Marcus Leach shared thisAfter nearly a decade at KPMG, I’m closing an important chapter today. The photo on the left is from when I joined. On the right, nearly a decade later: fewer suits, a family of my own, a few more gray hairs, and countless great experiences and relationships in between. I’m incredibly grateful to the clients, colleagues, and teams who trusted me, challenged me, and made the last ten years so meaningful. I’m excited for the next chapter and the new role ahead. More on that soon…

Marcus Leach shared thisToday, our KPMG US Miami team traded laptops for work gloves and turned our Community Impact Day into a beach cleanup at historic Virginia Key. Alongside our partners at Miami Waterkeeper, we have hauled off hundreds of pounds of waste/microplastics from this beach over the last 5 years. Awesome work team! #KPMGCommunityImpact

Marcus Leach shared thisOnly 17% of North American companies are fully prepared for what’s coming in sustainability reporting. Looking forward to sharing insights alongside Josh Hesterman and Laurissa Maddocks this coming Monday (sign up for free live webinar below!). 📅 April 13th 2026 | 🕒 10:30 AM EDT | 💻 Online | EN A few findings that stood out: ✔️ 74% say regulatory compliance is the primary driver for action ✔️ 42% cite data silos as their biggest barrier ✔️ 44% rank technology as the #1 investment priority — yet only 27% have achieved end-to-end automation ✔️ 43% are already aligning with CSRD despite being headquartered outside the EU Compliance is clearly the trigger. But the companies moving fastest are the ones treating sustainability data as a strategic asset, not just a reporting obligation. Register now for free here: https://lnkd.in/dR3zGW_i

Marcus Leach liked thisMarcus Leach liked thisToday, after a 25-year run, September 30, is my last day with KPMG and the end of my 35-year professional career. As I look back on my career and the path that brought me here, I find myself thinking less about individual accomplishments and more about the people who made them possible. There are far too many to thank individually, but a few deserve special recognition. • First, my parents, Jim and Joan Estes. Everything I have been able to accomplish in my life started with the foundation they gave me — their love, support and belief in me. I will always be grateful for everything they have done for me and our family. And now, I get to go enjoy retirement with them! • Pat Martindale, who gave me my first career opportunity out of OU at Martindale Consultants, Inc. Pat’s mentoring, focus on client relationships and passion for O&G gave me the foundation and drive for my career. • Daniel O. Chesnut, who hired me into KPMG in 2001 at a major transition point in my career. I was tremendously lucky to join KPMG's internal audit practice (“MAS” back then) at exactly the right time. Within a year, Enron had collapsed, much of the Arthur Andersen Dallas office came to KPMG, and Congress (in its infinite wisdom) passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. I made Partner with Tate Anderson in 2005, and the next 24 years were a blast. • And most importantly, my wife, Deborah Estes. Throughout all the long hours, travel, moves, opportunities and challenges that came with my career, she has been the leader of our family. Her love, strength and support made it possible for me to pursue the opportunities I was given while knowing that the most important part of my life — our family, Grace, Anna and Michael — was always in her great hands. Over the last 25 years, KPMG has given me more opportunities, experiences, friendships and memories than I ever could have imagined. I’ve had the privilege of working with remarkable clients and colleagues, building and leading teams, mentoring talented professionals, and developing friendships that will last long after my final day with the firm. To everyone who has been part of this journey: thank you. You made my career and my life far richer than I ever could have planned. Retirement doesn’t feel like an ending as much as a transition. I’m looking forward to more time with family and friends, more travel and adventure, more time on the water sailing the Caribbean or boating on Canyon Lake, and continuing to find ways to give back to communities and organizations like the American Heart Association that I care so much about. Today I close an extraordinary chapter with tremendous gratitude. And tomorrow, I get to find out what retirement is all about!

Marcus Leach liked thisMarcus Leach liked thisTime to roll credits on 12 amazing years at KPMG. The list would be far too long to post here, but to everyone who made an impact along the way: you know who you are. What's next? A nap, fall break with the family, and finishing a wildly backlogged list of repairs and renovations at our house. And yes, I'll be back at it professionally soon enough. Thank you all for your time, energy, insight, and care for me and my family. You've given me more than you'll ever know, or than I could ever give back. Not a goodbye, just a see you later!

Marcus Leach liked thisMarcus Leach liked thisThis Wednesday, I’m retiring from KPMG. After more than 35 years in various organizations, it’s hard to sum up a career in a few paragraphs—but it’s easy to say what made it special: the people. I’ve been lucky to wear a lot of hats along the way, including leading our US Finance Transformation practice and, most recently, our global Advisory Managed Services business. What I’ll remember most are the people I worked with, the challenges we figured out together, and the friendships that grew along the way. To my colleagues, past and present: thank you. I’ve worked with so many talented, thoughtful, and generous people. You taught me more than you probably realize, challenged me to be better, and made even the long days enjoyable. I’m proud of what we accomplished together, and grateful for all the laughs along the way. To the clients I’ve had the privilege of working with: thank you for your trust, your partnership, and the opportunity to be part of your teams. I learned so much from you. Working through tough problems together and seeing that work make a difference has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. And to the mentors, partners, and friends who gave me advice, opened a door, or took a chance on me: I haven’t forgotten it. Thank you. As for what’s next, I’m taking the next three to six months to enjoy more time with family, trade business trips for vacations, catch some live music, visit interesting destinations in my jeep, and hopefully land a few big fish! After that, I may be open to an interesting opportunity with great people. We’ll see. In the meantime, let’s stay in touch. I’ll still be up for coffee, a good story, and a chance to catch up. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. I feel very lucky to have shared it with you.

Marcus Leach liked thisMarcus Leach liked thisThere is an interesting point in a career when experience can either make you comfortable or give you the confidence to begin again. I choose the latter. One of the lessons woven throughout Hands That Built Me is that very few of my most meaningful chapters began with certainty. The Army required me to grow. Working internationally required me to adapt. Building a career in energy required me to keep learning. Leadership required me to understand that what got me into the room would not necessarily be what made me effective once I arrived. And each new chapter required something else: the willingness to be a beginner again. Experience is valuable. But experience coupled with curiosity is powerful. No matter how much we have accomplished, there should always be room for a new challenge, a new lesson, and perhaps even a new version of ourselves. I am looking forward to what the next chapter will teach me. #HandsThatBuiltMe #Leadership #CareerJourney #Growth #Purpose #WomenInLeadership

Marcus Leach liked thisMarcus Leach liked thisJust wrapped an inspiring few days at NY Climate Week! Reconnecting with incredible partners like United Nations Global Compact, Ceres, Inc., The B Team, and Corporate Leaders Group Europe. Standout moments included hearing directly from NY Governor Kathy Hochul, meeting with VP Al Gore on Climate TRACEClimate TRACE, and dining at the James Beard Foundation. It was a powerful reminder of what happens when this community comes together.
