Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted thisPeople started by asking AI questions. Now they're delegating tasks, building solutions, and automating work that runs in the background. We see those patterns in trillions of productivity signals across Microsoft Copilot. Office set the shape of productivity for the PC era. Copilot is doing that for the AI era, expanding both what people can do and who gets to do it. Today we’re introducing the new Copilot, an evolution of the Copilot app that connects the tools people rely on with the next generation of capabilities they’ll need to build, customize, and scale AI across work. Copilot has three new capabilities: Office in Copilot brings the full value of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint right where the conversation’s happening. Code in Copilot empowers every knowledge worker to turn ideas into solutions using natural language. And the new Autopilots tab in Copilot where you can create a personal autopilot that is persistent and proactive. Learn more: https://msft.it/6044a956o

Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted thisI could not be more excited about our Copilot announcement today and the next wave of innovation we will bring to our customers. https://lnkd.in/exq6UPDq Copilot was built to enable AI in the flow of human ambition. It has evolved from a chat assistant to the singular place to get uninterrupted work done. With Home, the convergence of Chat and Cowork, you can interact conversationally and create artifacts collaboratively. Code allows you to build AI solutions that help overcome obstacles to improve how you work. Autopilot acts autonomously to execute ongoing tasks, manage projects, and handle follow-up. We are also announcing Office in Copilot: Word, Excel and PowerPoint are now built into the experience. This all happens within the Copilot canvas, but the true differentiation and power of Copilot is derived from the Intelligence + Trust platforms upon which it sits. Microsoft IQ is the open, heterogeneous, model-diverse, intelligence platform that enables individual and organizational IQ to compound from within, protecting your IP so your unique value does not leak to improve models. Work IQ pulls from an individual’s gated M365 environment, and today we are announcing that Copilot can now access data from across your organization by connecting to Fabric IQ and Dynamics 365. A trust platform requires Observability, management, governance, and security of every agent and agentic process running across your technology stack to ensure you are seeing value and ROI. FinOps is critical here, and we are introducing new capabilities in Agent 365 and Copilot to manage model choice and cost for both user subscription licenses (USL) and usage-based billing (UBB), depending on the modality being used within Copilot. Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted this📢 Microsoft Announcement: New FinOps for AI capabilities ✨ Control spend, measure value and optimize for impact. Microsoft just announced new capabilities across Copilot, Agent 365 and Insights to help organizations do all three. Here's what's new 👇 📊 Expanded cost management: Cost management in Agent 365 now covers Code and Copilot Managed Runtime alongside Copilot Cowork and Work IQ APIs, with Copilot Studio agents coming in October. The goal is one central home for usage-based AI workloads. 🎛️ Manage model choice: Tailor model family access for different groups based on their needs and objectives, so the right models reach the right people and scenarios. This also shapes which models Auto can pick in Cowork. Rolling out for Cowork first, with more workloads to follow. 📈 Measure the value of Cowork: Connect credit consumption to value generated. Available in both cost management in Agent 365 and the consumption dashboard in Insights. See which scenarios deliver the most value and decide where to sustain, expand or optimize. 👤 Cowork end-user spend management: See your credit usage, remaining credits and history right inside Copilot, with notifications as you get close to your limit. 🔌 Programmatic manage policies: Manage spending policies at scale with Microsoft Graph API, inside your own BI and FinOps tools. 🔀 Redirect credit requests to existing approval flows: Route credit requests from end users to custom URLs, so they run through the approval and automation flows your organization already has. 🔗 Read the blog to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJgZxy26 👉 Join the community: https://lnkd.in/gUwD3fA4 #Microsoft #FinOpsforAI #Copilot #Agent365

Michael Mento reposted thisWe’ve learned a lot since we first introduced Copilot, especially as people started asking AI to do more than answer questions. People want to hand off more work to Copilot and turn an idea into an automation or app. That’s shaped what we’re building. Autopilot and Managed Apps in Code and Cowork have been two of my favorite pieces to use internally over the last couple of months. You can give Autopilot a role and a goal and it keeps working across days or weeks. My Autopilot’s name is Apollo. :) And when you want to build something yourself, Managed Apps let you take an app you’ve built with Copilot and share it with others in your organization. I’m looking forward to seeing what people do with the new Copilot. More here: https://aka.ms/AA13g7uqMichael Mento reposted thisWe’re building Copilot as a new OS for work that spans every model, every form factor, and every task. Today, we’re announcing our biggest update to Copilot to date, bringing four things together: • Autopilot: proactive and long-running agent built for the enterprise • Code: build apps with Copilot, hosted inside your company’s tenant • Home: Chat + Cowork together • Office: now fully embedded in Copilot (and Copilot embedded in Office, of course!) Plus, you can invoke Copilot in Teams, and we’re introducing Today, a proactive experience that surfaces the most important information from across M365 without needing to ask for it. The way we work is changing and so are our workflows. This update brings AI into that flow, from answering a question, to building an app, to getting work done on your behalf. Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted thisLast month I wrote about how AI is changing the way we build software, and how we need to change the way our teams work along with it. I really enjoyed the conversation that followed and hearing what others are seeing in their own teams. We’re living through that transformation at Microsoft right now. It’s changing how we structure teams, how decisions get made, and how leaders stay close to the work. And as AI gives us more capacity, we’re putting that back into building better, higher-quality products. There’s still a lot we’re learning as we go. I recently talked with Steve Rosenbush at The Wall Street Journal about what we’re changing inside Microsoft and what we’ve learned so far. Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted this🚀 Microsoft Copilot Cost Management updates If you're introducing Copilot Cowork in your company, managing Copilot Credits and spending policies across your organization, September brings a wave of updates designed to make governance smarter, reporting richer, and cost controls more flexible. Here's what's changing 👇 🚨 What's new: 🔄 Auto-apply new services to spending policies New UBB Copilot services and agents will now automatically inherit your existing spending policy coverage — this setting is ON by default. 🔔 User limit threshold alerts Admins can now configure email notifications that trigger as users approach their individual spending limits — no more surprises at the cap. 📊 Expanded + enhanced consumption reporting Consumption dashboards are now open to more read-only roles (AI Reader, Global Reader, License Administrator), and reporting now breaks down usage across Prepaid (P3) vs. Pay-as-you-Go credits, plus capacity pack consumption across both the Microsoft Admin Center and Power Platform Admin Center. 🗂️ Policy-level reporting A dedicated policy view lets you analyze usage and spend by individual spending policy — much easier to pinpoint where credits are going. ✅ Custom approval policies for Cowork credit requests Route credit requests to alternate approval workflows via the new Request Policies tab — more flexibility for how your organization manages approvals. 🔁 User spending follows users across policies Consumption history now travels with the user when they move between spending policies (e.g., 500 credits used stays with them), preventing limit resets and keeping enforcement consistent. 💡 Healthy spending policy guidance New recommendations flag policies that may be unhealthy or misconfigured, helping you keep cost guardrails effective over time. ⚙️ Rollout details rolling out early in September 2026 📌 refer to: MC1470425 Bottom line for admins: review your Auto-apply settings, configure threshold notifications, brief your reporting stakeholders on the new views, and check out custom approval routing if it fits your workflow. Small setup steps now = tighter cost governance later. 💪 #MicrosoftCopilot #CopilotCredits #CostManagement #Microsoft365 #AIGovernance #FinOps #ITAdmin

Michael Mento reposted thisMichael Mento reposted this🚀 App building is coming to Microsoft Copilot Cowork Starting September 8, 2026, Microsoft is rolling out a new preview experience that lets users build apps directly in Microsoft Copilot Cowork using natural language and generative AI. A corresponding experience in Microsoft Copilot Studio will follow in the coming weeks. Makers will be able to: 💬 Create a working app through natural-language conversation 🛠️ Refine it interactively 🧪 Preview and test it before publishing 🔗 Connect to organizational data through approved connectors 🚀 Publish and share apps with permitted users and groups 🔄 Open apps created in Cowork and continue editing them in Copilot Studio And importantly, enterprise governance is built into the experience. Apps use Microsoft Entra authentication and follow existing connector, environment, data, security, compliance, and sharing policies. Based on organizational governance, makers can also be automatically routed to an isolated personal developer environment, with applicable policies enforced when the app is created. Administrators get centralized visibility through the new Apps experience in the Microsoft 365 admin center, where the preview can be managed and access scoped to specific security groups. The preview will initially be available through the Frontier Program to eligible Microsoft 365 Copilot users with access to Cowork. 💡 Organizations should also review their Copilot Credits requirements and usage-based billing configuration before enabling the experience broadly. Another important step toward making app creation more accessible: from an idea to a working, governed enterprise app through conversation. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eVvGShZE #Microsoft365Copilot #CopilotCowork #CopilotStudio #PowerPlatform #AgenticAI #LowCode #AI

It was very exciting seeing many months of engineering work and collaboration between Meta and Microsoft being revealed publicly for the first time. With the significantly improved comfort and clarity compared to Meta Quest 3, Meta VR Glasses have the real potential replacing monitors for a Windows PC. When you need more screens than a single laptop screen, with Meta VR Glasses and Mixed Reality Link, you can exxtend your PC into an immersive multi-monitor workspace and stay productive from anywhere. Since launching last year with Quest 3, Mixed Reality Link has added support for using your headset's microphone and cameras in Windows, joining meetings as your avatar, and soon bringing PC mouse input into VR and supporting USB connectivity. If you have a Quest 3 or 3S, you can try out Mixed Reality Link today: https://aka.ms/MRLink. Michael Mento liked thisMichael Mento liked thisI wanted to share more of the work that goes into building Copilot. So, I’m starting a series of short videos / whiteboarding sessions about the engineering problems our teams are tackling and how we’re thinking through them. The first is all about context, and how Work IQ makes Copilot special. Two companies can use the same AI model and get very different results. The model is important, but it does not come with an understanding of how your business or team works. That context is spread across the work happening every day: files, conversations, email, databases, and decisions. Figuring out what matters for a particular task, and what the model actually needs, is a hard & unsolved problem. That’s what we’re working on with Work IQ and why I’m starting here.

Michael Mento liked thisMichael Mento liked thisI've seen many posts about last week's Copilot app updates, but I think three of the most important enterprise implications are being overlooked. These aren't product features. They're answers to some of the biggest questions organizations have been asking as they scale AI adoption. 🤔 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 (𝗨𝗦𝗟) 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁. 💡 The fixed cost, predictable per-seat Copilot license provides Chat assistance and AI capabilities in the Office apps. For many roles and personas it is the main AI requirement. Organizations have been concerned it will go away or stagnate. Microsoft calls out specifically not only is the USL being kept, but capabilities from Cowork (Usage-based billing (UBB)) will move INTO the USL as economics allow. USL will continue to get better and more useful. 🤔 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝘃𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀. 💡 With the merging of Copilot and Cowork to the Home tab this is just step 1. Microsoft has outlined the vision of automatic "intent" routing which, based on the user's needed outcome, will automatically route to Copilot vs Cowork ensuring customers maximize the value of USL and only use UBB when it has a differentiated outcome value (with full visibility of the UBB usage). 🤔 𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗕𝗕 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱. 💡 Rich FinOps capabilities are rolling out to provide control over spend, visibility into consumption patterns, and insight into the business value being created, helping organizations better understand ROI. The biggest message for enterprises is confidence. Organizations can continue investing in the predictable economics of the USL, gain access to more advanced capabilities when needed, and maintain visibility, control, and governance throughout their AI journey. As AI becomes capable of delivering increasingly valuable outcomes, those guardrails and grounding in the enterprise knowledge become just as important as the models themselves. #Microsoft365Copilot #AITransformation #EnterpriseAI #GenerativeAI #FinOps #AIGovernance #MicrosoftCopilot #FutureOfWork
