Michael Derby shared thisI’m very excited to announce positive results from our company’s recently completed Phase 2 study of the investigational drug, PAX-101, in Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is an early but important milestone for PaxMedica, a company we founded, and towards which our extended team has been working tirelessly over the past two years. Michael Derby liked thisMichael Derby liked thisBehind the Scenes of our Global Webinar 🎬 What a journey it has been. Our team spent months preparing and coordinating across time zones, running late-night rehearsals, and working together toward one shared goal of bringing the global EB community together for this 2-hour webinar. We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Johann Bauer and Dr. Amy Paller, two internationally recognized EB experts, for sharing their invaluable clinical experience and perspectives; and to our senior consultant, Dr. Yiumo Michael Chan, for sharing insights shaped by decades of research in EB Simplex; and, of course, our amazing President, Dr. Chen-En Tsai, for hosting. A huge thank you also goes to our amazing production team, who worked with us well past midnight local time to make sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. This webinar simply would not have been possible without their professionalism and dedication. Most importantly, we were deeply encouraged by the enthusiasm of EB patients, families, clinicians, researchers, advocates, and industry colleagues from around the world who joined us. A special shout-out to debra of America and DEBRA Australia for helping share the webinar with the EB community. For our team, AC-203 represents years of work toward a potential treatment option for people living with EB Simplex, a condition for which there is currently no approved disease-specific therapy. There is still work ahead, and the data will ultimately speak for itself. But after such a long journey, we believe we are finally nearing the light at the end of the tunnel. AC-203 Phase 2/3 topline results are coming in Q4 2026. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with us. 🧡

The latest episode of the Kinara podcast is now live! I sat down with Steven Basta, CEO of Phathom Pharmaceuticals, for a candid conversation on building a focused biopharma company, making disciplined strategic bets, and what it takes to bring genuinely differentiated therapies to patients. Steve brings a clear, operator’s perspective on leadership in biotech. We also get into the realities of launching in today’s environment, aligning science with commercialization, and avoiding the noise that pulls teams away from what actually matters. Watch the trailer below and find the link to the full episode!

Three sectors haven't needed a Q2 update. Specialty pharma, medtech, and CDMO are running on the same thesis since March, and it's still accelerating. Specialty pharma remains the most consequential story in pharma. GLP-1 alone spans 120-plus assets across 60-plus companies, with an active M&A pipeline pulling acquirers further upstream and direct-to-consumer models accelerating the split between specialty and commodity pharmacy. Medtech has the best investor sentiment in three years. Global VC activity is at a three-year high, large strategics are re-engaging after a divestiture cycle, and the IPO window reopened with Medline's $6.26 billion listing, the largest healthcare IPO of 2025. CDMO demand keeps climbing on the same two drivers: GLP-1 manufacturing capacity expansion and a growing AI-native biotech pipeline that needs outsourced complex biologics and oral drug delivery capability. None of that shows up as pressure to build faster. It shows up as pressure to have the right leadership in place before the window narrows. Pre-IPO CFOs with public markets experience are the scarcest hire on the list. Specialty pharmacy C-suites built for GLP-1 and PBM disruption, and CDMO business development and operations leaders who can scale manufacturing capacity, round out where the demand is concentrated. While services works through a correction, these three sectors are still in growth mode. The leadership gap is the constraint, not the capital.
