Terry Baker posted thisWhy I Can Have Peace With ALS To most people, the diagnosis of ALS is the worst possible news one can receive — especially when doctors tell you that you may have less than 14 months to live from my diagnosis this March. Candidly, this is not how I envisioned my retirement years after working hard for more than 40 years and looking forward to more time with family, friends, and the freedom that comes with this season of life. I know the road ahead will likely be brutal. And yet, strangely, I continue to experience a deep sense of hope and peace despite the reality of this diagnosis. Of course, I hurt for my family. I wish I could be here for all the future milestones ahead for my six children and 9 grandchildren. But I also trust that this is part of my path, and that there is purpose in the life God gave me — including this chapter. I once heard a sermon from Francis Chan about life after death. He brought a rope that went all through the church and out the front door. The first 5 inches of the rope were painted red and he explained that this was our life on earth. truly temporary. The rest of the rope represented eternity. Which do you want to invest in: temporary or enternity? Are you going to Heaven or Hell? There is no true peace without Hope and no true Hope without Heaven! It all begins the moment we die. Life is short. eternity is forever, but before we enter eternity we go through Judgment day. We know that the wages of sin is death. But for believers in Christ, eternal life is a free gift, based on who Jesus is and not who we are. He paid the price for our sin! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I will survive the day of judgement and enter eternity in Heaven! For many people, news like this could understandably lead to overwhelming fear or depression. It is hard. Very hard. But my comfort comes from my faith. And I want to share that my faith is not rooted in wishful thinking or blind hope. It is grounded in deep conviction and belief developed over many years and trusting Jesus for what he did. For those who may still wrestle with questions about faith, eternity, and what comes next, I would encourage you to read “Remember Heaven”, by Matthew McCullough. It is a thoughtful and compelling book that helped strengthen my own understanding and conviction over the years. If you have questions and doubts about God, you have to read this. No matter where you are on your journey, I encourage you to sincerely consider these questions. They matter more than ever when life reminds us how fragile and temporary it truly is. Terry Baker posted thisThank you all for your encouraging words, thoughts and prayers since my ALS diagnosis. It means a lot to me. I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on life, success, and ultimately…legacy. News like this has a way of clarifying what truly matters. You begin asking yourself: “What will remain?” “What mattered most in Life?” As I look back, I realize I have been deeply blessed in three areas of life. First, I had the privilege of a long and meaningful business career, including serving as a CEO in 5 companies since 1991. I’m grateful for the people, lessons, challenges, and opportunities along the way. Second, and far more important, I was blessed with an incredible family. My wife and I have been married for more than 42 years, and together we raised six amazing children. Looking back now, the moments with family matter far more than any professional accomplishment ever could. I am so proud of all my kids, their spouses and the incredible grandchildren! Third, and most importantly, I have faith in Jesus Christ. My faith has given me peace, hope, and perspective through every season of life — and now through this diagnosis, I am believing in a miracle . ALS may impact my body, but it cannot take away my eternal hope in Christ, who will heal me one way or the other! One thing I am especially grateful for is living a relatively balanced life. Not perfect by any means, but balanced. I worked hard, but I also invested in faith, marriage, family, and friendships. In the end, those are the things that truly endure. If this journey has taught me anything, it is this: Do not wait for a crisis to evaluate your priorities. Invest in your faith. Invest in your spouse and children. Pursue excellence in work, but remember that titles and achievements are temporary. Legacy is less about what we accomplished and more about who we loved, how we lived, and whether we pointed others toward hope and faith. I had the opportunity based on the first post to point friends to hope and faith! I'm still here and willing to help all that need it! Let me know how to be a encouragement to YOU! ~ Terry

Terry Baker posted thisI was just diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), an incurable, debilitating disease that doesn't end well. That diagnosis impacts everything! My thinking began to change from business activities to Eternity and what my time should look like in the months ahead. I am a believer in Jesus Christ, so my desire is to continue to serve Him in the last days. I am praying for healing and I know that at the end, Jesus will heal me and bring me to Heaven. He has given me peace and I am trusting in Him. I believe that my body is healing, peace is restoring me, and I will live and fulfill my purpose. Your mind achieves and your body follows… If there are any others that are questioning their eternity and time on earth, I would be happy to engage with you and share my hope. #ALS Association #ALS Association San Diego

And yes, Cancún was beautiful. The food was amazing. The spa... unreal. There were plenty of drinks, laughs, and new stories to tell (or not) the grandkids. But my favorite part, by far, was our people. Getting actual, uninterrupted time together. Hearing people talk about their clients with so much pride and ownership. Seeing the friendships across teams. Talking about what we’re building, where we’re going, what we’re excited about... and just getting to know each other better outside of the day-to-day. I already knew we had a team that cared. But I left with an even deeper appreciation for HOW much they care. About their clients. About doing great work. About this company. And especially, about each other. And that gets me really excited. It also left me feeling incredibly motivated. I want to do right by this group. I want us to succeed for each other. And I want to do my part to help build the company I know we can build together. We have BIG goals. There is a lot we want to build and accomplish together. And I came home somehow even more pumped for all of it. So congrats again to everyone who earned TOPS!! You earned every bit of that celebration, and I feel very lucky I got to be part of it. Cup full. Mind recharged. Heart crazy grateful. 🫶 (Next year... we take full group photos!!) PS - we're always hiring!
