Mark Kvamme reposted thisMark Kvamme reposted thisA $5.6 million investment is helping expand an Ohio manufacturing platform built around acquiring and modernizing legacy industrial companies. The O.H.I.O. Fund-backed capital will support OCTAD Capital Partners as it adds OMNI Manufacturing Services, Inc in St. Marys and Die-Matic Corporation in Brooklyn Heights to a platform that already included six metal stamping companies, more than 400 employees and roughly $300 million in combined revenue. The strategy: acquire long-standing Ohio manufacturers, preserve their industrial base and invest in the systems, operations and growth needed for their next chapter. ✅ The full OTN story >> https://lnkd.in/gpkQuH68 OhioX | Ohio Tech Events

Mark Kvamme reposted thisMark Kvamme reposted thisCompany Milestone Announcement: We’ve closed our $15 million Seed Round to build the future of fire protection. This round led by The O.H.I.O. Fund, Khosla Ventures reinvesting, and continued support from Third Sphere and AirAngels, makes it one of the largest seed financings in Ohio’s history. This significant investment will help our team accelerate certification and compliance, scale US-based manufacturing, expand our installation network, and grow the Cleveland based engineering team as our team moves closer to industry validated commercial deployment. Thank you to TechCrunch, Cleveland Business Journal, and International Fire and Safety Journal (IFSJ) for covering this milestone and helping share the story of this company milestone and where Sonic Fire Tech is headed next. Mark Kvamme reposted thisMark Kvamme reposted thisCan sound help stop a fire? That’s the question Sonic Fire Tech is answering with a fundamentally different approach to fire protection. Founded on NASA-inspired research and built in Cleveland, the company is developing infrasound technology designed to help suppress fires without relying on water or chemicals, which destroy homes and property. The company’s technology is being developed in two primary applications: a built-in Home Defense System that automatically detects fire threats and deploys infrasound to help prevent small fires from spreading, and a portable Sonic Backpack designed to give firefighters a lightweight suppression tool that can operate for hours without water refills. We’re excited that funds advised by The O.H.I.O. Fund led Sonic Fire Tech’s latest financing round, with continued participation from Khosla Ventures,Third Sphere, and AirAngels. Together, the round brings the company’s seed financing to $15 million, one of the largest seed financings in Ohio’s history. Congratulations to co-founders Geoff Bruder and Michael Thomas, and the entire Sonic Fire Tech team, on this important milestone. We’re excited to support the company’s next chapter as it continues advancing this technology from Ohio. Mark Kvamme liked thisMark Kvamme liked thisAt this time last year I was scrambling to understand the company-formation process as Mark Kvamme, Mike Venerable and I worked to launch 1872. I'll be honest, I was staring into the abyss, knowing that I needed to quickly find amazing technical and operations leadership to help build the company. It was an incredibly stressful yet exhilarating few weeks last autumn. Here's a quick recap on the timeline: - 9/16/2025 - Met Mike Venerable, Mark Kvamme, and Ray Leach from The O.H.I.O. Fund - 9/26/2025 - Decided to go all-in on founding 1872 - 10/3/2025 - 1872 is officially incorporated! - 10/7/2025 - Michael Grant leans in as CTO after meeting Andrew Lonsberry at Path Robotics - 10/9/2025 - Toured what would become 1872 Factory 1 for the first time - 10/23/2025 - Brian Mongilio leans in as Head of Operations after jamming with Mike Grant on their shared vision for the company - 10/31/2025 - First tranche of funding hits the bank account Nearly a year later we have: - A working factory with robots welding steel - Our own internally developed factory software powering everything from the front office to the shop floor - An incredible core team of 15 people across fabrication, ops and engineering - A growing portfolio of paying customers - And on September 15th, less than 6 months after moving into the factory, we shipped our first revenue-generating production part What a first year. Most deals don't fail at the table. They fail in the data room. If you're running M&A due diligence or a fundraising round, the platform at https://vdr.ai was built specifically for the pressure those processes create. Investors and acquirers move fast. They request hundreds of documents. They need instant access, version control, and a clear audit trail showing who viewed what and when. A generic file-sharing tool doesn't cut it when the stakes are this high. VDR.ai uses AI to organize and index documents automatically, so your team spends less time filing and more time closing. Deals that used to take weeks of back-and-forth can move in days. Security is where most platforms cut corners. The https://lnkd.in/gcVYs6ne page lays out exactly how VDR.ai protects sensitive documents, covering enterprise-grade encryption, granular access controls, and permission settings that let you decide precisely who sees what and for how long. That level of transparency matters when you're sharing cap tables, financial models, or IP documentation with outside parties. Some context on why this is worth paying attention to: global M&A volume exceeded $3 trillion in 2023, and the majority of those deals involved a virtual data room at some stage. The quality of that room shapes how buyers perceive your organization. A disorganized data room signals a disorganized business. If you've been through a deal process recently, what was the biggest friction point in managing documents and access for your counterparty? #MergersAndAcquisitions #DueDiligence #VirtualDataRoom #DealManagement #DocumentSecurity #MAtech

Based on our bill of materials analysis, we estimate that NTAP has the highest memory/storage exposure (nearly 40% of product COGS, but less than 1/4 of total COGS) in our IT hardware coverage which, if unmitigated by price increases or other supply chain actions, could lead to an ~5 point drag on product gross margins if NAND & DRAM pricing increased by 60% (see Theme #6 for more details on our gross margin analysis). Despite the company's sizable exposure to memory/storage, we estimate that NTAP will see the least impact to its overall gross margins because of its (1) structurally higher product gross margins from storage (v. lower margin categories like servers and PCs); and its (2) high margin services portfolio, which accounts for approximately half of its overall revenue at highly accretive margins (82% in F2025).

The Google and NextEra partnership makes perfect sense. For years, the model has been: 1. Find a site. 2. Ask the utility for power. 3. Wait for them to deliver or build it. 4. Complain when they're late and over budget. That model is broken. Utilities can't keep up. (and it's not their fault... "keeping up" with demand is an impossible task in this case). This partnership flips the script. Google isn't asking for power. They're bringing their own. They're partnering with the largest renewable energy developer in the country to co-develop entire campuses. Land. Power generation. Interconnection. All bundled together. This is vertical integration. It's Google taking control of their own destiny. And it solves the biggest problem in the industry right now: ...Who pays for the infrastructure? NextEra's CEO said it himself: hyperscalers need to "bring and pay for their own power generation." That's exactly what this deal does. It's faster. It's more certain. And it doesn't stick ratepayers with the bill. This isn't just another PPA. This is the new model for the future of data center development. My question is... Will this just be a behind the meter design? Or will they connect their power generation to the grid? Comment below!

George Rockett, you are a soul brother of mine. George Rockett Peter Gross, PE Dean Nelson Christian Belady Joseph Kava Alex Veytsel Twenty five years pricing contracts on the buyer side has left me professionally suspicious of everyone. Twenty five years of men in good suits quoting uptime figures that would embarrass a weather forecaster. My default setting: show me the receipts. George has receipts · George invented the filing cabinet. What everyone who arrived after 2015 missed: there was no industry. Just engineers in windowless buildings, each convinced he was the only person alive who cared about chilled water. Their own mothers thought they worked in IT. George found them. One at a time. Not to sell them anything ⋯ out of pure curiosity, which is the one thing you cannot fake for thirty years. He never sold data center space. He built the community that came to fill it. ↝ Publishing by 1998. Vocabulary, then rooms, then arguments. Events by 2002, and that was the unlock. Not another ballroom with cold chicken and a lanyard that strangles you by hour three ⟶ a room where the engineer, the utility guy, the developer, the CFO and the investor finally had to look each other in the face. He saw two decades early that the walls were the problem. Some leaders choose distance. Michael Jackson mystical, floating behind glass. George went the other way. Present. Accessible. Human. The Taylor Swift model: everyone believes they are his close personal friend, and the maddening part is they are all correct. ◆ Do not mistake the warmth for softness. Not just the most thoughtful person in this industry. The hardest thinking person in it. Power, silicon, capital, policy, land, water, snarled like fishing line at the bottom of a boat, and George sits with it until it comes apart into something usable. Somebody had to argue this sector into consequence. George was holding the loom. Then the thing almost nobody bothers with. Training the next generation. Ethics and stewardship in the same syllabus as cooling design. He refused to let this become a business that only knows how to count. Then 2023. The exact age a reasonable man takes the board seat and works on his short game. He started over instead. Yotta. And this week Bowmark took a majority of InfraXmedia, the house he built, now carrying DCD, Yotta, Data Center Nation, SDxCentral. Magazine nobody asked for to a platform private equity paid up for. Not luck. Twenty eight years of compounding. I have been wrong about timing my whole career and right about most everything else. So take this as a professional assessment: George is not evolving. He is unlocking new characters. https://lnkd.in/edMDz8pf

This WSJ story on Recursive Intelligence is another signal that we’ll keep seeing “new chip startup remakes the industry” narratives as AI demand explodes. Makora (fka Mako) is playing a different game: we do not need to wait 5 to 7 years for a new silicon cycle to make AI more efficient, because most companies will never train frontier models but they will drown in inference costs. Unlocking efficiency on the GPUs already deployed makes AI cheaper now and turns on use cases that were uneconomical at today’s prices. https://lnkd.in/defHEtM6
