Marc Shepard reposted thisMarc Shepard reposted thisAtlantic City, here we come! 🔥 I’m heading to NECANN Atlantic City next week, and I’m excited that Blunt Brunch is back hosting the Women’s Lounge on the show floor for two days of connection, conversation, collaboration, and community. We’ve built the lounge to be a place where you can step away from the traditional expo experience and actually meet people, exchange ideas, build relationships, and have conversations that can continue long after the conference. A few moments I’m especially looking forward to: ☕ Coffee, Pastries & Community Welcome with Jade Stone Branding 🎤 Leading Out Loud — a conversation around building visibility, influence, and confidence in business with JM Balbuena, Katie Motta, and Jennifer Makris, MBA 🫂 Speed Networking + Vendor Hour — dedicated time to make new connections and discover businesses in the community with brands like Jade Stone® | Cannabis Branding Agency, THC GIRLS and more. 📸 Women in Business Group Photo — one of my favorite Blunt Brunch traditions! ☕ Café con Comunidad with the Latino Cannabis Alliance, sponsored by Green Renaissance, honoring Hispanic Heritage through stories, leadership, and connection 🌟 Pour Into Your Power — community networking and time to connect with our supporting partners 🎤 Beyond the Booth — a conversation I’m especially excited about with Ayanna L., Beth Conway and Ali Fakhri on how cannabis events are creating community, revenue, and real business growth What I love most about bringing the Lounge to conferences like NECANN is the opportunity to create intentional moments inside a much larger event. Sometimes the connection that changes your business happens during a panel, sometimes it happens over coffee, during speed networking, while visiting a sponsor, or standing next to someone before a group photo. You just have to create the space for those connections to happen. If you're heading to Atlantic City, come spend some time with us in the Blunt Brunch Women’s Lounge on September 18–19. And please come find me and say hi, I want to know what you're building, who you're hoping to meet, and how we can connect while we're all in the same room. 🤍🔥

The HighBridge team had the opportunity to spend the week with the High Grass Farms and Belushi's Farm teams at NECANN, connecting with industry professionals, sharing our products, and learning from some of the best people in the business. One of the most memorable parts of the week was watching Jim Belushi engage with attendees. Whether he was signing posters, speaking on a podcast, or performing at the after party, his genuine passion for cannabis and helping people was evident in every conversation. We also loved introducing attendees to our new Majical MockTales™ lineup and showcasing the fresh new look of Majical Ice TeaZ™. To everyone who stopped by the booth, snapped a photo, or simply said hello, thank you! NECANN delivered great conversations, new connections, and plenty of memories. 10/10 would attend again. #HighBridgePremium #NECANN #MajicalMockTales #MajicalIceTeaZ #SipTheMajic #HempBeverages #CannabisIndustry #ChasingMagic

Marc Shepard liked thisMarc Shepard liked thisWe wrapped up a busy four days for Salal in Atlantic City at NECANN, our third cannabis industry event in three states. I was there with Rodolfo "Rudy" G. and Fady N., and it was a great way to close out the week. Along with plenty of opportunities to connect with people across New Jersey’s cannabis industry, NECANN brought together experts from a range of fields to share information and perspectives relevant to this emerging market. We also had the chance to talk with several equipment vendors about Salal Credit Union's new Streamlined Business Lending solution and how it could support the businesses they work with. It was great to hear directly from vendors about what they're seeing and to discuss where the solution could be useful. Oregon, New York, and New Jersey in four days made for a busy week, with a lot of great conversations and new connections along the way. Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect with us. I'm looking forward to keeping those conversations going. Federally insured by NCUA. #CannabisIndustry #CannabisBanking #NewJerseyCannabis

Marc Shepard liked thisMarc Shepard liked thisJust got back our incredible photos from Roberto Simbana of the Latino Cannabis Alliance Cafe de Communidad at NECANN NJ in partnership with Blunt Brunch led by the amazing Adelia Fakhri! The Latino power in the room was loud and proud, with folks representing dozens of different Latin American homelands. @latinocannalliance is not even six months old yet and we’re already seeing how powerful a united latinidad in this space can be. From organizing the canna community to oppose ICE, facilitating connections among our Latin industry leaders, and empowering our people to take political action at the local, state and federal levels, we are building the infrastructure of real power, and we’re just getting started! Huge special thanks to Adelia Fakhri for aligning forces with us to put on such an exciting event. ¡MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS HERMANA! And big ups to Roberto Simbana for the epic capturing of the energy in the room! Latino Cannabis Alliance Board members in attendance: Jessica F. Gonzalez, Esq., Gaby Collantes and JM Balbuena

We feel our approach of creating unique conventions focused on the current state and potential of each local market we come to is a superior alternative to the generic national canna-convention franchises that pop up everywhere. Rather than focusing on what the Cannabis Industry can do for us, NECANN takes a collaborative approach with the local industries and communities for our conventions, which has resulted in consistently high returns for exhibitors, sponsors, attendees, and the local cannabis market as a whole, allowing everyone to benefit and grow.

Rhode Island adult-use retail licensing: key facts and upcoming deadlines Rhode Island’s Cannabis Control Commission is currently reviewing applications for the state’s next round of adult-use retail dispensary licenses. What we know so far: 98 applications submitted for 24 retail licenses License allocation: 12 general retail 6 social equity 6 worker cooperative Maximum of 4 licenses per geographic zone Zoning requirement Applicants must submit final municipal zoning approval to remain eligible. The CCC’s published timeline places this requirement in early March (March 1–2, pending final guidance). Applications without finalized zoning approval will not advance. Application review process Applications entered a 90-day state review period on January 1 The CCC expects evaluations to conclude by the end of March Qualified applicants are expected to move into a lottery-based selection process, currently anticipated in May Market context Rhode Island currently has 7 operating adult-use dispensaries Since adult-use sales launched in late 2022, those operators have generated $300M+ in total sales This licensing round represents the largest retail expansion since legalization Progress in this round depends first and foremost on meeting the zoning requirement by early March. State review and lottery timelines only apply to applicants who clear that threshold.

🌱 Proactive Decontamination: Elevating Crop Value Before Lab Testing In New York’s evolving cannabis market, every gram counts — not just in yield, but in quality. As the Metrc deadline approaches, producers are under increasing pressure to ensure their products meet strict compliance standards. One critical step often overlooked is microbial decontamination before samples ever reach the lab. 🔬 Why Microbial Counts Matter • Lab Results Define Market Value: High microbial counts can lead to failed tests, costly remediation, or even product loss. • Lower Counts = Higher Value: Clean crops not only pass compliance more easily but also command stronger pricing and consumer trust. • Consistency Builds Reputation: Producers who consistently deliver clean, compliant product strengthen their brand and secure long-term contracts. 🚀 The Proactive Approach Instead of waiting for labs to flag issues, forward-thinking cultivators and processors are investing in pre-lab decontamination services. By reducing microbial loads early, they: • Protect their harvest investment. • Avoid delays and rejections. • Position themselves as leaders in quality and compliance. At Big Apple Decon, we use Rad Source Q+ and Quastar Photonic technology to deliver precision decontamination that preserves product integrity while lowering microbial counts. This proactive step ensures that when your samples reach the lab, they reflect the best possible version of your crop. 💡 The Bottom Line In a competitive market, compliance is the baseline — but quality is the differentiator. Producers who prioritize decontamination before lab testing aren’t just protecting their license; they’re unlocking higher value for their products and building trust across the supply chain. 👉 If you’re a cultivator, processor, or lab looking to strengthen your compliance pipeline, let’s connect. Together, we can make proactive decontamination the standard for New York cannabis.

Curious about the challenges and triumphs in the cannabis world? In the latest episode of MyFlora Fridays, Anna Schwabe, PhD sits down with Kate Avruch, who's spent over 10 years building a career across nearly every corner of the Massachusetts and New England cannabis industry. Some of what they cover: - Kate's path from trimmer, where she discovered a severe plant allergy, through manufacturing, extraction, kitchen work, and dispensary openings, to becoming a business owner and operations consultant - How testing thresholds and regulations shape product quality, and where "common sense" oversight is still missing - The incentives driving THC inflation, and the gaps in enforcement and remediation practices - Workforce challenges across the industry: low pay, limited benefits, and unclear career paths - Why packaging, marketing, and effect-based purchasing can mislead consumers, and the case for clearer labeling that includes breeder and genetic information - Where retail is heading: online ordering, privacy needs, and the growing role of AI tools - Kate's work in optimization, training, and social equity programs A grounded look at what it actually takes to build a career, and a business, in cannabis. #CannabisIndustry #CannabisRetail #Workforce #IndustryInsights #MyFloraFridays
