Wegmans Food Markets is using a #naturalgas truck during Run on Less – Messy Middle to haul groceries in double 48-foot trailers across hilly upstate New York. “It's pretty impressive that we're able to do the same job we've been doing with diesels for 75 years. We're doing that with compressed natural gas now. March 10, 2026 *Part 2: A run-through of how the RLNG suspension could impact certain listed companies* While certain power producers discussed earlier might get an opportunity to run their furnace oil-powered plants, the supply side will also benefit. The refinery companies, who were suffering from low offtake as the government had been discouraging its use through the imposition of levies, were forced to export it at a loss. Now some demand should come up, for the time being, despite levies. This should ease some concerns of listed refineries, including ATRL, PRL, and NRL, while allowing them to operate at higher capacities. This suspension, until the time it lasts, will also impact the Sui companies. Especially the SNGP, which had to mix a portion of RLNG in its system gas due to its excess. Though the amount that was being mixed was in small quantity relative to total gas it supplies to the system gas consumers, its high cost increases the weighted average cost of gas significantly, as RLNG is 3 to 4 times more expensive. Although cost is not a matter of concern for the Sui companies, as they have a fixed return based on their assets, it does have an impact in two ways for the time the RLNG supply remains disrupted. - Cash flow improves as lower mixing of imported RLNG in system gas reduces cost as far as selling price remains constant; - This would reduce the loss they incur on account of Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) due to its lower cost (high-cost RLNG being removed from the mix for the time being). The import cost of RLNG depends on the three-month average price of Brent. The rapid increase in price of Brent will be negative for consumers using RLNG, as their price is announced separately. But for the regular consumers, the absence of expensive RLNG will counteract rising gas prices due to the cheaper gas mix and therefore provide a cushion to OGRA against the need to increase gas prices. However, many other unforeseen events could happen in case the situation is prolonged, which could not be thought of at this stage.
