughlin, Gil Dibner couldn't ask for better and more supportive partners for this journey), advisors (Joseph (Yossi) Malka you're truly one of a kind), our partners, our friends, and our families (Nitzan Cooper Solomon you are my rock ❤️ ): thank you all for believing in us, supporting us through the difficult moments, and encouraging us to keep going when the path was far from obvious. Jeff Clavier shared thisJuly 13, 2013. That’s the day we closed the seed round of DroneDeploy. I’d met Mike Winn, Nicholas Pilkington, and Jono Millin just a few weeks earlier at AngelPad Demo Day. As always, we did our diligence on the product, the team, and what was then a very nascent drone market. Part of that diligence involved watching them fly some very large drones on Treasure Island. One of the many things that convinced me to lead DroneDeploy’s seed round was the founders’ obvious founder-market fit. They were incredibly smart, highly complementary as a team, and I was genuinely excited by the opportunity to bring drones into Corporate America. It wasn’t an easy ride, though. Most of the startups funded around that time never reached scale, or disappeared along the way. Fast forward 13 years, and DroneDeploy has become a leader not just in drone software, but in the broader reality capture market, building a profitable business and an enviable market position. The road wasn't always smooth. The drone market had its ups and downs, and selling to industrial customers can be a long journey, making the team's execution all the more impressive. Through grit and perseverance, the founders not only navigated those challenges but also successfully expanded the company's reach. Today, DroneDeploy is at the forefront of deploying robots and AI into the Built World. Earlier today, DroneDeploy announced it is joining Procore, a highly complementary partner and a natural long-term home for the company. It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye to a portfolio company, but I am incredibly happy for Mike, Jono, Nick, the entire DroneDeploy team, and everyone who helped build the company over the past 13 years to an $845M exit. Congratulations to everyone involved, especially our co-investors who joined us on this journey. And thank you, from all of us at Uncork and our LPs, for building such an exceptional company. It’s been a privilege to be on your board for the first few years, and to be in your corner all this time. We wish you every success in your next chapter at Procore.Jeff Clavier shared thisBig news today. We signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Procore Technologies. For more than a decade, our customers have said the same thing. Reality capture should be a native part of how they work, not a separate system to reconcile. DroneDeploy is the eyes and ears on the jobsite, delivering the visual intelligence that bridges physical environments across the built world. Together with Procore we can turn visual data into action. Here is what stays the same for our customers: DroneDeploy stays an open ecosystem. We will keep integrating with the systems of record our customers already use across their projects and operations. Owners and operators stay core. DroneDeploy serves the people who build, power, and feed the world, and that doesn't change. Procore serves owners and operators at an even larger scale, and, upon close, our shared vision runs the full asset lifecycle from site selection through operations. Here is what we expect to accelerate: → Intelligent and deeply contextual progress tracking that catches schedule risk earlier to avoid delays. → Fully autonomous capture. Ground robotics and autonomous flight both get more investment. → One record instead of two. A unified platform gives teams one shared record between what was planned and what was actually built. The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/gq_Yka89

Jeff Clavier shared thisSo excited to have you join us, Belle!Jeff Clavier shared thisExcited to join the investment team at Uncork Capital! From my very first conversation with the team, I was struck by the optimism and warmth, and how everyone naturally brings together different stories and perspectives. Uncork has backed founders from the earliest stages, investing in nearly 300 companies, including Fitbit, SendGrid, Poshmark, LaunchDarkly, Tailscale, GPTZero, Groq, Numeral, Ivo, and Loft Orbital. As an operator, I’ve worked closely with founders and AI research teams as they built products from the ground up. That's exactly why I'm energized to partner with deeply technical teams while the company, product, and market are still taking shape. We are sector agnostic, and I’m particularly drawn to AI infra, developer tools, and frontier tech that unlock products that couldn't exist before. Founders, builders, and operators, I’d love to hear what you’re working on! As a harpist, I’d also love to collaborate with creatives on unique events at the intersection of technology and the arts. Grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way. 🥂 Here’s to uncorking the next chapter with an incredible team: Susan Liu, Amy Saper, Andy McLoughlin, Jeff Clavier, Tripp Jones, Isha Mehrotra, Adriana Roche, Tilly McLain, Jess J., Catie Young, Ashley Cravens, Joyce Lee, Ilan C., and Whit (Whitney) Bouck!

Jeff Clavier shared thisSuper excited to welcome Ilan Cedillos as our first Head of Comms!Jeff Clavier shared thisI'm very happy to share that I've joined Uncork Capital as their new Head of Communications! I'll be working directly with our founders on how they tell their story to the world and also building the Uncork brand. I’ve always believed that a great product, while essential, isn’t enough, and neither is credibility. You can have real traction and great customer logos and still be invisible if the world doesn't understand why you matter. Being an early-stage founder is profoundly hard. You're bringing something from zero to one, and most of the time the world doesn't know you exist yet. That’s why the role of communications at that stage, I truly believe, isn't just to get the word out. It's to help a company find clarity, bring people into your worldview and create belief in what you're building. I’m excited to have the opportunity to do this work with such a storied firm and incredible team. Grateful to Andy McLoughlin Amy Saper, Jeff Clavier, and Adriana Roche, and the entire Uncork team. Let's go!

Jeff Clavier reposted thisJeff Clavier reposted this📣 Exciting team news! I'm thrilled to announce that Ilan Cedillos has joined Uncork Capital as our first-ever Head of Communications! Every year we get the whole team together at our annual offsite to figure out what would make the biggest difference to our founders for the next 12 months. This year, one priority rose above all others: storytelling. When it costs almost nothing to build software and five companies show up in a market in the same quarter, the one that can explain why it exists tends to win. We decided storytelling deserves the same dedicated investment that we've put behind talent and go-to-market. Ilan is a comms person at heart who's also done brand and product marketing at the early stages. At Uncork, he'll be working directly with our founders on narrative, positioning, and how they tell their story to the world. More on Ilan's background and what this means for our founders here: https://lnkd.in/g_ju9Huy Welcome to the team, Ilan!

I’m thrilled to be working alongside this powerhouse team: Jeff Clavier, Andy McLoughlin, Susan Liu, Amy Saper, Tripp Jones, Ashley Cravens, Adriana Roche, Joyce Lee, Tilly McLain, Jess J., Catie Young, Nichatorn (Belle) Tangkuptanon, Ilan C., and Whit (Whitney) Bouck. Since joining in February, I’ve had the opportunity to work across AI infra, vertical AI, consumer tech, frontier tech, and beyond. Looking forward to continuing to partner with more incredible founders - if you’re building in AI or robotics, I’d love to chat!

Jeff Clavier reposted thisJeff Clavier reposted thisI'm so proud of Edward Tian and Alex Cui, the Founders of GPTZero. Three years ago I met Edward in his dorm room at Princeton and asked him what would he build if I gave him a million dollars to seed his company. Today, they announced that they are being acquired by Superhuman for quite a bit more than that. A great outcome aside, GPTZero has been such a fun ride. Building an amazing team is fun. Building a market leading product is fun. Growing so fast that it feels like the walls are shaking is so fun. And it's all because Edward and Alex made it happen - did I mention that I'm proud of them? I'm a little melancholy because my chapter with GPTZero is ending, but I'm so excited to see what Edward, Alex, and the entire team can do next. It's going to be fun to watch. I'm very grateful for my amazing co-investors, Nikhil Basu Trivedi at Footwork, Ali Partovi at Neo, James Kim at Reach Capital, and Jack Altman. Huge thanks to Jonathan White for making everything work. Special thanks to Ayushi Sinha for giving me Edward's phone number in the first place, which was the little thing that led to a really fun three years. https://lnkd.in/gA9dZ_WrA Princeton grad built a $30 million AI detection business. You can't spend a few hours with Travis and not feel incredibly fired up. He talked about finding your life’s work as a matter of becoming deeply self-aware, so that “when the right thing comes, you'll know.” His journey, from Uber to now building three companies in one, is one of the most inspiring founder stories out there. Honored that New Media gets to help tell his story and partner with the Atoms team.

Jeff Clavier liked thisJeff Clavier liked thisTwo acquisitions, one rationale. Both tell you the same thing about where Physical AI value accrues. Last month Autodesk paid $3.6 billion for MaintainX, its largest check ever, at roughly 26 to 27x forward ARR. It did not buy the software. It bought the operational data layer underneath: how machines run, fail, and get fixed in the field. That data is the fuel for AI in the physical world, and it is not for sale anywhere else. This week Procore paid $845 million in cash for DroneDeploy. Same logic. It bought roughly 20 trillion square feet of reality capture and more than 100,000 labeled safety issues so its AI could see the jobsite, not just read the paperwork. Procore said it plainly: access to the right data is what separates a demo from a mission-critical product. Two incumbents, two quarters apart, both reaching for the same asset. The labeled, physical-world data an AI needs to act. Neither could rebuild it. So they bought it. Now the part that matters for those of us underwriting the row. DroneDeploy was only 15% to 20% agriculture. The ag data was real, but construction set the price. Same pixels, different willingness to pay. That is the tell. The sensing layer just got bought twice, and in both cases the value was priced by the market with the buyer, not the market with the hardest problem. Which points at what is still being built. DroneDeploy captures the field. MaintainX records the machine. The layer that actually acts on the acre, ag-native, autonomous, compounding a record of physical work no incumbent can reconstruct, is the asset these comps tell you a buyer eventually has to reach for. Not the hardware. The un-replicable record of a machine doing the work. The sensing layer got bought. The acting layer, on the row, is the next one. Compute over chemistry. From the row up. Congratulations Jeff Clavier, Kevin Spain and Rory O'Driscoll.

Today, in at least partially related news, I'm pleased to share that DroneDeploy signed a definitive agreement to join Procore Technologies. Hexcel Adds Independent Director in Deal With Activist Investor "Hexcel added a new independent director to its board in a move that avoids a potential proxy fight for the aerospace materials company with activist investor Vision One Fund. "As part of an agreement between the two sides, Vision One will withdraw their nominees to the board that were to be voted on at the company's annual shareholder meeting. Vision One will also support Hexcel's board nominees, and agree to certain standstill restrictions and mutual non-disparagement provisions, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday. "The new director, former Kaman Chief Executive Officer Neal Keating, was appointed effective Tuesday." Keating's experience in aerospace may make him an ideal director choice. Yet from a bigger picture perspective, I wonder if this settlement is the right move for investors. More and more activist campaigns are settling rather than running the full process of a proxy fight with typically a greater number of directors nominated by the activist. Hopefully, activists are becoming like the public company boards they battle, i.e. more focused on reaching consensus than big results. #governancearbitrage #proxyfights #corporategovernance #activistinvesting #valuecreation https://lnkd.in/gazBUGFp

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg

You can have groundbreaking science, elegant engineering, and even early customer interest. But without this one thing, you don't have an investable business. After two decades running IP strategy projects and now leading UC Berkeley's Deep Tech Innovation Lab while building the Berkeley Gateway Accelerator, I've watched countless brilliant technologies die in the valley between breakthrough and business. The problem isn't what most technical founders think it is. It's not about having better tech. It's not about getting more funding. It's not even about finding product-market fit. The fatal flaw shows up much earlier—and it's almost always the same mistake. In my latest piece, I answer questions from a Taiwanese entrepreneur about what really separates deep tech ventures that scale from those that stall. Including one provocative suggestion for Asian ecosystems that has nothing to do with technology. Honored and excited to partner with Drew Baglino and the incredible team at Heron Power as they re-imagine the electric grid for the modern world. Power in America is not zero sum. We deserve access to cheap and abundant electricity and we should win the AI race. And we must build the capacity to manufacture critical technology here at home. When faced with existential challenges, we deploy technology against them. And we win.
