Mason Melnick shared thisWinning teams need great teams behind them. The Denver Broncos’ finance organization supports a multi-billion-dollar business spanning five entities—with an accounts payable team of one. Proud that Ramp helps give their finance and back-office teams more time to focus on the work that moves the organization forward. Even prouder to support the people behind the team—and help tell their story. Every sports partnership looks different, but our mission remains the same: helping teams save their two most valuable resources—time and money. That’s why today’s announcement is such an exciting step forward for Mustang Partners. The launch of our new B2B initiative, along with new strategic partnerships with NOCAP Sports and Ramp , represents another layer of momentum around what we’re building at SMU. These relationships help us create more opportunities for our partners to connect with one another, engage with our student-athletes and coaches in meaningful ways, and be part of the incredible energy surrounding SMU Athletics. There’s something special happening here. Mason Melnick liked thisMason Melnick liked thisPretty cool moment at Ramp's #OnRamp conference in San Francisco today. Our CFO, William Petrie, sat down with Kenneth I. Chenault, who spent 17 years as CEO of American Express and led the company through some incredibly difficult periods, including 9/11 and the financial crisis. A few things stuck with me: On trust: You’re always making deposits or withdrawals. Trust takes years to build and moments to lose. On leadership: If you want to lead, you have to be willing to serve. Make difficult decisions with decisiveness and compassion, and keep the long term company in mind. On AI: This is a transformational moment. Companies can’t afford to stand still. The opportunity is to use AI to amplify your people and drive real growth. Then three time Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White shared a very different story with a surprisingly similar message. Before the 2018 Olympics, he attempted a trick that was beyond him at the time, crashed badly, and suffered some serious injuries. He came back, faced the same trick again, stuck it -- and went on to win Olympic gold. Two very different careers. Same underlying lesson: The moments that test you are often the ones that define you. Trust when things get difficult. Be decisive when the stakes are high. And keep moving toward the things that scare you. Pretty awesome Thursday morning. #Ramp #Finance #Automation

Your AEs are sitting around waiting for SDR meetings while their pipeline coverage drops < 2x. And you're wondering why forecasts keep missing. The linear SDR-to-AE model assumes clean handoffs and qualified pipeline flowing upward on schedule. But markets are tighter now. Budgets are frozen. Decision cycles are longer. You CANNOT afford to depend on a single pipeline source. Parallel prospecting should be, with few exceptions, not even up for debate right now. Here are some standards to set in stone: 1. SDRs focus on top-of-funnel volume. Book meetings. Qualify interest. Create awareness in accounts that aren't actively buying yet. 2. AEs prospect their own territory. Hunt for warm referrals. Expansion opportunities. Build relationships with execs. Go after high-value targets that require account context and business acumen. 3. Execs (yes, you) support in relationship-building Board members, founders, C-suite: everyone participating in opening doors and accelerating deals. Don’t get me wrong - this is NOT about SDRs failing. It's about current market conditions requiring more pipeline from more sources. Some of the best sales teams I know moved away from mass outreach this year and leaned into their network. Asked for referrals. Re-engaged relationships from 2-3 years ago. Fewer touches but higher quality deals. Better logos. Larger ACV. PS - Few teams I know use Vieu to uncover who in the company network (investors, advisors, customers, execs etc.) is connected to target buyers and can make intros. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/g9GB2J8u That's AE-level prospecting. That requires business relationships and strategic thinking that SDRs typically don't have access to yet. The pushback usually sounds like: "But that's what we pay SDRs for. AEs should be closing, not prospecting!" lol ok. How's your pipeline coverage looking right now? If your AEs only work SDR-sourced pipeline, they're dependent on a single source. The implementation is straightforward: - Adjust quota expectations. If AEs spend 20-30% of their time prospecting, quota reflects that or territory size decreases. - Comp structure rewards it. Higher commission rates on self-sourced deals. SPIFFs for expansion within existing accounts. - Track pipeline composition. What percentage is SDR-sourced vs. AE-sourced? If it's 90/10, your AEs aren't really prospecting. - Get the right tech: Vieu for scaling network-led intros, Clay for market signals etc. This doesn't eliminate SDR teams, but it does admittedly change how they work with AEs. In a good way, IMO. Less handoff friction. More collaboration on account strategy. SDRs opening doors, AEs building relationships. Your top performers already do this. They're not waiting around for their next SDR meeting. They're working referrals, reaching out to warm contacts, expanding existing accounts. Make it systematic across the whole team.

Everyone’s obsessed with the perfect sales stack. Better tools. Tighter process. Cleaner sequences. It helps, but it’s not what actually wins deals. Two reps can run the exact same play and get completely different outcomes. The difference isn’t the system. It’s the person. The best salespeople aren’t just executing steps. They’re reading people. Adjusting in real time. Picking up on what’s not being said. It’s closer to poker than process. Amateurs play the hand. Professionals play the person. Energy, presence, timing. None of that lives in your CRM. But that’s where trust is built.

SDRs don’t need more motivation! They need better systems. The teams winning in 2025 all have the same setup: 1️⃣ Clear ICP + messaging Reps aren’t guessing who to target or what to say. 2️⃣ Zero manual busywork No more hunting for contacts, verifying emails, fixing deliverability, or juggling 10 inboxes. 3️⃣ Automate everything except the human part Pattern-recognition, personalization, and conversations → that’s where reps shine. This is exactly where Instantly.ai fits: ✔️ Clean sending infrastructure ✔️ Verified emails ✔️ Multi-inbox sending ✔️ Auto-warmup ✔️ Reply management ✔️ CRM sync When SDRs don’t fight the workflow, they actually book meetings. Better systems = better results. Always.

Let’s not overcomplicate outbound. Step 1. Find your ideal customer Step 2. Do some research Step 3. Call them w/ a POV, email or LI them with the same POV Step 4. Book the meeting or update CRM with notes Step 5. Learn from your mistakes Now do that over and over again and you will book some meetings.

People think SDRs just “need better messaging.” Here’s what actually breaks reps long before quota does. You start the day confident. Coffee in hand. Pipeline open. Then reality kicks in. • Spend 20 minutes researching an account that will never reply • Personalise an opener that gets skimmed (at best) • Debate whether the follow-up is “too soon” or “too late” • Re-read the same sentence 6 times before hitting send • Check replies - nothing • Refresh inbox - still nothing • Jump on calls anyway because numbers don’t care how you feel • Get told “bad timing” by someone who was never going to buy • Second-guess your tone, your timing, your targeting • Watch a Slack message say “any updates?” • Convince yourself tomorrow will be different • Log activity. Close tabs. Do it again. No one talks about this part. The mental negotiation you do with yourself all day: “Should I push?” “Should I wait?” “Is this me… or the market?” Being an SDR isn’t just outreach. It’s decision-making under uncertainty, over and over again. That’s the real skill you’re building, even when it doesn’t feel like it. If you’re still showing up, still thinking, still refining, you’re learning faster than you realise. What’s the part of the SDR role that surprised you the most once you were in it? #SDR #SALES

Which metrics should you look at to define the success of failure of your SDR function? Talk time? Nope. Meetings? Nope. Pipeline? Nope. Revenue? Nope. None of these metrics mean anything that can be used to improve or assess the true value of the function. There are ONLY 3 metrics that actually matter for measuring your pipeline generation function: 1. Meeting to Pipeline Conversion: The percentage of held meetings that convert into forecastable sales opportunities. 2. Pipeline to Revenue Conversion: Measure both the volume AND value of won SDR-generated opportunities. 3. SDR Margin: The total value of all closed/won SDR-generated opportunities minus the cost of the SDR program divided by the total value. Focus on these three metrics to guide your SDR decision making.

September is here. That means last month of Q3 for BDRs/SDRs. If you’re a BDR sitting at 40%, 50%, even 60% of quota right now… The quarter is NOT over. But the time for “I’ll make it up later” is. September is where you need to lock in. → Stop calling random accounts just to hit activity numbers. → Stop spending 30 minutes researching one company. → Stop letting your best accounts sit untouched for a week. → Stop confusing being busy with actually creating pipeline. Your job this month is simple: Find the right accounts. Find the reason to call NOW. Find the right person. Pick up the phone. That’s a big reason I started building Syntri AI in the first place. As an ex rep, one of the hardest parts wasn’t making the call. It was opening the laptop every morning and figuring out: Who should I call today? Why should I call them? What do I actually say? Syntri is being built around solving that problem- turning real account signals into a prioritized plan of attack for BDRs. Q3 has 28 days left. Make September count chud. (Send me a DM if you want to mog september 🫡 )

More SaaS companies should have a President's Club for SDRs Not just AEs. Not just closers. SDRs too. Think about it. The SDR is the first voice , first email & first reason a deal even starts That deserves more than a pat on the back. President's Club tells an SDR - "We see you , What you do matters , You belong at this table." That feeling? It changes how someone shows up to work. Recognition builds #culture. Culture builds #pipeline. Pipeline builds #companies. It all starts with making your SDRs feel like they're playing for something 🙌 Does your company include #SDRs in the President's Club? #saassales #saas #sales

Every SDR leader knows the pain. You finally get your top performer humming, and next quarter you’re backfilling them with someone brand new. That new SDR is learning everything: product, personas, competitors, tools. All before they even get to the hard part…figuring out what to say. Smart leaders bake this ramp into their pipeline models. Some even add “phantom” headcount to cover the gap between fully-ramped reps and the reality that 30% of the team is still learning the basics. The new SDRs heads are spinning as they bounce between six different systems of truth. So it’s no wonder new reps move at a glacial pace. That’s where Roomie AI Spark changes everything. Common Room already brings all your GTM signals into one place. Spark takes it further by turning those signals into natural-language insights that tell reps exactly what’s been happening at an account. Picture this: A champion joins a target account. In the old world, your SDR digs through Salesforce, hunting for context from their last company and stitching together context about the target account. Then they try to Hemingway it into a relevant messsage. It takes 20-30 min per message. In the new world, they hover over the contact in Common Room and Spark instantly surfaces everything — who they are, what’s happened, even Gong call insights from their previous employer. If I’d had this when I led SDR teams, I wouldn’t have needed to model ramp time because ramp time would be cut in half.
