I wrote and mailed him a note to thank him for the conversation – but before he received my note, I received a note from HIM thanking ME for having him on the show! You don’t always see humility and greatness in the same person these days, but there was only one Coach Holtz. The legendary Hall of Fame gridiron guru who died on Wednesday at the age of 89, has long been one of my heroes. I grew up hearing all the stories, all the wit and wisdom: “Everybody needs four things in life: Something to do, someone to love, someone to believe in and something to hope for” “Do what’s right … Do everything to the best of your ability with the time allotted … Show people you care.” He had a great wit: “The guy that complains about the way the ball bounces is usually the one that dropped the ball.” And: “Never tell your problems to anyone. Twenty percent don’t care and 80 percent are glad you have them.” Most importantly, he had his priorities straight: “If you want to be happy for an hour, eat a steak. If you want to be happy for a day, play golf. If you want to be happy for a week, go on a cruise. If you want to be happy for a month, buy a car. If you want to be happy for a year, win the lottery. Richard Maddox shared thisThis 👇😎🙏Richard Maddox shared thisTHE POLITICS OF CHRISTMAS Name this person- He was said to be the most powerful person in the world. The Savior of the world. The bringer of peace to the world. The King of Kings. His name is ----- Caesar Augustus. Remember, the Christmas story begins with these words, “It came to pass in those days there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed” (Luke 2:1). Augustus reined from 31 B.C. to 14 A.D. The Roman Empire extended from England over to Asia and down south into Africa. He changed his name early to Augustus which speaks of majesty and divinity. He was the first Emperor worshipped as a god. After Julius Caesar died, a great comet appeared in the sky. This cosmic event freaked many people out. Ever the politician, Augustus did not let a good crisis go to waste. He declared that the comet was his dad Julius Caesar ascending to heaven. If his dad was a God, what did that make Augustus? The son of God. His mom was human, and his dad was a God, so he said he was half human and half divine. He even minted coins with the comet on it with an inscription, “Divine Julius.” As the Savior, Augustus brought the Pax Romana to the world-an era of Peace on Earth. His kingdom would never end. Rome is still referred to as the “Eternal City.” When nations were conquered, the people were assimilated, bringing together people from every tribe, tongue, and language. Those conquered territories were given a King. For instance, Herod was the King of the Jews. This made Augustus the King of Kings. Choirs would sing, “Glory to Caesar in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” In 12 B.C. he made himself the High Priest. In 9 B.C. a declaration on his birthday said, “the birthday of the God Augustus has been for the whole world the beginning of good news concerning him.” Good news is the word for gospel. Are you recognizing any of this language? Are you connecting any dots? Does this preach? Caesar is a counterfeit. Jesus is the true Good News Gospel. He is the Prince of Peace. The King of Kings. Jesus is the son of God (Luke 1:32) and Savior of the world (Luke 2:11). No one remembers Caesar’s birthday anymore. They just reopened his mausoleum in Rome for tourists. His empire is just a bunch of old ruins that buses visit. The last words of Augustus were, “Have I played the part well? Then applaud as I exit.” The last words of Jesus before his ascension were, “I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” Jesus’ Kingdom is unstoppable. We remember his birth and worship Him every day. His tomb is empty. Jesus is Lord… meaning Caesar is not. Jesus will clash with all who want to wear His crown. The real question of Christmas is not eggnog and reindeer but who is the KING? The truth is Caesar, and all the Caesars of the world are going down. Caesar will not have the last word. Neither will Cancer. Divorce. Politics. Unemployment. Death. Demons. Jesus will have the last word. Praise God.

I served proudly in the 1-8 INF and met some of best soldiers I was honored to serve with. Make good choices and serve the correct one.Richard Maddox shared this“THE ENEMY’S STRATEGY: MAKE SIN LOOK NORMAL AND RIGHTEOUSNESS LOOK WEIRD” The Bible can easily be unpacked into three sections. CREATION (Genesis 1-2)- Paradise, Life, Flourishing, Shalom, Oneness FALL (Genesis 3)- Brokenness, Fear, Hiding, Blame, Independence, Shame RESCUE (The Rest of the Bible)- God makes Grace and Forgiveness available through Jesus alone. The last two words of Genesis 2 are “No Shame”. Wow… that’s a great time to live. However, Paradise is lost in the next chapter. The serpent hisses the first question in the Bible, “DID GOD SAY?” (3:1). Immediately, “The woman said to the serpent…” (3:2). Learning #1- When the serpent talks to you, don’t talk back! Don’t argue with the devil. WHERE ARE YOU? (3:9) This is the first question from God. WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED? (3:11) God’s second question. Then comes the blaming: God, woman, serpent. Blame/Victim culture isn’t a new thing, is it? The world got messy fast. Craziness. Chaos. Volatility. Division. Evil is called good and good is called evil. It hasn’t changed has it? Shame weighs people down and people run from God rather than to God. Learning #2- This first question, “Did God say?” is the feisty lie that often trips us up even today. Did God really say…? Does God really mean…? Does God know what he’s talking about? Learning #3- If we don’t know what God says, we will fall for anything. The evil one will always try to undermine the authority of God and His Word. We must learn what God’s Word says or we will be tossed to and fro. Learning #4- The voices you most listen to will most impact your life and eternity. Learning #5- Eve knew what God said, “We may eat…” (3:2) but she didn’t obey. It is not enough to know God’s Word if we don’t obey. Learning #6- Satan hisses again, “You will not certainly die.” The enemy tells the world you can live anyway you please. No consequences. Do whatever is right in your own eyes. There is no such thing as absolute truth. Isn’t that our world in spades? The result is that there is something fundamentally broken in our world: suicide rates, depression, anxiety, runaway shame. Learning #7- God says, “Where are you?” (3:9) not, “What have you done?” This question is not about information but formation and relationship. God is seeking to call them out of hiding and draw them back. Learning #8- God says, “Who told you that you were naked? (3:11). Today, He might say, “ Who told you you were unwanted, ugly, couldn’t be forgiven, unloved, forever stuck…? Will we answer the lies with the truth.? Only the truth will set us free. Learning #9- Adam and Eve tried to fix themselves with fig leaves. This did not work. We can’t fix ourselves yet God did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. He provided a Savior named Jesus who died on a cross and rose from the dead. He offers forgiveness, life and relationship through repentance and faith in Jesus. This gift is available to you today.

You sit down, the waitress wasn't very kind, but you came here for the steak not her! Just try to look past the attitude, the steak will be so great. The moment has arrived and the perfect steak, medium rare, comes to your table. Not only is the steak well done but the waitress dishes out her attitude when you send it back. This is not turning out to be a great experience at all. After another 45 minutes, your second steak comes out to you, but again, it is overcooked. At this point you have had it. Forget it, just get the check you tell her and she makes no effort to make anything better. To top things off, the manager comes by and apologizes for the experience but he seemed to have an attitude that you were at fault for being so demanding. You leave the restaurant aggravated at wasting your time and money and dealt with the attitudes of others. Do you never eat steak again? Do you never go to another restaurant again? Do you become a vegetarian? Do you complain to everyone you know or post a negative review on social media? For steak lovers everywhere, I highly doubt your one bad experience will stop you from eating steak again. Now tell me why don't you go to church? Tell me why you still fly on planes? Tell me why you still drive a car after a bad accident? Tell me why after divorce you remarry? Tell me why you forgive your mom, dad, son, daughter, friend etc. 7,777x and then some? Jesus. If you let 1 bad church, 8 bad pastors, 32 nasty congregation members.... and hurtful experiences keep you away from church and community to praise God then you missed the boat bud. You have missed the gift of grace, mercy, love and forgiveness that Jesus offers. Ask Him to help put your pride and feelings aside and get back to it! It's time to be bold, plant seeds for harvest and share the gospel as the time is nearing......I choose to be salt. What about you? #linkedincommunity

Instead of keeping it, he decided to return it to its rightful owner. The check had a phone number written on it, so he used a phone booth to call. To his surprise, the check belonged to a prominent businesswoman. He informed her about the check and arranged for her to retrieve it. When they met, she was deeply moved by his honesty upon learning he was homeless. To show her gratitude, she bought him an apartment and enrolled him in a real estate school. I know that I know that I know HE LIVES!! “Since 1894, the Garden Tomb has stood as a place of worship and witness, proclaiming the victory of the risen Jesus Christ... the Garden Tomb encompasses an ancient empty tomb, long regarded by some as a possible site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ." 1 Timothy 2:8 succinctly summarizes the essence of the gospel, “Remember Jesus the Messiah, risen from the dead, the seed of David, this according to my gospel.” This was Paul’s last letter written from prison shortly before his execution. Dark. Dirty. Rat infested. Time is short. A chamber of horrors beneath the streets of Rome. Paul is passing the baton to Timothy and reminding him of what is most important. 1. REMEMBER JESUS IS ALIVE. THE TOMB IS EMPTY- He is risen from the dead. Over the centuries there have been repeated attempts to explain away the resurrection of Jesus. One of the most popular has been the Swoon Theory. This theory postulates that Jesus never died on Friday but was merely unconscious. Jesus was taken off the cross, wrapped him in linen, and laid him in the tomb. In the cool of the tomb he swooned, regained consciousness, unwrapped himself, moved the stone, fought the elite Roman Guards and presented himself alive and well to all despite having been scourged and crucified. For me, this takes more faith to believe than the biblical account. A second theory to explain away the resurrection is that the women went to the wrong tomb. Doesn’t that imply there was a right tomb? Third is the Mass Hallucination Theory. Hallucinations are possible but hundreds at the exact same time? No. A fourth theory was the disciples stole the body. However, every disciple was willing to die for this truth. No one is willing to die for a lie. In the 17th century, Sabbatai Zevi claimed to be the long-awaited Messiah. He gained a great following and many wanted to follow him to Palestine. The Sultan overseeing that region gave this self-proclaimed hero messiah a choice between being executed and conversion to Islam. He converted on the spot. He was not willing to die for a lie. Jesus is alive. 2. JESUS IS OUR KING- He came from the seed of David as the promised King. He is master of all. The cross is his throne. The thorns are His crown. Jesus is Lord. His Kingdom is populated by those considered unworthy. The mocking sign above his head happened to be true, “The King of the Jews”. 3 JESUS IS OUR MESSAGE- Jesus is the gospel. The gospel is not four points or six steps. The gospel is a person. His name is Jesus, the one who died for our sins and arose. He came not to make bad people good or good people better but to make dead people (spiritually) come alive. The gospel isn’t primarily about going to heaven when you die, it is about having a personal relationship with God through Jesus and heaven gets thrown in as a bonus.

'Oh, it's not for you, you wont like it, it's just a bunch of nonsense,' kinda thing, and wave the subject away. Cos some folk I don't want to share secrets with, take on a journey, create escapism for. Some folk make my stomach curl, they don't deserve to get that close. So they're welcome to dislike me. The feeling is mutual.... is that weird? :-)

Richard Maddox reacted on thisRichard Maddox reacted on thisYou can perfect your night routine, dim the lights, put the phone away, drink herbal tea, and still struggle with sleep if your mornings are sending your body the wrong signal. **Morning light is where healthy sleep actually begins. Your internal clock does not simply look at the number on a clock; the brain’s master circadian system responds strongly to light entering the eyes, using it as a signal that a new day has begun. That exposure helps suppress melatonin at the appropriate time, supports the natural morning rise in cortisol that promotes alertness and focus, and helps synchronize the chemistry that keeps you awake during the day and ready to sleep at night. As the day progresses, sleep pressure gradually builds, making it easier for your body to recognize when it is finally time to switch off. But when that strong morning signal is repeatedly missed—because we wake in darkness, stay indoors, or begin the day staring at screens instead of daylight—the internal clock can slowly drift, making us feel tired when we should be awake and strangely alert when we should be sleeping. This is why better sleep is not only created by what you do before bed. Sometimes the most effective night routine begins many hours earlier, with something incredibly simple:*step outside, look toward the daylight, and remind your biology that the day has started.
