With over 15 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, circular economy, CSR, and social impact, I help companies at any stage of their impact journey to develop and execute strategies that create value, increase stakeholder engagement, and drive positive change. As the Founder of The CSO Shop, a fractional sustainability and social impact consulting and advising company, I work with clients across industries and geographies to identify opportunities, establish and exceed goals, measure progress, and communicate impact.

I am also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, where I teach Circular Economy for Sustainability Professionals, a course that explores the principles, practices, and benefits of circularity in business and society. I am passionate about educating and inspiring the next generation of sustainability leaders and changemakers. My mission is to leverage my expertise to make a positive difference in the world.

I am a sustainability leader that brings 20 years of start-up, non-profit, research, and public sector experience to environmental policy and resource management, food and agriculture, and climate and health issues.

I'm currently leading the state of California's efforts to accelerate sustainable pest management in the Department of Pesticide Regulation in the California Environmental Protection Agency. I previously held roles in the University of California, including serving as the Managing Director for the Center for Climate, Health and Equity and in the Office of the President, where my portfolio included ESG reporting, supporting sustainable foodservice, and developing policies around sustainable procurement, waste reduction, water conservation, and integrated pest management. I have also worked on environmental policy and Farm-to-Institution for multiple organizations, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to Health Care Without Harm, and have taught courses on global environmental politics for graduate and undergraduate students.

I hold a PhD in Geography from UC Berkeley, where I was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University, and a BA in Environmental Studies and International Studies from the University of Chicago, where I was a Udall Scholar. I am the author of India’s Organic Farming Revolution: What it Means for Our Global Food System and editor of Institutions as Conscious Food Consumers: Leveraging Purchasing Power to Drive Systems Change. I am also proud to have served on and advised many Boards and organizations, including Coastal Quest, Pesticide Action Network, My Green Lab, Women’s Environmental Network, Real Food Challenge, Oakland Food Policy Council, Plant Based Foods Association, and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Originally from New Jersey, I now live in Oakland, California with my husband and three children. In my spare time, I enjoy raising chickens, gardening, identifying wildflowers and birds, hiking the high Sierra, and playing music with my kids.
