The event is aligned with the month of April nationally acknowledged as Minority Health and Health Disparities Awareness month.

    Strategically and collaboratively work with community volunteers to create a day long forum of awareness on health information, resources, and access for women of color to include underserved, uninsured, and underinsured populations in Durham and surrounding communities. The event is aligned with the month of April nationally acknowledged as Minority Health and Health Disparities Awareness month.

    My volunteerism, beyond serving as a room monitor, gave me the unique opportunity successfully secured keynote speaker Harriet A. Washington, medical ethicist, recipient of the National Book Critics Circle Award, and author of Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present, A Terrible Thing to Waste: Environmental Racism and Its Assault on the American Mind, and Carte Blanche: The Erosion of Medical Consent.

    Additional volunteerism has allowed me to secure Multi GRAMMY Award nominee jazz vocalist, composer, actress, and playwright Nnenna Freelon. Nnenna has also launched a new podcast, "Great Grief."
