Sean Sullivan shared thisThe One with "Op"tics Companies... please don't think replacing the word sales in operations to revenue makes the focus on revenue. Sales operations looks at the individual efforts that solely rely on headcount and individual capacity modeling. Its a cog in the system that is later down the funnel. Revenue operations looks at the entire revenue engine from marketing to sales to customer experience (CX) and finds areas to improve. It's a team sport. Sales Operations ≠ Revenue Operations Rant over. #revenueoperations #revops

Sean Sullivan posted thisThe One with Obsession We obsess about growth and scaling in business. But then we burn out or get let laid off. Being obsessed about something isn't bad. Obsession creates a spark to act. Obsess about the experiences you can create rather than the outcomes. Listen to some awesome folks who are customer experience obsessed (CX). Sean Sullivan shared thisThe One with Tanyette Colon and the Human Hello We have over automated and created too many transactional relationships. Over the last 20 years, we have relied too heavily on automating systems that we forgot about the customer experience. What do we want our customer to feel when they buy a service or product? Definitely not hollow. We want them to feel part of a community. In this episode, Tanyette Colon brings some wonderful and astute insights on how customer experience (CX) needs to have a human hello. Her wealth of knowledge from her Gannett days and what she has facilitated at Overpass is nothing short of amazing. Now she is creating a product to combat automation fatigue called InFUUSE. Sean Sullivan shared thisThe One with Dirty Data. All data is dirty. Yes, I said it. But why is data "dirty"? Refine Labs' employees posted a lot of attribution models lately. Ashley Lewin posted an interesting and insightful breakdown here. >>> https://lnkd.in/g8_kB_ZQ BUT... I've seen time and time again the core of WHY misalignments happen. This is coming from my data POV. 1) The founding team does NOT have a data expert with a seat at the "table" to navigate those conversations. 2) The customer experience is not reverse engineered to find correlations to actions. 3) Many marketers think customer engagements are linear. Or they were taught without questioning campaign builds. And the cycle of this lack of training passes down. *I fell into this trap. 4) Marketing and sales think linearly on how MQL and SQL data passes. That's how data isn't complete to take action. So how do you fix these misalignments? > Create dialogue to educate the entire company around data strategies. This includes aligning synchronous actions with scientific backed approaches around PROCESSES. > Then build phases to test and iterate what the company can control. Often times that's messaging and information received from customer interactions at scale. > And reverse engineer the customer journey and the platform ecosystems involved. We have to stop thinking about linear engagement and start thinking like scientists. #sales #marketing #customerengagement #dataSean Sullivan shared thisAttribution models have been a never-ending debate in organizations. And often, the models that are decided upon lead to more harm than good due to how they’re being used. I spent hoursss in-house unhappy and debating the chosen attribution model. There’s last-touch, first-touch, multi-touch, linear, time decay, u-shaped, w-shaped, and I’m sure many more that I’m missing. (I’ve stopped paying attention.) Here’s the problem: attribution models are meant to be used to help guide decisions (data-informed), but companies use them to make the decisions instead (data-driven). The data is meant to help direct you in the right direction to give you insight. It’s not meant to be the ultimate decider. At the core: you use attribution models to figure out what’s working so you can optimize and scale. If you only use last-touch, you’ll dismiss efforts that are growing your demand, hurting growth. Refine Labs’ recommendation for hybrid attribution using a “how did you hear about us?” field isn’t new or revolutionary. It’s been around for years. But it helps solve a couple of issues: 1. Adding in qualitative feedback from the customer 2. Layering in a first *memorable* touch to compare with how you captured the demand (last touch) 3. Doesn’t purely rely on attribution software which can be flawed and point you in the wrong direction But how you use hybrid attribution is the true unlock: 1. Creating different data views in data cohosted views 2. Evaluate how to optimize the last-touch channel AND where to invest to keep growing the demand 3. Understand what’s attracting the market to you 4. Is a guide for you to use to make decisions with other data or hypotheses you may have 5. Allow you to know if programs are working that are nearly impossible to track, or that will get hidden due to last-touch channels Using hybrid attribution, in the correct way, is an attribution model that finally makes sense to me. It’s not new, but how to use it effectively is new to me. Make sure your attribution model and how you’re using it are helping your business, not halting it.

Sean Sullivan shared thisThe One with a Co-Host Back in 2012, I newly graduated from college. I had a degree in marketing but never fully got branding. I was fortunate to have coffee with Kyle Lacy at a coffee shop near what was near ExactTarget (now Salesforce Marketing Cloud). His introduction to his co-author, Erik Deckers, would change my life. Kyle even mailed me a copy of their book, Branding Yourself. A little shameless of how good the book really is. I soaked in all the knowledge tidbits sprinkled throughout the book. And I was going to meet the other author. I became an instant fan. Fast forward 10 years and many Friday morning coffee chats with Erik. He became an introduction, mentor, colleague, friend, podcast guest, best friend, who I love dearly, and now co-host in that order. Erik asked me a few months ago about starting a podcast. A light bulb went off. Now I'm announcing Erik as my co-host! Listen to the episode. >>> https://lnkd.in/gQ8x8xiU I promise you will get some great actionable advice. -- The power of #podcasting isn't about how much side hustle revenue you can get. Sean Sullivan posted thisThe One with a Signature. After 10 months, 158 interviews, and 6 weeks of prep for all the interviews, I finally accepted a position at McGarrah Jessee. This offer wasn't easy to come by. Reflecting over the past 10 months, I definitely had some draw backs with my growth and how I was selling myself. I learned, adapted, and notated most of the interviews. I sought out to learn from an objective lens how the candidate experience can be better. How we all can better. This came down to relationships. I remembered folks who helped me along the way leading up to getting this offer. And many more I would like to thank too. But LinkedIn won't let me write a novel. So here it goes. Kevin Bailey, thank you for your Mastering Your Mindset cohort earlier this year. I reshaped how I view life experiences which helped me see my experiences in a better light. Kyle Lacy, thank you for taking time and energy to help me connect with folks about jobs. Your introduction last year at Pavilion helped me shape where I want my career to go. Joe Mills, thank you for encouraging me to send out a LinkedIn post about the job hunt. That post was the first step in getting me the job. Farrah Fan, thank you for reaching out on that post and helping me with my resume and interviewing skills. You help in introducing me to Bob Bishop helped me to one step closer in getting the job. G. Robert (Bob) Bishop, CPC, thank you for guiding me through the whole process. You are a wonderful recruiter The McGarrah Jessee team, thank you for a hands down second to none candidate experience. I felt such an energy throughout the whole process. Getting the offer was the cherry on top. Jeb Banner, thank you for your words of wisdom and helping me see being vulnerable is a strength and not a weakness. This story hasn't ended yet. I am learning the ropes to be part of a company who puts people first. The company demonstrates this on their website and in each interaction. In the coming months, I'll be writing more. My focuses will be about consumer behavior with candidate experiences, podcasting, and mindset. My hope is guide people who are heads down in work and life obligations to stop and take a breath. Taking a moment to read or listen to my content. And see the world from more impactful view on they can help others. It's all about connections. When I signed with McJ, I knew this was a major career pivot. This direction would allow me to lean on my passions and the reason why I get up out of bed every morning. That was my impact view. How may I guide and support others? This post wasn't possible without some generous people with their time and energy. I hope this post inspires others to pivot their views on candidates. People don't do business with machines or products. They do business with people they like and care about. How do we get back to that? Follow me or DM on LinkedIn. I am here to hear about your experiences. #candidateexperience #acceptedoffer

Sean Sullivan liked thisSean Sullivan liked thisI can remember when we hired our first VP of Sales at my first tech company. I felt like I was setting down a thousand pound barbell, and saying, “You’re up!” I took a long sigh of relief, and I felt my shoulders drop several inches. Are GTM executives under similar levels of pressure and stress as professional athletes? You could argue either way. One thing I know for certain is that athletes have off seasons. These execs don’t have that luxury. The pressure is always on to perform. Quarter after quarter. Or you’re out! And lately that pressure has gone up substantially. AI is asking successful GTM leaders to re-write their playbooks, while doing more with less, and executing faster than ever before. Expectations are on the rise. And because of this, even leaders that normally have excellent mental health may be showing signs of distress. Fear of failure. Decision fatigue. Even imposter syndrome. High performers may be asking themselves for the first time ever, “Can I still even do this?” And all of this is slowing them down. Dropping them out of flow state. For years, professional athletes have relied on mental performance coaches to stay sharp under pressure. These coaches aren’t what you’d think of as a typical therapist. They also have backgrounds in psychology and neuroscience, but their goal is quite a bit different. Their job is to make sure the athlete (or performer) can handle extreme pressure without losing their edge. And they typically do this by closing the “mental skills gap” for performers. They teach them how to regulate their nervous systems under duress. How to summon heightened intelligence and creativity on demand. How to make decisions rapidly and confidently when everything is on the line. And how to be incredibly disciplined, focused, and resilient. Just to name a few. And this improves performance, significantly. For the last decade Dreamfuel has been closing the mental skills gap for GTM leaders. And this is why I’m so excited to announce that Sam Jacobs and I have forged a partnership between Pavilion Gold and Dreamfuel. The #1 community for GTM leaders is making professional mental performance coaching available to their most senior operators. We will be giving Gold members group and individual coaching with Dreamfuel as a part of their membership. Now these leaders will be able to scale their mindsets and mental fitness proportionately to their top lines.

As always with life, it seems, certain time-centered milestones feel much shorter, and much longer. 10 years ago today, Michael Kelly and Michael Cloran officially put their trust in me when I joined DeveloperTown. We haven't looked back. My girls were 5 and 4, now they're both firmly in their teens. I've since met my husband, gotten remarried, and gained an awesome bonus son. I've been through a couple of massive medical challenges. The Cubs won a World Series. Oh, AND we cofounded a PEO (FullStack PEO), and are transitioning through its exit. It seems surreal, but it's all right there. And I am forever grateful. #CEO #startup #acquisition #peo

Sean Sullivan liked thisSean Sullivan liked thisI’m a bit of a sucker for great packaging. Sometimes, the packaging tells you everything you need to know about a company. With America’s 250th approaching, I ordered a new flag from Allegiance Flag Supply. I wanted something made in the U.S., by an American company, and this delivered in every sense. The craftsmanship is beautiful. But what really stayed with me was the experience of receiving it. The flag arrived carefully folded and boxed in accordance with traditional flag protocol - a small but meaningful nod to ceremony and respect. Simple. Thoughtful. Reverent. Coming from a family of veterans, that detail caught my attention. And as a marketer, I’m always drawn to moments like this, when packaging does more than protect a product. It creates memory. It adds meaning. It turns a transaction into something more. The company behind it matters, too. Allegiance supports organizations serving veterans, service members, first responders, and their families, including Boot Campaign, Navy SEAL Foundation, Stop Soldier Suicide, Folds of Honor, PGA HOPE, and Tunnel to Towers. Sometimes buying something is just buying something. And sometimes it feels like supporting a company that truly understands what its product represents. Tomorrow is America’s 250th. Here’s to celebrating this country with gratitude, pride, and a renewed appreciation for what it represents. ❤️💙🤍

I spent years teaching salespeople at Indiana University and Butler University. I watched brilliant people struggle not because they lacked skill, but because they had the wrong compass. They were chasing numbers when they should have been serving people. This book is my attempt to give salespeople a better compass — one grounded in research from over 300 B2B buyers and built around seven proven Pillars of serving. If you are in B2B sales, lead a sales team, or know someone who is, I believe this book will make a difference. Gainsight. ChurnZero. Totango. They’re not broken. They were built for visibility. But visibility ≠ orchestration. You can see risk. You can tag risk. You can assign risk. But someone still has to: – Interpret it – Decide what to do – Coordinate the response – Execute it – Follow up That’s human bottleneck architecture. The next generation of post-sales tools won’t assist CSMs. They’ll own outcomes. That’s the difference between “tracking churn” and “preventing churn.” Brutal question: Are you measuring retention — or manufacturing it? #CS #SaaS #NRR #CustomerExperience

Why I stopped trusting automated pricing tools to do my thinking. Automated tools are excellent at execution. They're weak at strategy. They see: what comparable listings charge today. They miss: which listings are comparable, why demand spikes in your micro-market, when to break from the comp set entirely. Golden Engine exists to fill that gap. Automation for the tactical. Human judgment for the strategic. The best results we've seen come from operators who understand WHEN to override the algorithm. #STR #VacationRental #RevenueManagement #AirbnbHost #DynamicPricing #ShortTermRental #PropertyManagement

Spreadsheets weren't built for modern GTM planning. Our team just built a Sigma-powered planning app that turns messy go-to-market workflows into something you can actually use. Bennett Frohock walks through the build in this demo, showing how he replaced static sheets with a live, collaborative workspace where marketing, sales and finance can finally work from the same source of truth. The app handles everything from campaign tracking to budget allocation, all while staying connected to your data warehouse. No more version control nightmares or hunting for the latest file in personal files, emails or chat threads. Watch the video to see the build process, then read Bennett's full breakdown of how he built this solution and how you can too. https://lnkd.in/gtGDhh-c

The average SaaS company runs 130+ tools. Nearly a third of them? Gathering digital dust. That's not a tech stack. That's a subscription graveyard — and it's quietly bleeding your budget dry. Tool sprawl isn't just a cost problem. It's a focus problem. Every disconnected platform your team juggles is time, energy, and money not spent on growth. We broke down the real numbers behind SaaS tool sprawl — and the hidden budget impact most finance teams never see coming. Our syndication looked “great” on paper-low CPL, big download counts-until the revenue dashboard told a different story. The fix wasn’t more spend; it was measurement that mirrors the SaaS funnel. We tied every asset + source + persona to CRM, scored for consent/validity, enforced 24-hour follow-ups, and judged success by Cost per SQO, pipeline created, stage velocity, and win rate-not downloads. Fewer leads, clearer revenue signal. If you run SaaS and syndicate content, which metric do you actually trust: CPL, Cost per SQO, or Pipeline per 1k impressions-and why? Manufacturers are pouring money into programmatic advertising because it promises scale. Low CPMs. Massive reach. Automated optimization. On a dashboard, it looks like marketing efficiency. In reality, it often creates something else entirely: noise. We see it constantly. Impressions climb. Traffic spikes. Campaign reports look busy. Then sales asks the question every manufacturer eventually asks: “Who are these leads, and why aren’t they buying?” The problem isn’t programmatic technology. The problem is how it’s being used. Too many manufacturers optimize for cheap impressions instead of meaningful outcomes. But impressions aren’t attention. Clicks aren’t intent. And dashboards full of activity rarely translate into pipeline. When programmatic campaigns ignore buyer intent, real account targeting, and revenue attribution, they become a volume machine that sales teams have to sort through later. The manufacturers seeing real results from programmatic are doing something different. They’re shifting away from broad reach and focusing on relevance, intent signals, and named accounts. CPMs go up. Impressions go down. Pipeline quality improves. Programmatic can absolutely work in complex B2B environments. But only when it’s treated like a precision tool instead of a cheap impression engine. If programmatic can’t prove revenue impact, it isn’t scaling growth. It’s scaling spend. Most teams are fixing the wrong problem. They tweak scripts, redo pitches, send longer follow-ups… while buyers are drowning in: • scattered links • unclear next steps • internal approvals with zero structure The truth? Modern buyers aren’t evaluating you. They’re evaluating whether working with you feels easy or painful. Improve the experience → Improve the win rate. Every time.

Data Doesn’t Lie: Costs are Rising, But So Can Performance Ad costs continue upward pressure: average CPC across search rose ~13% in 2025 to $5.26, and CPLs climbed to ~$70 on Google Ads benchmarks- yet conversion rates are improving too, indicating opportunities for disciplined operators. Here’s the real test: • Can your funnel turn those clicks into repeatable conversions? • Can your offer and journey keep CPA stable as costs rise? Traffic price increases require smarter signal control - not bigger budgets. At Renovi: ➡ We optimize for signal quality first, ➡ then scale only when the funnel proves itself. Clean signals beat big budgets - every time.
