Mohannad Hazem Gomaa, FE, CSCP, PMP, CMAI posted thisAnother procurement engagement closed. Different platform, same pattern, and this time AI changed the economics of the work itself. Five operating companies, one PE-backed specialty construction roll-up. Outcome: $800K+ in confirmed annual run-rate EBITDA. At the multiples these platforms trade at, roughly $6-8M in enterprise value from procurement alone. Delivered solo, in weeks per category, on work that traditionally takes a team months. After 20+ years running these programs, here is what this one reinforced. 1. AI-augmented analytics found what no single company could see. I normalized thousands of invoice lines across all five entities and built a matched-SKU set: same product, same supplier, different operating company. AI accelerated the extraction, normalization, and fuzzy matching, then I built a live control tower dashboard so every finding traced to its source invoice. On one 25-SKU matched set, one OpCo paid 21-60% more than its sister for identical items. Not similar. Identical. The CEO and sponsor's reaction to seeing platform-wide pricing on one screen, evidence attached, told me analytics at this depth is still rare in the mid-market. 2. Price dispersion is a governance finding, not a buyer problem. Each company negotiated rationally within its own volume and history. Dispersion means no mechanism exists for the platform to buy as one. The fix is a standing structure, not a one-time renegotiation. 3. AI turned negotiation prep into a decisive edge. Across two spend categories and five national suppliers (a third, 50+ vendors, now scoped), I sat across from companies far larger than the platform. AI helped me build the negotiation packages: pressure-testing every ask against the invoice evidence, modeling supplier counter-scenarios before the meeting, and logging each supplier response so shifting explanations surfaced instantly. I walked in knowing my levers and their likely moves. Price was never the whole ask: I negotiated bid-length price protection, fee waivers, rebate transparency, and account structures that cut administrative friction. 4. "Confirmed" and "potential" never shared a slide. The platform CEO and CFO held me to one standard: every figure traceable to a named invoice or rate card, confirmed EBITDA never blended with conditional upside. AI speeds the analysis; the evidence discipline is human. Both matter. 5. Savings die without a governance reference that names owners. The final deliverable directed ownership across all five OpCos: spend management against new agreements, supplier performance, invoice audits against contracted rates, inventory accuracy. Negotiated rates are worthless if nobody checks the invoices. #Procurement #PrivateEquity #AI #Analytics #ValueCreation

Mohannad Hazem Gomaa, FE, CSCP, PMP, CMAI shared thisAnother SCOR-DS driven engagement that drove transformation journey for my client. Fortunate to work with an A class Fortune 500 Medtech client leadership team to deliver practical results 🙏Mohannad Hazem Gomaa, FE, CSCP, PMP, CMAI shared this"A roadmap is not a longer list. It is a shorter one." That line landed hardest in a recent engagement with a global medical device leader. Their newly consolidated Supply Chain Center of Excellence asked a fair question: we have talented people, serious systems investments, and no shortage of initiatives. Why does transformation still feel slow? Over five days on site, I took their COE leads through the SCOR Digital Standard (SCOR DS): mapping their end-to-end value chain in industry-standard language, working exercises built on their own process documentation rather than generic examples, and running an ASCM maturity assessment across 27 focus areas. Three findings shaped their transformation roadmap: 1. A common language changed the conversation. Once Orchestrate, Plan, Order, Source, Transform, Fulfill, and Return meant the same thing to everyone in the room, ownership debates got shorter and decisions got faster. 2. Ownership, not capability, predicted maturity. Sorting the results showed a clean split: areas with a named owner scored high, areas that belonged to everybody scored low. Same organization, same people. The only variable was accountability. 3. The assessment produced over 100 valid recommendations. The real roadmap work was narrowing to a handful of programs, naming owners, and committing only the first 90 days in detail. Everything after that gets earned with evidence at a quarterly re-score. They did not leave with another initiative list. They left with an agreed baseline, a shared standard for how they describe their supply chain, and a disciplined path from 27 focus areas to a few chartered programs. If your transformation feels like a growing to-do list, the answer is rarely more analysis. It is fewer commitments, clearly owned. #SupplyChain #SCOR #ASCM #Transformation #OperationalExcellence #CenterOfExcellence

Mohannad Hazem Gomaa, FE, CSCP, PMP, CMAI shared thisMy father, Dr. Hazem Gomaa, PhD, LLM passed away. And I need to take a moment to tell you who he was. He was a Professor of Public International Law, Dean of the Law School at Zagazig University, Head of the International Law Department, international arbitrator, Fulbright scholar, and General Counsel for Bapco. A man who sat in the room where decisions were made, and never once compromised his integrity to stay there. He held an LLM from Georgetown. When I told him I'd be lecturing there this past year, he smiled in a way I'll never forget. But the credentials are not the story. He enrolled me in a typewriting course one summer in high school, one hour English, one hour Arabic, because he saw ahead. He always saw ahead. He introduced me to his colleagues not as "my son" but with genuine pride. Like I was already someone. That does something to a child that lasts a lifetime. He supported every pivot I made, from law to engineering, from Egypt to the U.S. He was in the room when my son was born. He loved his friends the way most people only love family. He never traveled in jeans. He did not tolerate corruption or injustice, ever. The last time I showed him what AI could do, he immediately asked whether any organization existed to protect African nations from exploitation in oil & gas. When we found there wasn't one, we drafted a proposal together. That was him until the very end. I am who I am because of him. The full tribute is in my featured article. Please keep my father in your prayers. 🤍Tribute to My Father: Scholar, Arbitrator, Dean, and the Man Who Taught Me Everything That MattersTribute to My Father: Scholar, Arbitrator, Dean, and the Man Who Taught Me Everything That Matters

Mohannad Hazem Gomaa, FE, CSCP, PMP, CMAI shared thisYesterday, I attended the 2026 graduation at Georgetown University for the first time as an adjunct faculty member, and honestly, I’m still overwhelmed with joy, gratitude, and a deep sense of fulfillment. Seeing students that I taught walk across that stage hit differently. Their happiness, their words, and the pride in their families’ eyes brought me back to the moment when I once felt I was stepping into a completely new chapter in my own career and life. It reminded me how transformational education can truly be. What stood out most throughout the ceremony was the repeated emphasis on community, leadership, ethics, and belonging. The President’s remarks about Georgetown graduates becoming leaders across business, government, and society gave students a real sense of pride — not arrogance, but earned confidence. A reminder that they are now part of a lifelong network and institution that expects them to lead with purpose. I was also deeply moved by the speaker’s comments on AI ethics and governance. Regardless of technical background, tomorrow’s leaders will all carry responsibility for how AI shapes organizations, teams, decision-making, and society itself. That message could not be more relevant. Another moment that stayed with me was the President’s reflection on diversity — how different tones in music create harmony. In many ways, that captures what makes Georgetown special: people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives coming together to create something stronger collectively. Even though teaching is currently my “second career,” I truly cherish this role. I feel humbled and honored to contribute alongside incredibly accomplished faculty and professionals Linda Dunn, MBA Houston Mason James Jacobe Ronald Treusdell Bobby Goldwater Scott Rubin Gregory Hofe who bring real-world experience into the classroom to help students grow not only academically, but professionally and personally. There is something deeply meaningful about helping bridge practical experience with education and seeing students carry that knowledge into their own careers, companies, and leadership journeys. Congratulations to the Class of 2026. Your future is bright, and it was an honor being a small part of your journey. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside exceptional people, solving complex problems, navigating moments of significant changes, and turning ambitious ideas into outcomes that matter to our clients and their organisations. Some of those journeys were demanding, some deeply rewarding, and many taught me lessons I will carry forward. Looking back, what stands out most is the scale and ambition of what we were able to accomplish together - from iconic projects and large-scale transformations to innovative ideas that challenged the status quo and, in many cases, helped shape what came next. But beyond the projects and the milestones, it is the people and the relationships that I value most. I’m deeply grateful to the colleagues, clients, mentors, leaders, and friends who trusted me, challenged me, supported me, and shared this incredible journey with me. I leave this chapter with many great memories, lasting relationships, and a deep appreciation for everything we experienced and achieved together. Thank you, Accenture, for an extraordinary journey and my team for the amazing memories I will forever cherish. And thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey! The next chapter is already underway - I’ll share more soon...
