JILL PETERSON BURNS shared thisStill trying to wrap my head around the fact that Conor Burns has officially graduated from UVA. He showed up in Charlottesville eager to learn—he found his stride, his people, and a real passion for healthcare and business. UVA challenged him in all the right ways, from tough classes to opportunities that helped him step into leadership and mentorship roles-- as a TA he helped support the academic experience of 2900 students! Now he’s heading to Los Angeles to start his next chapter in healthcare private equity. We’re so proud of the person he’s become—and so grateful to UVA for helping shape him. #UVA #McIntire #HealthcareBusinessJILL PETERSON BURNS shared this#Classof2025 Conor Burns didn't end up in medicine—but his heart never left #healthcare. Originally from East London, he came to UVA and McIntire with a growing fascination for the #business behind better patient outcomes. Through leadership roles, supportive faculty relationships, and a pivotal internship at Enhanced Healthcare Partners, he found his path. Now, he's preparing to return full time as a Private Equity Analyst—ready to drive innovation where business meets care. #FoundationsOfOurFuture https://shorturl.at/f02fzClass of ’25: Conor Burns Is Healthcare Business BoundClass of ’25: Conor Burns Is Healthcare Business Bound

JILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisJILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisI'm so grateful. I joined 200+ incredible women at Canva in Austin (which has the most amazing female founder and philanthropist), brought together by Ladies Who Launch. Thank you to Sarah Friar and Kelly McGonigle Squier for starting an organization that really shows up for women founders. My 3 takeaways: 1) Having the support of fellow female founders matters. And face-to-face time really matters to me. 2) Pay it forward. While I'm still a small business learning, I am energized by supporting those just starting out, or even by being their first customer. 3) As a Ladies Who Launch grantee, we spent 6 weeks prior focused on incorporating AI into our business. Initially, I focused on how AI would give me more time for other parts of my business. Leaving this event, I'm reminded that AI can also give me more time to spend with people, not behind a computer. So here's to being re-energized and ready to take on the next business challenge with the support of other founders! JILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisJILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisWHEN A MAJOR RETAIL WIN BECOMES YOUR NEWEST COMPETITOR. Costco isn’t just selling functional beverage brands. It’s learning from them and competing, with the latest example being Kirkland Signature Hydration, a sugar-free electrolyte powder that enters territory largely built by Liquid I.V. Costco's Kirkland Signature 40-stick variety pack sells for around $20 in warehouses, or approximately $0.50 per serving. The formulation is also difficult to dismiss as a basic private-label imitation: 500 mg sodium, 400 mg potassium, 640 mg chloride, 40 mg magnesium, 100% daily value of vitamin C, Wellmune for immune support, and No sucralose or acesulfame potassium This follows Costco’s launch of Kirkland Signature Sparkling Energy earlier this year, which went directly into Celsius, AlaniNu and Positive Energy territory: 200 mg of caffeine, zero sugar, three flavors and 24 cans for $16.99, or about $0.71 per can. Different format. Same strategy. A branded company invests years and millions of dollars educating consumers, establishing a daily habit and proving that a category can generate meaningful retail velocity. Once that demand is clearly established, Costco can see what sells, how frequently members repurchase it and how much of the price is tied to the brand name allowing Kirkland to then introduce a well-formulated alternative directly in front of millions of loyal Costco members and remove one of the biggest barriers to trial: price. This isn’t a criticism of Costco. It’s an important reminder for every emerging CPG company. Winning placement at Costco can be a transformational milestone while also giving one of the world’s most capable private-label operators a front-row seat to your entire category. Being first isn’t enough and a formulation alone probably isn’t enough either. The strongest brands will need to combine great products with distinctive positioning, protected intellectual property, constant innovation, diversified distribution and a genuine emotional connection with consumers. Costco can recreate a format and undercut a price but they cant automatically recreate the reason consumers specifically ask for your brand by name. If your largest retail partner launched its own alternative at half the price tomorrow, would your customers remain loyal? That's one of the most important question functional beverage founders should be asking right now. #BeverageIndustry #CPG #Costco #PrivateLabel #FunctionalBeverages #BrandStrategy Independent industry commentary. JILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisJILL PETERSON BURNS liked thisI am NEVER going to be the guy with the perfect 5 a.m. routine. Meditating, journaling, sun coming up, all of it. CrossFit, cold plunging, fasting, plant-based, sugar-free... I have tried every one of them and I have quit every one of them, usually somewhere around week three. What I actually do is way less impressive. I walk. I take calls on walks. I play with my kids. I get outside when there is a window, and sometimes there is no window... and that's just how the day goes! For years I thought this stuff was about how hard you could push. Grind harder, sleep less, wear it like a badge. Turns out your body is a lot harder to negotiate with than your calendar is. Travel shows up. Stress shows up. A late night? Oh, it definitely shows up. And the thing that actually got me was realizing how connected all of it is. Sleep affects patience. Stress affects decisions. Recovery affects how you lead. I am not letting a number run my life, but I am paying attention now in a way I never used to. Mindset too. What I put in my mind, who I spend time around. The stories we tell ourselves have a funny way of becoming the lives we actually live, and I think about that a lot. People ask me about health and recovery like I am supposed to say I reset in a cabin somewhere with no signal. I would last a few hours... MAYBE. By hour two I am off down some road trying to find a local to grab coffee with. That is not a reset for me. That is a punishment. 😂 😂 My reset is Abby and the kids. And music. Spending an hour in Hotel California with my music collection and my family makes me a different person, especially when there's a great concert on the calendar. Abby is really the one who leads our family on all of this. She is more experienced and more educated than anyone I know, and she has CHANGED my life, in every sense of the word. Thank you, D CEO, for the Fit to Lead feature in the September issue, which also ran alongside D Magazine's Healthcare Annual package. Jim Keyes, Taylor Shead and Drew Slone are ROCKSTARS, and all four of us said something completely different, which is the WHOLE point. Let's win. 🤘 https://lnkd.in/eW4iVPgH #RogersHealy #MorrisonSeger #DCEO #Dallas #LeadershipDallas Leaders Share Fitness Habits for High PerformanceDallas Leaders Share Fitness Habits for High Performance

Dallas-based premium cocktail brand, Avenue 8 Cocktails, has expanded its Texas retail footprint by more than 350% since the end of 2025, growing beyond its initial Dallas-Fort Worth base into Houston, Austin and additional Texas markets. For founder Tiffany Jones, those numbers reflect something larger than the growth of a young brand. They point to a consumer whose expectations for alcohol are changing. “Consumers have become incredibly sophisticated about what they eat, what they put on their skin and the ingredients in the products they bring into their homes,” said Jones. “Alcohol shouldn’t be the exception. People are turning the can around, reading the label and asking better questions about what they’re drinking.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eEEHA9k8 #rtdcocktails #readytodrinkcocktails #cannedcocktails #alcoholindustry #spiritsindustry
