Tim Buckley shared thisThirty-three years ago, I was lucky to join Vanguard, an investment company that believed in giving investors a fair shake. I’ve had the privilege to serve on our senior leadership team for 23 years and am in my seventh year leading this incredible organization and crew as CEO. Our funds and ETFs power the portfolios of more than 50 million investors globally, our differentiated digital and hybrid advice offers are helping investors stay on track with their financial goals, and we’ve redesigned our client experience to support better investing behaviors and outcomes. Our crew are more impressive and accomplished than ever and our senior leadership team is the best in the business. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities Vanguard has ahead. And so it’s time for others now. By the end of this year, I will retire from Vanguard. #LifeAtVanguard

Tim Buckley shared thisCrew members care for our clients and for one another. What an awesome opportunity to join crew and see that spirit of family and community celebrated. Thank you to our Black Organization for Leadership and Dialogue (BOLD) for having me, and for always championing a spirit of fellowship at Vanguard. #LifeAtVanguard #InclusionAtVanguardTim Buckley shared this📷 BOLD Family Reunion Photo Roundup >> Music. Food. Line dancing. Spades. Moon bounce. Vanguard's BOLD Family Reunion had it all. The Black Organization for Leadership and Dialogue (BOLD) has kicked off a trio of family reunion celebrations taking place in our Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Arizona locations over the next month. More than 400 crew and their families came together at our Malvern, Pennsylvania campus to celebrate and share the remarkable fellowship of Vanguard’s Black community. #LifeAtVanguard #InclusionAtVanguard

Tim Buckley shared thisEvery year at Vanguard’s Partnership Day—a celebration of our purpose and alignment with our clients—I have the honor of recognizing crew who demonstrate excellence in their work, put our clients first in everything they do, and care more about their peers’ success than their own. Part of the fun is that the winners have no idea until I read their names in front of thousands of crew tuning in live around the world. Congratulations to this year’s six Award for Excellence winners! Shelley Reckard, Claire Morcos, CIM, Lauren Puig, QKA, Brooke Gamble, Andrew Shuman, CFA, and Cassandra Rupp, CFP®. #LifeAtVanguard #AwardForExcellence

Tim Buckley shared thisIt is encouraging to see a record number of U.S. plan participants saving to secure their financial futures. Automatic solutions revolutionized retirement planning over the last decade. However, investment success depends not only on the funds you hold but also the advice you get on those funds. The next frontier of retirement savings will be advanced by personalized advice that helps investors reach their long-term goals. #HowAmericaSaves #VanguardInsights #RetirementSavings #RetirementTim Buckley shared thisJUST RELEASED: The 22nd edition of Vanguard’s "How America Saves" report is here! Tim Buckley shared thisTim Buckley shared thisA new commentary offers perspectives on four key topics from the upcoming release of Vanguard's 2022 economic and market outlook. The first focuses on stocks: A strong 2021 run-up in prices driven more by valuation expansion than by increased profits makes U.S. equities more overvalued than at any time since the dot-com bubble. Tim Buckley liked thisWhen Jack Bogle founded Vanguard in 1975, it was the beginning of an investment revolution. Back then, investing was the exclusive preserve of large institutions and the very wealthy and even then at extremely high fees. Vanguard relentlessly challenged this orthodoxy by lowering the cost of investing, reducing the barriers to access and adopting a business model where investors were owners and the company’s singular focus. Bogle’s philosophy to democratize investing has earned Vanguard more than 50 million clients, benefited many millions more and changed the way in which the asset and wealth management industries operate for the better. I believe the revolution to democratize investing has never been more important than it is today. Millions of people are seeking convenient, low-cost ways to invest soundly – in the investments they hold, the advice they receive and the technology they use – from a company they trust to look out for their interests. That’s why I am so excited today to officially join the movement Bogle started nearly 50 years ago and generations of dedicated crew members have advanced ever since. I’m honored to be a steward of the mission Vanguard was founded on: taking a stand for all investors, treating them fairly, and giving them the best chance for investment success. And I look forward to updating our clients regularly on how we will be zealous in continuing to advance their interests and earn their trust. #LifeAtVanguard

As the outgoing Board Secretary for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware, I was quite surprised to discover a new item on our annual meeting agenda: Honorary Board Member. After all, I worked with our Executive Director Anya Lindsey-Jenkins to finalize the agenda! I was overwhelmed to discover I was the recipient of such a wonderful designation. Mentoring has always been near and dear to me! Whether serving as a mentor or mentee, mentoring has made me a better person. And I’m so proud of the work that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware is doing in the state for our young people. From innovative programs like Beyond School Ways to the Athlete Mentoring Program, we’re making a difference. I was able to grab a few photos with our Board President Morgan Dean, Board Treasurer Kimura Anderson, MBA and Executive Director Anya Lindsey-Jenkins. Photo cred to Sharmina Ellis,MSOL,MHRM Ellis, Board Vice President. P.S. Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 29th for our 60th anniversary celebration! I’d love for you to be my guest! Tim Buckley liked thisTim Buckley liked thisI recently had the honor of joining Professors Stephen Zeldes and Eric Johnson as a returning guest speaker for their class on the Psychology and Economics of Consumer Finance at Columbia Business School. A year had passed since my last visit, but I was quickly reminded how much fun it is to engage with future business leaders. The students had thoughtful questions for me about Vanguard’s strategy and shared their own perspectives on investment product trends, personalization, and the importance of designing for the next generation of investors. Using real-life examples, we also discussed how Vanguard incorporates investor psychology and behavior into our product design decisions, advice methodology, and business strategy. Thank you, Professors Zeldes and Johnson for inviting me back to your classroom and to your students for their insightful questions! Bringing #LifeAtVanguard to #ColumbiaBusinessSchool

Tim Buckley liked thisTim Buckley liked thisWe received over 10,000 pre-submitted and 1,000 live questions for our recent client webcast, so we couldn't get to all of them. One was “What’s your favorite book you’ve read about business or investments?” I recently read and recommend BE 2.0 (Beyond Entrepreneurship 2.0): Turning Your Business into an Enduring Great Company (2020) by Jim Collins and Bill Lazier. Among the concepts in the book, two stand out to me. The first is ’productive paranoia’, or how the leaders of lasting enterprises are constantly asking ‘what if’ while they preserve the core of what made them successful and seek to stimulate progress. The second is ‘facing brutal facts’: Enduring great companies need to continuously face reality, even if it’s painful, to refine the path that they are traveling on, because even very successful companies can fail. #LifeAtVanguard #BusinessBooks

Tim Buckley liked thisTim Buckley liked thisEarly in my career, the asset management industry didn’t offer many female role models. As a new crew member at Vanguard, I can vividly remember being “the only woman in the room” on more than a few occasions. I’m proud of how much has changed within Vanguard since then, thanks in part to the efforts of our Women’s Initiative for Leadership Success (WILS). I was honored to be involved with WILS, our longest standing crew resource group, at its launch more than a decade ago and I remain grateful for the growing community of supportive and talented women that it brings together. Thank you to two inspiring Vanguard leaders, Alissa Van Volkom and Jennifer Manry, for joining me in a wide-ranging conversation on the importance of mission-driven work, authenticity, sponsorship, continuous learning, and seeking out differing perspectives. And a special thanks to the WILS leaders who made the event a success: Amanda Shah, Allison Dodds Barudin, Jennifer Ciotti, Jordan Richards, and Sarah Swavely. #LifeAtVanguard #VanguardWomenThrive
