Rick LaBerge shared thisIt was a pleasure to join Stewart Samuel, Katie Blackburn and Phil Lempert for a thoughtful conversation on the evolving role of physical retail in brand discovery and consumer engagement. One takeaway that stayed with me: in a world where consumers can discover anything anywhere, physical retail still has a unique ability to create experiences, spark discovery and make memories. That’s especially relevant for HARIBO as we enter our next phase of growth in the U.S. We spoke about balancing innovation with the iconic treats shoppers know and love, and how the power of the retail environment can create new ways to connect with fans and drive incremental growth. Thanks to Stewart, Katie and Phil for a lively discussion, and to the Groceryshop team for bringing us together. #helloHARIBO #Groceryshop2026

Rick LaBerge shared thisWhat keeps people coming back to a category again and again? At HARIBO, it starts with listening to our consumers. Not just what they like, but how and why gummies fit into their everyday lives. The moments they’re part of, the traditions they’re connected to, and the shared smiles they create. I recently joined Elizabeth Parker Kuhn on the Candy Industry podcast to talk about what we’re seeing in the market, from changing flavor and texture preferences to how we balance innovation with the quality and taste people know and love from HARIBO. 🎧 Listen to the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/eAETKyb3 Thank you to Liz and the Candy Industry team for a thoughtful conversation and for sharing our excitement about the joy gummies bring to everyday moments.

Rick LaBerge shared thisExcited to celebrate the launch of HARIBO Sour Sodas! Our newest treat was shaped by what consumers told us they’re craving most: bold sour flavors in exciting combinations that make every bite an experience. Turning that insight into a product this fun and flavorful has been a true team win, and one that feels distinctly HARIBO. Yesterday we celebrated with our Associates, and their engagement and energy are exactly why moments like this matter. Thank you to everyone who helped bring Sour Sodas to life. I’m proud of the momentum we’re creating together. #helloHARIBO #AlwaysATreat

Rick LaBerge shared thisI recently had the honor of spending time at Bucks County Community College with the School of Business, Innovation, and Legal Studies and its inspiring students. It was a privilege to share HARIBO’s story and my career journey with such bright, engaged young leaders. Their curiosity and insights reminded me of the importance of listening, learning, and giving back. And of course, it wouldn’t be HARIBO without some childlike happiness… congratulations to the three students who won a year’s supply of Goldbears! Bucks County Community College thank you for having me and keep up the great work inspiring young minds to lead. #helloHARIBO

Rick LaBerge shared thisHow do everyday moments in your life turn into lasting memories? For many, HARIBO is part of those moments… a shared bag on a road trip, a seasonal flavor that marks a special time of year, or classic Goldbears with friends and family at the end of the day. That’s why listening matters. When fans asked for Wild Berry Goldbears and for Starmix icons like the fried egg and foam heart, our teams moved quickly to bring them to the U.S. It’s about meeting people where joy is needed or where it already lives, and making that connection even stronger. Thank you to Candy Industry for sharing the why behind what we do, and how our consumers are at the heart of it all. #helloHARIBO #AlwaysATreat https://lnkd.in/ecNJuWa4

Rick LaBerge posted thisAt the heart of every strong partnership is trust. The kind that comes from consistently delivering on what you stand for and putting people first. That came through clearly in my recent conversation with Eric Schmauch and Chris Kakabeeke of United Airlines. Their dedication to brand values, safety, and quality is more than a message; it’s something they show in every interaction with their loyal flyers. What struck me most was the common ground between our companies: a shared belief that when you focus on people and create experiences rooted in joy and trust, you build relationships that last. I look forward to where these shared values may take us in the future. A big thank you to Ed Howie for introducing us and sparking meaningful conversation. #United #GoodLeadsTheWay #helloHARIBO

Rick LaBerge shared thisAt HARIBO, we know our small treats do something big: spark that childlike happiness we could all use a little more of. I was fortunate enough to join Rachel Tipograph and Sarah Hofstetter on the BRAVE COMMERCE Podcast to talk about how that purpose has fueled our brand for over 100 years, and how we’re building what’s next. By putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, listening to our consumers and offering them choice where they buy candy, we’re becoming part of everyday rituals and celebrations across the U.S. That’s how HARIBO continues to grow—and continues to connect. Thank you to Rachel and Sarah for the great conversation; I can't wait to see your podcast continue to succeed. And thank you to our HARIBO of America, Inc. team and to our Associates around the world for your love of our brand, your talent and your innovation that keeps moving us forward. #helloHARIBO #AlwaysATreat #BRAVECOMMERCERick LaBerge shared thisOn the latest episode of the BRAVE COMMERCE Podcast, hosts Rachel Tipograph, Founder and CEO of MikMak, and Sarah Hofstetter, Chairwoman of Profitero+, sit down with Rick LaBerge, Chief Commercial Officer at HARIBO of America, Inc. Rick LaBerge shared thisHARIBO had a sweet moment at the 2025 Tony Awards when host Cynthia Erivo gifted Oprah a goody bag — and led with our iconic Goldbears. The unscripted moment made headlines, and what we loved most was seeing the genuine excitement from fans around the world. It’s a great reminder of the joy that HARIBO brings to so many — and how moments of childlike happiness can shine on the biggest stages. Rick LaBerge liked thisRick LaBerge liked thisA lot of fun taking the stage at Groceryshop today talking about meeting the needs of travel customers, and the important role of retail media. Loved hearing from Rick LaBerge about how Haribo are innovating & finding new ways for customers to experience their brand, and Phil Lempert about the power of tapping into emotion in retail. Thanks to Stewart Samuel for steering us through the conversation. Main takeaway: I need to visit a Buc-ee’s!

Rick LaBerge liked thisRick LaBerge liked thisStopped in for a quick fuel and snack run after baseball practice this weekend and caught myself just taking it all in. Coolers packed. End caps working. Tags, signage, screens… even how products are faced and grouped. Everywhere you look, something is shaping a decision. I grabbed a drink and a couple snacks, but the more interesting part was everything happening around that moment. That’s retail media in a store. Not just digital placements. The whole environment. Feels like the next unlock isn’t more… it’s connecting what’s already there and understanding what’s working. Two things I can’t stop thinking about right now: 1️⃣ How do we measure in-store retail media in a way that ties to actual sales and behavior? Excited to tackle this with the IAB at our Annual Retail Media event, the first week of May. 2️⃣ And what happens when agentic commerce starts influencing these decisions before a customer even walks in? Equally excited to unpack this ever-changing space with Google during our event. Curious how others are thinking about it.... drop a comment below or join us in Chicago, May 4-6!

Rick LaBerge liked thisRick LaBerge liked thisFerrero has announced a major leadership restructuring that highlights the growing importance of its ice cream division. Giovanni Ferrero will continue to guide the group’s overall growth agenda, focusing on long-term strategy while ensuring continuity with the company’s culture and values. Meanwhile, Alessandro Nervegna, currently chief strategy and innovation officer, will become CEO of Ferrero Core, a newly created business unit responsible for the group’s key categories, including confectionery, biscuits and bakery, and better-for-you products. As part of the changes, current group CEO Lapo Civiletti will transition into a newly created role as President of Ferrero Ice Cream and WK Kellogg Co., while also serving as Vice President of Ferrero International. The move follows a broader governance update aimed at strengthening Ferrero’s position in the sweet packaged food sector as the company expands beyond its traditional confectionery roots. Under Civiletti’s leadership over the past decade, Ferrero has already doubled its business size, building a strong management team and expanding through acquisitions and category growth. This shift signals just how strategic the global ice cream category has become for major food companies! Rick LaBerge liked thisRick LaBerge liked thisOn December 31, 2025, I will retire from Johnson & Johnson. Writing those words feels surreal. Nearly 36 years ago, I walked off an NCAA Division I soccer field and onto a factory floor as an engineer. I was 22. There was no playbook. No master plan. Just purpose, discipline, and a deep belief that effort, teamwork, and integrity mattered. That moment became the first step in a journey that carried me farther than I could have imagined, from captain on the soccer field to leading large, complex organizations and global teams, from learning fundamentals on the factory floor to representing my company in some of the largest rooms and at the highest levels of government. Each opportunity came with greater responsibility. And each one reinforced a lesson that stayed constant throughout my career: leadership is never about the individual. It is about service, stewardship, and responsibility to those who depend on the work. The last 20+ years at Johnson & Johnson have been especially meaningful. I am deeply proud to have been part of a company where the work we do, every day, truly impacts patients and families around the world. Whether in moments of urgency or through long term innovation, knowing that patients were counting on us brought clarity, gravity, and purpose to everything we did. Along the way, I learned that decisiveness does not have to come at the expense of compassion. That accountability is strongest when paired with trust. And that the best results are always driven by people who care deeply, about one another and about the patients we serve. None of this happened alone. I am profoundly grateful to the colleagues, partners, mentors, and friends who built alongside me, challenged me, trusted me, and pushed me to be better. And to my entire family, thank you for the sacrifices you made, the patience you showed, and the love you never withheld through long days, long flights, and constant change. This journey belongs to you as much as it does to me. As I step into my next professional and personal chapters, I do so once again without a playbook. But I leave knowing how privileged I was to represent Johnson & Johnson, as a steward of its values, its people, its Credo, and its responsibility to patients around the world. What I carry forward is the muscle this company graciously gave me, built by leading global teams, making consequential decisions, and advancing work that ultimately served patients and families. I know, without question, that I would not be where I am today without the trust, responsibility, and opportunity Johnson & Johnson placed in me. That kind of muscle cannot be taught in a playbook. It can only be earned. As Franz Beckenbauer, World Cup winning captain of Germany and one of the most respected leaders in the history of the game, once said: "One of the best feelings in the world is knowing that you are part of something bigger than yourself.” With gratitude, humility, and pride. Onward. Calvin

The U.S. beer industry is at a turning point. For nearly two decades, the playbook was simple: raise prices annually, protect margins and rely on brand equity to carry the category forward. That model worked… until it didn’t. Today, we’re seeing the consequences across the industry: - Declining volumes - Retailers prioritizing velocity over margin protection - Consumers becoming far more value-conscious Beer has always been an accessible beverage – something meant to be shared at barbecues, concerts and ball games. But over time, repeated price increases pushed the category further away from that core promise. Now the industry is facing a structural reset. In a new piece published by The Beer Connoisseur, I break down: - Why the era of automatic price hikes has ended - What retailers are prioritizing in 2026 resets - How consumer behavior around alcohol and affordability is changing - Why the next cycle of beer growth will be driven by brands that restore balance between price and value At Outlaw Light Beer, we are seeing this shift firsthand as retailers increasingly prioritize brands that can drive real volume and connect with today’s consumer. The industry’s next chapter won’t be defined by pricing power. It will be defined by relevance, accessibility and fairness. ➡️ Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g3N5bt8C #OutlawLight #TivoliBrewing #BeerIndustry #ConsumerTrends #RetailStrategy

THE 2026 ALCOHOL “TRENDS” LIST IS OUT — HERE’S WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS Forbes’ annual look at U.S. alcohol trends for 2026 outlines familiar but important forces shaping the market: moderation continuing to normalize, premium spirits holding relevance but facing more scrutiny, ongoing growth in RTDs and spirits-adjacent formats, and increasing overlap across beer, wine, spirits, NA, and adjacent categories. The article also notes a more price-conscious consumer, fewer impulse purchases, and a broader shift toward value and intentional choice as shelves and menus continue to converge into a wider “adult beverage” set. Those signals matter — but not for the reasons trend lists usually suggest. Every year, the headlines focus on what’s new: new formats, new categories, new buzzwords. What tends to get lost is what actually drives decisions once someone is standing at a shelf, a bar, or scrolling on their phone. Most drinkers don’t follow trends. They follow occasions. What keeps showing up beneath all the predictions: People want clarity, not complexity They want drinks that fit a moment, not a manifesto They’re choosing with context and convenience, not tasting notes And they’re still gathering — just differently than before Yes, moderation is real. Yes, RTDs and adjacencies keep evolving. Yes, price sensitivity matters more than it did five years ago. But none of that replaces the core truth of this industry: The drink is the handshake. The moment is the reason. As categories blur, competition shifts. Bottles aren’t just competing within their segment anymore — they’re competing against anything else that promises a similar feeling, pace, or experience. That’s why 2026 looks less like a breakout year and more like a sorting year. The brands and venues that win won’t be the ones chasing every trend. They’ll be the ones that help people answer a simple question faster: What should I drink right now, for this moment — and why will I enjoy it? When discovery gets easier. When flavor feels intuitive. When the experience fits real life. People don’t drink more. They drink better. People remember how it fit the moment.
