Nicolletta Payne shared thisSo excited to represent The Vitamin Shoppe at Founderland tomorrow! One of my favorite parts of being a merchant is discovering what’s next, building meaningful partnerships with founders and brands, and bringing great products to our customers. I’m looking forward to hosting The Vitamin Shoppe’s Retail Den session, where I’ll share what makes us unique as a retail partner, what we look for, and what goes into a successful launch and long-term partnership. Thank you to Sean Kelly and the Founderland.us team for inviting me to be part of it! Looking forward to seeing everyone in Malibu! 🌴

Nicolletta Payne shared thisWhat an incredible honor to have received my second Sales and Revenue Award at the 2025 V Excellence Awards! When I joined The Vitamin Shoppe in 2018, I was new to this industry, but what I ended up finding was the perfect fit. Between every launch, $1 drink weekend, and exclusive flavor collab, the last 8 years have been nothing short of fulfilling. Thank you to my team and every cross functional partner who has supported bringing my vision for the business to life, and all the vendor partners who I have been able to count on. Without all of you, this would not be possible. Sharon M. Leite, your vision for the company is inspiring and there is nothing more rewarding I could ask for in my career than to be a part of it. Muriel Gonzalez, you have been a wonderful mentor and I thank you so much for your guidance and support. And to Jack Gayton, I could not be more thankful for the leadership you have provided over the last 7 years. I am fortunate to have a career doing what I love for such an amazing organization. Here’s to another successful year for The Vitamin Shoppe! 🎉

The last 4 years at The Vitamin Shoppe have been nothing short of fulfilling. Between the relationships I’ve built with my colleagues and vendor partners to the launches that have kept me on my feet from start to finish— I am very lucky to have found a career that I love and that comes naturally to me. To another successful year! And a special thank you to Jack Gayton for always supporting and believing in me!

Nicolletta Payne shared thisNicolletta Payne shared thisWow, what an extraordinary group of people. They were all asked to share a memorable moment from their time at The Vitamin Shoppe and I heard story after remarkable story today from each of them. All of which had one common theme which was a passion for helping people and going the extra mile! I hope you all know how much you helped me this year... In February we had the opportunity to meet this group and although they were excited about our current offerings they all had one challenge for me “ When are we going to get your bars?!” I was so excited to come back to NYC today and inform this awesome group that they will “get our bars”, our support and so much more! A very special thank you to Steve Flynn, Nick Johnson, Nicolletta Payne & Scott Blanchard for that moment!! It’s now my most memorable Vitamin Shoppe moment. Special Thanks to Kirk from Grenade without your contagious enthusiasm, knowledge and spirit the Grenade® Snacking Revolution would simply not be where we are today! There is so much excitement yet to come! #VictoryIsYours #yougotthis #snackingrevolution

Nicolletta Payne liked thisNicolletta Payne liked thisAs my time at The Vitamin Shoppe comes to a close, I am deeply honored to have worked on important and needle-moving projects and ideas side-by-side with such incredible people over the last 5 months. In just 5 short months, this role allowed me to fall in love with retail again, observe what incredible leadership, partnership, and collaboration looks like, and give my all to a category and a team that craved guidance, action-orientation, and tenacity. Sometimes in life, getting to work with remarkable people that deliver value beyond sales, but also to their people, only happens once. For me, the honor of working with Sharon M. Leite, Andrew Laudato, Liz Levy, and Julie Duran again for a second round is a "pinch me", life-changing moment. They are the epitome of what true leadership should look like for their people and their customer. My business partners at TVS are fantastic - the very best in the business. Scott Devlin, Brian Sullivan, Mahua Chaudhury, Anupama Tripathy, Allie Ruth, Brandon W. Park, Jack Gayton, David DiTota, Jeff Van Orden, Erica Evans, Matt Woods, Leanna Buttner, Lori DiAntonio, Jeffrey Marin, Sebastian Georgescu, Muriel Gonzalez, Jim Abbatemarco, and so many others - thank you all for your guidance, support, and unwavering faith in the ability to plant the seeds for an even better Marketing Team. Your business partnership is truly that: partnership. And to my team: Reed Pankratz, Brett Herskowitz, Amy Blomquist, Katherine Ramos, M.A., Abigail Duncan, Emily Hogoboom, Meredith Mercil Napolitano, and Meng Lin - we have turned a corner and are positioned for even more success! Keep the customer at the center of all you do, and reach for better, always. The icing on this cake was getting to work alongside Kimberley Sweet Gardiner as she onboards to the business and takes the reins of a storied brand with incredible products and customers. TVS rests in great hands with her brilliant mind at work. My next chapter is loading soon, but this one was profoundly transformative for me personally. Yes, because of achieving business goals - but even more so because of the work with great people delivering success together side-by-side. The Vitamin Shoppe, you have a Health Enthusiast for life in me! 💙

Nicolletta Payne liked thisNicolletta Payne liked thisThis is what no one tells you about the ice cream industry: Most ice cream is loaded with fat, sugar, calories, artful ingredients and some even contain anti-freeze. Ice cream is truly the unhealthiest thing you can eat. Until now… I wanted a healthy ice cream. I couldn’t find it so I started making it myself out of cottage cheese. Introducing FroCo Smearcase FroCo is the worlds first frozen cottage cheese. Half the fat, half the calories and the most protein per any pint. Our FroCo is a complete gamechanger.

Great article from Chain Store Age's Marianne Wilson: A record 202.9 million consumers shopped from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday. The figure is up from 197 million shoppers last year and surpasses the previous record of 200.4 million set in 2023. It was the largest turnout since the National Retail Federation started tracking the five-day period in 2017, and surpassed the group forecast of 186.9 million shoppers over the holiday weekend. Are your stores getting the credit they deserve? Every time I hear headlines about the “death of retail,” it’s worth asking a better question: Is physical retail actually in decline, or are we failing to measure its real impact? I noticed that stores help customers in many ways that are not counted as in-store sales. Take this example: - A customer visits a store, tries on a product, and then orders it later through the app. - Another customer places a same-day delivery order fulfilled by a nearby store. - A store associate assists someone who then completes the purchase online. To get a true picture of what drives sales, retailers need to connect the dots between store activity and online transactions. Ignoring that link means undervaluing the role of stores and making decisions without the full story. What would change if retailers measured store influence instead of store sales? #storecrediting #analytics #fulfillment #retailtech #shipfromstore #storefulfillment #onlineorders #retailers

Retail earnings week is starting to tell a story: Target is winning shoppers back. Lowe’s is seeing resilient repair demand, while bigger projects remain under pressure. TJX is still growing, showing that value remains a powerful proposition. Today, Walmart gives us perhaps the broadest read on the American consumer. The takeaway so far? Consumers aren’t stopping spending. They’re becoming more selective about where and why they spend. That’s where retail technology becomes increasingly important. RFID improves visibility. AI helps retailers make better decisions. Automation turns those decisions into action. Digital fulfillment makes the experience more convenient. The real opportunity isn’t any one technology. It’s connecting them into an intelligent retail operating system. The retailers that can combine better data, better technology and better execution will be best positioned for what comes next. The consumer is still spending. But value has become the price of admission. #Retail #RetailTechnology #AI #RFID #SupplyChain #RetailInnovation #TheRetailIndex

Why Target "Stood Out Like a Sore Thumb" in Retail Earnings Target's latest earnings report was a major outlier in the retail landscape. While Walmart and other discounters did fine, and even Abercrombie, Kohl's, and Gap did better than expectations, Target's four-year Q3 stack is now negative, meaning the company has not grown in the last four years. #RetailTrends #FinancialAnalysis #TargetCorp #SupplyChain #BusinessStrategy

Off-price retailers like TJX, Ross, and Burlington are outperforming traditional retail by rejecting predictable algorithms in favor of treasure-hunt shopping experiences. With 51.9% of apparel visits and 6-8 week inventory turns, these retailers attract all income levels through scarcity, surprise, and steep discounts. https://lnkd.in/gYghpzc9

My colleague Bryan Eshelman recently spoke with NPR on the challenges in the sneaker market these days. As consumers pull back spending, clearly differentiated products and services become a retailer’s lifeline. If your competitive moat isn’t aligned with customer expectations, it may be time to re-think your approach for the future.

Albertsons has reported steady Q3 gains, showing resilience in a value-driven retail environment. Consumers across income levels are becoming more price-conscious, shifting their focus toward essentials and promotions. Despite pricing pressures and changes in drug reimbursement, Albertsons continues to grow in digital and loyalty programs. The company has narrowed its full-year outlook but remains confident in long-term growth through technology and private brands. 📊 Key highlights: Net sales $19.1B (+1.9%) Same-store sales +2.4% Digital sales +21% Loyalty members 49.8M (+12%) Adjusted EBITDA $1.04B What stands out most is the digital growth and loyalty expansion. Nearly 50 million members now engage with Albertsons, showing that personalized promotions and private brands are resonating with customers. Even as households across income levels become more price-conscious, Albertsons is leaning into AI-powered tools like “Ask AI,” which boosted basket size by 10%. This is a clear signal that technology + value = stronger customer relationships. Yes, challenges remain with drug reimbursement changes and pricing pressures. But the company’s focus on cost control, private brands, and e-commerce profitability by year-end shows resilience and long-term vision. 💡 Consumers want value, convenience, and trust. Retailers who combine digital innovation with everyday affordability will continue to thrive. Albertsons’ performance reflects a company adapting with agility—steady growth, strong digital momentum, and a clear path to long-term value creation. #Retail #Ecommerce #DigitalTransformation #CustomerValue #Albertsons

Kohl's Q3 results: 💰 Total sales: -3.9% 🛍️ Comp sales: -2.8% 📈 Net income: +160.4% Another quarter. Another decline. A drop of 3.9% in total sales may not look terrible, but it comes off the back of a string of declines. Indeed, Kohl's Q4 sales are down by 23.9% since the same period in 2019. Moreover, Kohl's customers' total spending (across all retailers) was up 2.7% over last year for this period. So it's not like they're retrenching - they're just spending less at Kohl's. The problem is that Kohl's is still not showing up for shoppers in the right way. Messy stores. Lackluster assortments. Too much mess. Too much clutter. Weird pricing. There have been some attempts to remedy the issues - but they are piecemeal and patchy. The saving grace is the strengthening of the profit line. Some is down to more discipline in operation. But some is also technical: an artificially low profit last year because of one-off costs, repayment of some debt (by issuing notes with a higher interest rate), and so forth. These things buy time, but they don't mitigate the necessity of growing the sales line. The trajectory is just not convincing: at best sales will be flat in 2026. #retail #Kohls #departmentstores
