Matt Joyce reposted thisMatt Joyce reposted thisWe brush our teeth every day—our implants deserve scrubbing too. After hearing Dr. Parvizi speak at grand rounds, I found myself looking differently at metal implants in the setting of infection. A simple question stuck in my mind: why aren’t we more deliberately addressing biofilm on the implant surface? I reached out to Dr. George O’Toole, and in our first discussion he pulled out a few dimes to run a pilot study. We applied a mechanical sonic approach and saw early signal in the crystal violet staining—an initial “this could work” moment. That small idea grew into a broader investigation across more than 540 medical-grade metal samples—exploring how mechanical strategies compare with irrigation alone. Research, like medicine, is a team effort, and thanks to our team, that work has now been published in Acta Orthopaedica. We’re certainly not alone in exploring this space, but it’s been exciting to be part of a growing effort to re-examine how we approach debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR). Matt Joyce shared thisThank you Ray Latif for telling our Toom Garlic Dips story for the first time after 14 years! 🧄 I had a blast and hope you all listen to it 🎙️Matt Joyce shared thisAfter years of setbacks and stealthy growth, Toom Garlic Dips is emerging as one of CPG’s fastest-rising condiment brands 🧄📈 In a new Taste Radio episode, founder and CEO Matt Joyce shares how he spent more than a decade refining a Lebanese garlic dip into a mainstream product with broad consumer appeal. The conversation digs into Toom’s years of failed commercialization attempts, the brand’s eventual breakthrough with Whole Foods, and how persistence, family support, and a focus on flavor and branding helped open doors at Wegmans, Publix, and Costco. It’s a closer look at how an under-the-radar brand built momentum before the wider industry took notice 🛒🎙️ Link to the full story in the first comment below 👇 #CPG #Condiments #TasteRadio #FoodAndBeverage #Retail #BrandBuilding #ExpoWest #EmergingBrands

Matt Joyce liked thisMatt Joyce liked thisBEZI Dippers are now in Whole Foods Market!! Joining our 2 existing 7 oz tubs that we’ve been proudly selling for the last year. As a 2-year-old brand, having 4 (and counting soon) SKUs on the shelves of Whole Foods is something we’re incredibly proud of. Dippers are our best idea that fills a very specific user-need gap we discovered and heard during our demos in Whole Foods, and we could not be more proud to come back to the shelves with our actual solution. John Lawson — thank you for believing in us and giving BEZI a place at Whole Foods. This has been a dream of ours since the very beginning, and it’s an opportunity we don’t take lightly. And of course Kyron and Hudson Harvest team — thank you for working with us and helping us make this happen. We’ve been talking about Dippers here for a long time. The perfect snack for kids, the perfect snack on the go, and what we think is the hack to bringing labneh into a lot more people’s everyday routines. All in a snack pack, for $3.99. You’ll be seeing me and my wonderful team on the ground very soon — come say hi and try the newest Dippers! As always, Tribeca was first to carry last week, with more stores coming very soon across the Northeast! A very special day for BEZI ❤️

Matt Joyce liked thisMatt Joyce liked thisNine years ago, I started The Halal Shack with a simple belief: food can bring people and cultures together. Thank you to our teams doing the work every day, the partners who have trusted us, and the guests who keep coming back. I’ve had the privilege of leading this company, but I haven’t built it alone. Today we announced our partnership with Tamarix Equity Partners. They bring more experience and resources to that mission, alongside people who believe in it. I’m continuing to lead the business, and our priority is the locations, teams, and partners already counting on us. Growth should make us a better partner, not just a bigger company. To our current partners: tell me directly where we can do better or what you’d like to build together. To those we haven’t worked with yet: bring us your dining challenges. We want to be an extension of your management team, not just another logo on the wall. And if you care about great food, hospitality, and making things better: we’re hiring. Thank you for all the congratulations. I’ll happily accept a good challenge, too. What’s one thing you wish a dining partner would help you solve?

Matt Joyce liked thisMatt Joyce liked this“Do you guys fight?” We get that question a lot. Andrew Healy and I have been best friends since college. We've run Bizzy together since 2013. People assume two co-founders that close, for that long, are one bad quarter from a blowup. We're not. Part of why it works: we stayed out of each other's lane. I run the business side. Strategy, marketing, everything outside the plant. Andrew runs Operations. He's also our Chief Brewing Officer, the one who actually knows what's in every bottle that goes out. So the answer's no. We don’t fight.

Most CPG founders think late supplier deliveries are a logistics problem. In reality, the issue usually starts much earlier. In my experience working with CPG brands, supplier reliability usually comes down to 3 structural decisions. → Stage Fit Many founders default to the biggest supplier they can find. I’ve seen early-stage brands wait weeks for responses from large suppliers while smaller partners respond within hours. But early-stage brands often perform better with partners who are built for companies at their size. Those suppliers are more invested, more responsive, and more motivated to grow alongside you. Scale partnerships can come later. → Communication Rhythm Supply chains change constantly, which is why strong operators stay in regular contact with their suppliers. - Bi-weekly conversations. - Ongoing updates. - Reconfirming timelines. That rhythm keeps both sides aligned before small changes become larger disruptions. → Partner Reliability One of the most underrated advantages in supply chains is simply working with partners who do what they say they will do. Finding those partners requires diligence early, such as referrals, track record, and reputation in the industry. Because once an ingredient supplier is embedded into your product specifications, switching becomes very complex. When these three elements are in place: Supplier relationships become far more predictable. And predictability is one of the most powerful advantages a growing CPG brand can build. When you think about your current suppliers, which of these three factors has had the biggest impact on your ability to scale?

I asked ChatGPT for a dinner-party wine under $50. The search results: Foillard. Lapierre. A Corpinnat sparkler. A dry Vouvray. Genuinely good picks. Two things jumped out, and they determine whether your winery ever shows up in an answer like that. First, how the machine reasoned. Every suggestion was about the occasion and the person: a host gift that doesn't obligate anyone, something generous rather than impressive, a bottle that keeps for New Year's. Not one word about tannin or extraction. It approached the question like a thoughtful gift-giver, because it was answering one. Second, every producer it named has a deep third-party reputation. Reviewed by critics. Carried by known importers. All over the sites the machine trusts. Not one small, direct-to-consumer winery leaning on its own website made the list. That's not luck. An AI builds its recommendation from what it can read and corroborate, and it corroborates you against independent sources, not your own marketing. If your winery lives only on your website, however lovely, you weren't rejected. You were invisible. Wine Business ran my full breakdown today, including how a smaller winery gets into that answer. February beer data just dropped and it tells an interesting story. Dollar sales are up 1.6% year-to-date, but volume is basically flat. What’s working? Imports. Super-premium domestic. Hard cider. Non-alcoholic beer. What’s struggling? A lot of craft and domestic premium. The takeaway isn’t that people stopped drinking beer. It’s that consumers got selective. The brands winning right now have three things: • Velocity • A clear point of view • Absolute clarity on who they’re for If you’re trying to be everything to everyone… the shelf is going to humble you. Truthfully, Sam #beverageindustry #beerbusiness #cpg #drinkup #brandstrategy

This is a fascinating moment for the #mood category. Two things really stood out to me: 1. Flavor remains one of the biggest drivers of beverage purchase, a reminder that functional products still need to be genuinely enjoyable. 2. As the regulatory landscape around functional ingredients continues to evolve, ingredients like Kanna are moving closer to the mainstream conversation. That intersection is where I believe things get really interesting. Consumers are increasingly looking for products that make them feel good and taste good. Not one or the other. That’s exactly the opportunity we see with Myce, bringing #Kanna into a format that feels approachable, flavorful and relevant to the way people want to enjoy beverages today. The mood category is still young. But it’s moving fast. And we’re excited to be building in it. 🌸

Searching for growth? General Mills has announced plans to boldly go after the over 55s in their quest to increase volumes. While much of CPG chases 18-45s or the latest wellness fad, General Mills is placing its bets on three under-the-radar, high-leverage consumer groups: - Adults aged 55 +, who account for nearly half of U.S. households and have enormous spending power. - Consumers using GLP-1 medications (up to 12%+ of U.S. adults), who’re eating less but seeking more protein, more functional nutrients, smaller portions. - Hispanic shoppers, where General Mills plans to ramp up innovation and engagement by ~40% in FY26. This move takes product renovation in new directions - redesigning products and formats to match how people now live, eat and feel. They’re innovating for smaller households (smaller pack sizes), higher-protein need states, functional nutrition and not just indulgence. And this isn’t an isolated move. It’s part of a broader CPG reboot as the absence of growth looms.
