Josh Wand shared thisMy feed is filling up with faces of founders headed to Malibu next Thursday for Founderland, and I keep having the same thought: “I can’t wait to see them.” Followed pretty quickly by, “I need to make sure they connect.” Because when the right people are in the same space IRL, great things tend to happen. That’s what Founderland is about: bringing exceptional founders, retailers, strategics, and partners together and creating the environment for meaningful connections and partnerships to flourish. And yes, founders deserve their moment in the spotlight. Looking forward to reconnecting with friends, creating new partnerships, and bringing great leaders together. This is the place where founders have fun and deals get done. Founderland. October 1. Malibu. 🌴 Sean Kelly Shannon Kelly Colleen Kang Christine Wang The Family Fund & Founder Community

Josh Wand shared thisThis is going to be one of the most electric parts of Founderland.us. 12 promising companies + all-star group of judges. There’s nothing like watching a founder take the stage with a few minutes to turn a big idea into something an entire audience believes could be even bigger. 1:00 PM → IMPACT Pitch Slam, presented by Boldr 2:30 PM → INSPIRATION Pitch Slam, presented by Rho 4:00 PM → INNOVATION Pitch Slam, presented by Whop Three minutes to pitch your biz. Three minutes with the judges. One shot to make your company impossible to forget. A huge thank you to DoorDash Ads for powering the Pitch Slam Stage and giving these founders a platform to be seen, heard and discovered. And to our partner sponsors for each putting their name behind a competition and helping us spotlight the next wave of ambitious founders and consumer companies That kind of support matters. It’s what turns a pitch into a connection, a connection into an opportunity, and sometimes an opportunity into something much bigger. Because you never know which company will step onto this stage and become the one we’re all talking about a year from now. October 1. Malibu. Founders, bring the heat. 🔥 Jack Savage Sean Kelly David Sudolsky George Zhou Jacob Peters

Josh Wand shared thisGet ready for a thought provoking panel at Founderland.us on one of the biggest shifts happening in consumer right now. AI X Commerce - Turbocharge Your Brand With a Tech Edge Moderated by Christine Wang, The Family Fund & Founder Community, with: • Mishbah Uraizee, Nectar • Joel Toledano, ChargeUp.ai • Rob Gregg, @stand+ All three founders are building at the edge of what AI can unlock for consumer companies across commerce, operations, customer intelligence and brand building. From an investor perspective, this is where it gets really interesting. AI is creating a new operating model for consumer brands. More empowered teams. Faster decisions. Deeper consumer insight. More leverage at every stage of the business. The companies that understand how to combine great brand, product and community with AI are going to be able to build in ways that simply were not possible before. At The Family Fund & Founder Community, we are right at that intersection of consumer, community, commerce and AI. That is where the next generation of category defining companies will be built. Josh Wand shared thisThese founders/CEOs are helping shape the future of modern beauty, and we’re absolutely elated to bring them to the Founderland stage this year for: Beauty, Rewritten: The New Rules of Building an Iconic Beauty Brand Featuring Ju Rhyu, Ani Hadjinian, Lisa Guerrera, and Sid Katari, moderated by Colleen Kang of The Family Fund & Founder Community. They’ve built, operated, innovated, and led through one of the fastest-evolving categories in consumer. We’ll dig into how iconic beauty brands are built today, what’s changing, what still matters, and where they believe the category is headed next. Couldn’t be more excited to have this incredible group with us in Malibu on October 1st. Sean Kelly Christine Wang Shannon Kelly

Josh Wand shared thisFounderland.us is right around the corner, and for all that we’ve built into the day, the thing that matters most is simple: who you meet. My hope is that everyone leaves with a few relationships that could change the trajectory of what they’re building. Someone who gets what you’re trying to accomplish. A retailer or strategic who can open the right door. A future partner, customer, mentor or board member. Or someone you never expected to meet who becomes a lifelong friend. That’s the point. We’ve designed Founderland around those moments. Not just what happens on stage, but what happens in between. Places to sit down, share a meal, talk shop and let a conversation go a little longer than planned. For us at The Family Fund & Founder Community, it’s about bringing together the founder community and consumer ecosystem we believe in, backing great founders and surrounding them with the people who can help them grow. Capital will be raised. Retail relationships will be built. Strategic partnerships will come together. Deals will get done. But the real magic is creating the environment for those things to happen naturally. We’ve been keeping a lot under wraps. Here’s a little sneak peek at what’s coming October 1 • Nearly 50 one-of-a-kind brand activations, each a true expression of the founder behind the brand. • A Bodega powered by PLTFRM, filled with discoveries from across the consumer world. • The Female Founders Lounge, powered by Piper Sandler and Janica Lane, creating a dedicated space for women founders to connect and collaborate. • The Family Fund Green Room, bringing together founders, CEOs, speakers, retailers, strategics and partners throughout the day. • A full afternoon of panels and Pitch Slams, bringing incredible founders, ideas and stories to the stage. • Farm-to-table food at the Stord Camp Grill, because some of the best conversations happen while breaking bread. • The Founderland Awards Ceremony, presented by DoorDash Ads, celebrating the people and brands shaping what’s next. • Music, cocktails, mocktails and cigars around the campfire from 7–10 PM. Doors open at 11 AM in Malibu, and we’ll go all the way through 10 PM. There’s a lot to experience, but leave a little room for serendipity. Sit with someone you don’t know yet. Make an introduction and pay it forward. Share what you’re building and what you've learned. Stay in the moment a little longer than you planned. You never know where one conversation can lead. Can’t wait to bring to bring the industry together in Malibu. Sean Kelly Shannon Kelly Colleen Kang Christine Wang

The U.S. wine category is shrinking. Bonanza Cabernet keeps growing anyway. That's worth looking at if you're in any business where the category is moving against you. U.S. wine sales fell roughly 6% in 2024 (SipSource). Wine Intelligence (acquired by IWSR) forecasts volume dropping at -2% CAGR through 2027, faster than the -1% pace from 2017 to 2022. Regular wine drinkers aged 21-34 fell from 29% of the base to 23% between 2019 and 2023. The board decks all have the same sad category chart right now. And then a $20 Cabernet from the Caymus Vineyards family just keeps taking share. According to Impact Databank, Bonanza launched at 131,000 cases in the U.S. in 2020 and has added 60,000 to 80,000 cases every year since. Double-digit volume growth. The category was falling the whole time. We dug into how. Four things stood out. 1. They priced against the occasion, not the shelf position. Bonanza lives where a weeknight steak dinner lives. Around $20. The slot was crowded but no one held it with real winemaking credibility behind them. Silicon Valley Bank's 2025 State of the Wine Industry report found the top quartile of premium wineries grew revenue 22% in 2024. The value-with-credibility window is open. Has been for a while. 2. They borrowed trust rather than building it cold. Chuck Wagner's name is on it. Decades of Caymus equity, spent carefully on a value tier without pulling the flagship down with it. That's genuinely hard to do. Heritage brands tend to hoard the halo or blow it. Bonanza did neither. 3. They dropped the rules the buyer never cared about. No vintage on the label. No single appellation. They blend across California lots to hit a consistent taste profile every time. Wine people were unhappy about this. Buyers at Costco Wholesale and Total Wine & More were not. The person grabbing a bottle on a Tuesday just wanted it to taste the same as last time. Bonanza built for that person. The consistency thing is probably the most transferable idea here for anyone building a consumer brand outside wine. 4. Supply structure did the real work. Multi-region sourcing means they buy fruit where the value sits each year. Cost structure moves with the market. A Napa-only brand at that price can't follow. The wine world sells vintage variation as romance. The grocery shopper reads it as inconsistency. Bonanza picked a side and moved on. A declining category and a growing brand at the same time. It's not rare, actually. For any team staring at a flat or shrinking market: the category number is an average. Find the occasion that wasn't priced for. Use trust you already have. Ignore the rules your customer never knew existed. What brand in your category is pulling this off? Drop it below. If this is useful, follow me on LinkedIn. We do this regularly across growth, transformation, and value creation. #WineIndustry #BrandGrowth #MarketStrategy #ConsumerInsights

*Younger consumers to the wine industry*: Make it portable AND resealable. In our latest Business of Drinks episode, Britt West, Chief Commercial Officer at GALLO, explains why Barefoot is betting that 200mL TetraPaks will be the next big growth lever for wine. Today’s consumers — especially Gen Z, as he observes — are looking for: 🔸 Single-serve formats that fit their lifestyles and budgets 🔸 Resealable, grab-and-go convenience for occasions like parties, tailgates, and beach days 🔸 Great quality, with no trade-off in freshness or flavor With advances in TetraPak technology like tighter oxygen control and better product stability, wine can now travel and stay fresh in places that glass — or even cans — can’t. This is a wake-up call for every brand in the category: Format innovation is one of wine’s biggest untapped opportunities. 💥 🎧 Watch the full episode on Business of Drinks #BarefootWine #Gallo #BrittWest #WineInnovation #PackagingDesign #BusinessOfDrinks #DrinksBusiness #GenZConsumers #WineTrends #SingleServe #BeverageIndustry Scott Rosenbaum Caroline Lamb

Searching for growth? General Mills has announced plans to boldly go after the over 55s in their quest to increase volumes. While much of CPG chases 18-45s or the latest wellness fad, General Mills is placing its bets on three under-the-radar, high-leverage consumer groups: - Adults aged 55 +, who account for nearly half of U.S. households and have enormous spending power. - Consumers using GLP-1 medications (up to 12%+ of U.S. adults), who’re eating less but seeking more protein, more functional nutrients, smaller portions. - Hispanic shoppers, where General Mills plans to ramp up innovation and engagement by ~40% in FY26. This move takes product renovation in new directions - redesigning products and formats to match how people now live, eat and feel. They’re innovating for smaller households (smaller pack sizes), higher-protein need states, functional nutrition and not just indulgence. And this isn’t an isolated move. It’s part of a broader CPG reboot as the absence of growth looms.
